Though setting looks quite different ste86uk Well-Known Member May 9, 2012 6,717 964 113 #3 ste86uk, Jul 19, 2024 I seen this yesterday and wasn’t sure about it, the icon seemed very low res and then I seen some English mistakes too. I liked candy disaster, I wonder if it is from the same people or if they are just copying a bit. Sone of it seems like slay the spire crossed with candy disaster. Don’t get me wrong though, I want it to be good! But I’m hesitant to trust. ironsam80 Well-Known Member Dec 14, 2010 1,151 34 48 #4 ironsam80, Jul 19, 2024 From what I saw on Steam it is indeed from the same people of Candy Disaster and the votes score is quite good. Maybe I'll dive in later... ste86uk likes this. A few people mention on the reviews that it has a lot of bugs but I guess that could be different on iOS? Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,609 375 83 #7 Talbs, Jul 19, 2024 Admittedly I’ve been seeing this one for a few weeks while browsing the appstore but didn’t think much of it as assumed it was another one of those clones for cash grab. But looking deeper and reading steam reviews it sounds pretty alright actually. Have bought and downloading now. Just finding time amongst the impossible backlog is the issue ste86uk likes this. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,113 684 113 #8 anthony78, Jul 20, 2024 Grabbed it and it seems solid but quite difficult. Touch controls can be a little finicky with trap placement but overall works well enough. My main issue so far is if you get stuck with a poor card selection, you can see that you’re going to lose right away. Card idea seems neat but not sure how well it works in practice. Maybe I’m missing something. Need to give it some more time. Brightsiderus Well-Known Member Feb 1, 2017 2,229 534 113 #9 Brightsiderus, Jul 20, 2024 You just need to press on devil in the lower right corner and he will give you new cards. anthony78 likes this. anthony78 Well-Known Member Nov 13, 2015 3,113 684 113 #10 anthony78, Jul 20, 2024 Oh, good to know. Thanks! Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,609 375 83 #11 Talbs, Jul 21, 2024 Last edited: Jul 21, 2024 Just gave this a good hour or so. The gameplay is actually quite engaging. It’s more toward a typical tower defence with deck building thrown in. during gameplay you basically cycle through your deck to access the traps that you want to play. You gain energy over time which is used for playing traps. (This aspect pretty typical of tower defence). After a battle you are offered rewards such as to select from one of three cards (or skip), and gain some gold. This aspect is slay the spire-esque. There’s also a spire/tree system like StS where you select which path. Overall it’s a worthwhile addition. Read the steam reviews if you want to know more, but I can see why most of the reviews are quite positive on this. There is a good engaging game in here. BUT that said, there are some issues and overall things I personally don’t like. it’s not well optimised for touch/mobile. Text displays appear under finger such that you have to move your finger around while also holding down in order to see text quite often. The cards don’t really maximise up very much when selected. Meaning to view cards closer they don’t exactly get all that much bigger. Text can be quite small. I’m pretty sure pausing during battles is a designed mechanic to allow you time to breath and plan placing your traps. Yet the pause button is absolutely tiny and kind of hidden up in the top right. Still, good to have, and I didn’t have too much issue, but it’s bizarrely tiny for what is a mainstay mechanic / quality of life for playing the game. I found touch hold and simple tap gestures inconsistent. You are never sure of when an option will provide a confirm button or will just straight up select the item if you just simply tap on it. Particularly frustrating in the merchant/shop where it is very easy to accidentally buy something when you were just trying to inspect it. More to that is that I have also found some items when selected and which say require you to do something just as select a card to upgrade (let’s say), allow you to cancel out (perhaps thinking maybe you’ll take a look back at the previous screen), and then that cancellation will actually execute the action without anything happening (so you spent coins but say nothing got upgraded in the end). With these above aspects the game is quite rough. Also, and this is a gripe of mine; I hate the intro screen, which you have to see when opening the game every time, which is some animation of this gross looking and sounding book(makes an annoying squelching sound). Unfortunately it’s the identify of this game actually. It’s meant to be some hellish abomination, and to me it’s just so off putting. I haven’t booted it up yet though, but your impressions still sound pretty good to me. Sounds like most of the issues are things that could be patched if they are so inclined. Talbs Well-Known Member May 1, 2011 2,609 375 83 #13 Talbs, Jul 23, 2024 Unfortunately there are some nasty bugs such as this one where the whole screen seems to fill up with image artifacts it seems derived from the enemies spawning or something. they can take up the whole screen for several seconds, disappear and then reappear. Quite game breaking. Attached Files: IMG_1940.png File size: 967.2 KB Views: 6 (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
