Glad you figured the sig, I've been trying the past six months and have come to the conclusion that I'm computer iliterate.
I may pickup this game once someone figures out if it's longer then 2 or 3 hours. I've lost all confidence in RPGs on the iPhone. Most of them are embarassingly short.
well i would like to give some proper impressions but ive become stuck very early on :S music is typical square style, always liked the tunes they use in their games. visually the scenes are a touch pixalated but run really smoothly, everything including the loading is quite swift. if you hate games having loads of storylines and cuts scenes this may not be for you however, you start by running around this arena looking for rings. first 'puzzle' game i come across i cant make head nor tail of. pick up gems to give you points to switch movable squares. first puzzle has one gem to move one square then theres nowhere else to go! am sure its really obvious but its kinda peed me off since i wanted to get into combat before i went bed gah! will try again tommorah. edit: and i just sussed it out lol .. wasnt quite obvious but easy nonetheless! battles are pretty awesome btw!
Look, I was in your boat maybe a decade ago or more. Wondering what on earth everyone sees in FF games. I still don't have an answer, and I've long since stopped asking the question. I found the gameplay video for this latest offering to be appalling. Just simply appalling. I was playing this same game 15 years ago and hating it. Yet here it is again. For what, the 10th time since then? Yet here again are all these folks ooh-ing and aah-ing. "Oh, but this is on your iPhone!" Give me a break. I'd say it's a safe bet you are not going to "get" this FF thing if you haven't by now. I understand the compulsion to keep trying, but at some point you just have to decide when something is not for you. Sounds to me like you're there. Congratulations.
Well, I've been enjoying these games since I was a kid, and having something like this on my iPod is amazing. When I got my iPod at first, I didn't even think it could play games, let alone something as huge and in-depth as this. Being an RPG fan all these years, I really love having something of this calibur on my iPod. Besides, if you don't like it, what's your point in coming here and complaining anyway?
No one is forcing you to buy it. It's a great RPG series in the least, and very solid games. They're all playable. not great, but decent and good, and there's a few gems in the collection.
Hey all, Quick review of the game; Looks and plays exactly like a Final Fantasy game, especially the battle system, but it's more like a dungeon crawler. You get access to more dungeons as you lvl up and complete the story. The dungeons aren't like typical dungeons you find in RPGs they look and feel more like worlds/stages that you adventure threw until u reach a boss at the end. Graphic's are amazing! it's got great special effects and summons. Tons of items and moves. Most times you defeat a new enemy you'll receive new moves. I've played for about 3 hours and have access to 2 dungeons both with more difficulty options. If u beat a dungeon on higher difficulty u receive better items which means there will be tons of replay value. Overall this seems to be a "real game" not a simple put together. Chaos rings has great graphics a fantastic story line and feels like a true rpg/dungeon crawler. The game is worth the price tag and I hope that we get more games like this. Coz remember people, that whichever iDevice u have are now getting looked at by developers as a real gaming device not just simple ports or low quality games. So expect the price of games to go up. A game like this would be $50 (Aus) on a ds or psp. So basically get used to it and spend $15 on a great game.
And we come to the point that video games can cover such a wide spectrum in genres that someone can like a game for the same reason others hate it. So the point is that those of you who love games like the PSone Final Fantasy's will love this as well. And for those of you who do not like these style of random encounter, experience grinds with a drawn out story, this game will not change your mind. Neither of these people are right or wrong. I just hope that those who do not like these type of games will not feel pressured to buy this by all the hype, as that would completly ruin the game for you. I have been in that position before with a couple of games in fact and know how this feels. I will be buying this game tonight when it comes out in the US. And it will be for my own decision as I loved almost all the PSone RPGs (like Chrono Cross) that add that something different. With this game, it would be the Gene system and multiple stories (which reminds me of Japan exclusive SNES Live-A-Live). I just want more people to buy games based on what they like, not due to hype, as that almost always leads to dissappointment in games that they would have otherwise enjoyed.
Bought it and got bored pretty fast. Only games I've ever liked from Square are FF7,8 and 9. Wish they would port them to the Iphone.
What country are you in? If you're in Europe, you have to wait for UK 12:00 AM, and should be out in Asia by now if I'm correct. The US has to wait for 11:00 EST.
Why? You've already played them, and they're all available in other portable platforms (well, at least 7 and 8 are). Much rather have SE make original games for the iPhones. Even if they bore you .
Well if you look at it that way, you have to realize that all games now days are just repackaging of older games with slight changes to the formula. For example this game provides a pairing system where you attack with your partner, for stronger attacks on one opponent. Also this game has a different story then other games. So if you are talking about the core formula, then every game now days is repackaged and are boring. Your logic is flawed and you obviously are looking at this too one sided. I understand that you just don't like this game because you saw a video and it just does not appeal to you, but to say that this is the game that you played 10 years ago is entirely fail in my opinion. I am not a CRAZY final fantasy fan, since I'm not crazy about the turn based aspect... but i do love the stories. In this case, I will probably enjoy this game as long as it has somewhat of a decent story, which is IMPOSSIBLE to find on ANY iPhone games now days. I say if a lite comes out for this game, you should try it, it isn't the same game you played many many years ago, and you should at least give it a try before bashing it
I don't play RPG's but dang! The video looked AMAZING to me!!! And games from SE oooze quality and polish. What is the launch time on this game?
