No, you'll lose a lot of the factor. If you play omega first, when you play the original you won't be surprised by much; you'll be like "Oh, I knew that already." By playing omega last you'll, " Ohhhh, so that's how it happened." In other words, omega amplifies the story of the original game.
You can turn off random encounters at any time by clicking the menu button in the top right, and clicking the ENC button so a X appears over it. The toggle can be switched at any time back and forth. It's a very forgiving game that lets you go at your own pace. Use the map. Don't forget to equip everything, and buy new stuff from Piu-Piu after each world. Figure out how gene plates work.
Yup. Even the first few minutes from that first gameplay video contained a whole lotta spoilage that may not even make any sense to anyone who hadn't played through the first Chaos Rings with all four couples.

The combat is the exact same. From what I can tell the 2 areas I have been to are exactly the same as the old chaos rings, but I can't be completely sure. wertyuio Active Member Mar 20, 2011 38 0 0 #78 wertyuio, May 19, 2011 Last edited: May 21, 2011 Game Impressions impressions of the game: it seems that much of it is the same, and gameplay is identical to chaos rings vanilla. It feels as if the first 1-2 hours of the game is a simple copy of Chaos Rings vanilla with a few added "environmental effects." AKA: absolutely nothing new. however, you'll see a pretty big difference (in my opinion) once you get past those two hours. changes: some more linear instances were added to the game, and there's a HUGE plot twist around 2-3 hours into the game. i think there's a new puzzle mode, but I haven't confirmed it. there doesn't seem to be an option to play 4 couples anymore; just a person named Vieg. there may be a few more genes to choose from, and i believe there are a few more enemies. the campaign is a LOT shorter; i finished it in 6 hours and 33 minutes... and i wasn't trying to complete it fast. graphically, i believe SE used a few higher resolution textures than before; otherwise, it's the same. i guess most of the additions come after the campaign (which is pretty awesome BTW) not going to give any spoilers, but there's an awesome spoof mode designed and probably intended for occasional play, making this purchase very worthwhile, in my opinion. overall, Chaos Rings omega seems to be an extension of the first chaos rings; it's basically chaos rings vanilla with references to the original as well as variations in scenarios, meaning it's chaos rings without the "find ring kill couple, rinse and repeat" monotony. edit: scenarios in the game are a lot better scripted than the original, at least in my opinion. it's a LOT less monotonous and doesn't feel as if you're in an open arena with only 1 goal anymore. it feels as if you're actually following the story at all times, and though it shouldn't be, it feels a bit more epic than the original... and more touching. your personal robot Well-Known Member Nov 11, 2008 3,606 3 0 nonverbalist Berlin #79 your personal robot, May 19, 2011 Last edited: May 19, 2011 The beginning made me feel very excited, since it was very cool and different, but then when the actual game started, it's really just about another story. Which is ok, since I loved the CR story. But they definitely have been very lazy here. The fact I don't like the most: that they reused so many character designs, that's really annoying me. But besides that, it oozes quality all over again, so I'm definitely enjoying being back in the CR world. EDIT: OK, the reuse of the character designs is important for the story I guess (don't know, just guessing). But anyway, it feels like playing another couple in the original CR, story new, rest quite repetitive.
