With all due respect, how did you "love" crisis core? The levelling system is idiotic, and the gameplay consists of mashing buttons. Other than stunning graphics, how does this game stand out?

It's all good...I know that I'm in the minority. I can see what you mean about feel, but I think that the areas that Fruho was more concerned about there are clear differences.

Is it clear in the game how/where to proceed to your next objective? I just loaded FF1 and I'm standing in the middle of a forest with no memory or clue of where I was going.

I have to know. Are there towns and other traditional RPG elements in this game, or is it straight dungeons the whole time?

Still on the edge of whether or not to purchase it.

This game is more of a fighting game (ala street fighter) with heavy RPG elements, rather than an RPG with a lot of fighting

Yeah, it's crystal clear. There's no world map and very little exploration involved. The dungeons can be slightly confusing, but you can always turn off the random encounters if you need to run around and get your bearings.

Am I the only one left who enjoys the random encounters?

Have you ever played the flash game 'Sonny'? It's pretty similar in that the giant emphasis is on battle strategy.

    played until 31-40 atm

Beautiful graphics but characters animation lacks diversity (need more attack movements, combat stances) the fighting system with gene is original but overall not so impressive.
I still have the feeling of an iphone game, not a true console one (CC & Dissidia are still far better IMO).
Don't misunderstand here , i like this game but it does not justify all this fuss (if this game was not from SE i wonder if the hype would have been
    the same) IMO

ps : ingame artworks and backgrounds are very well done. There is a little valkyrie profile feeling about it.

Well, I leave em on because you need to level up and acquire skill to beat the bosses. I liked them when they were challenging in the earlier levels, but they're more of a nuisance now that they're so easy. I've always wanted a jrpg that was just big boss battles all the time, kinda like Shadows of the Colossus but turn-based.

well ive played this for an hour and a half now and started to dislike it :(

keep dying over and over and over again, the spells, skills and items ive gained are useless and on more than one ocassion my team have died before ive even had chance to get ma chocolates out.

the chance encounters piss me off now its unbeliveable. i dont mind going back to the very first room to grind exp but finding my way back to the lava fissure again is a pain in the ass.

whats up with this? this is not as much fun as FF by a wide margin. at least in FF you felt a sense of progression. this is just frustrating, right after you kill the first boss.

wanted to like but grown weary of death.

    where rice paddies grow...
    yea itz pretty fun # 1 &2

i like random encounters ;) though it seems i lvl slowly ;)

@acid, do you play both maps again? you are given the chance to choose to skip the first dungeon, makin getting to the lava stage easier
