I just watched some video of the Steam version. The lack of dodge roll is a pretty big negative on the iOS version. I didn't realize that was a thing. I would love to hear the dev chime in on why it was left out and if they have any intention of putting it in.
I'm slightly confused here - Surely they wouldn't leave it out, there's mentions of it in the description and someone else posted earlier in the thread mentioning it? I just assumed I hadn't unlocked it yet because as fun as this is so far it really feels like there should be one, just because of the way the combat is structured with the red zones of attack - it feels as if I should be rolling away quickly and not just backing away. I just thought I'd level up or finish a mission and unlock that as a skill or something.l...
Id really like to know this too because it would be a huge game changer. I mean when you see the enemys range of attack coming onto vision, being able to dodge roll out of the way is big. In fact, looking at it now, its going to be hard to play this knowing that that strategy is missing.
someone said they played for 5 hours and they did dodge. haven't been able to dodge or know how to myself yet edit: steam version has dodge, mobile doesnt
Its one of those things where once you know something should be there and isnt, its hard to play without thinking it.
Yeah, since I started playing I've been waiting for it to appear, combat does feel like it's not quite there without it and knowing that it's not actually going to appear anywhere in the game is a bit of a downer really. Hopefully I can get over it and still enjoy it as much....
I'm level 52 and still haven't figured out how to open the large (key) chests. Can anyone help? Did I miss something?
Once you have the first "ability", go back to the first town and talk to people all around there...You now have access to...A location.
The dodge roll is definately not in the iOS version. When you first play the game on Steam you get the message that tells you how to dodge. In the iOS version the same message just says to run away.
I'm absolutely loving the game (Level 52 currently) and you all got most of the really important stuff right. Yay! With that said, I do agree with Saucepolicy's points (above) and am hoping you patch some of that in in the near future, especially map enhancements, that's really my only true gripe about the game currently, ie. not being able to move the map around to see everything I've already visited. Overall this game is already a "must buy" in my book. Great job!
I'm not finding a real need for dodge roll so far. I'm level 52 and (I think) about 2/3's or more through the game. Are other people having that hard of a time getting out of the way of attacks?
I agree with this comment 100%. You still dodge attacks by simply tapping outside the enemies battle circle. The only difference is there is no roll animation. It hasn't diminished my enjoyment of the iOS version at all.
I’m not far enough to judge whether it’s absolutely needed, but I do feel it would certainly add to the combat. Aside from the animation, wouldn’t it also move you out of the way quicker? Don’t have the Steam version to compare but that usually is the reason for a dodge roll rather than simply moving away. Regardless, I’d like to understand the devs reasoning for not including it. Could be a perfectly good reason for it.
Congrats to the devs! This game is really a revolutionary rpg!! The only time I mentioned this is was the launched of Greg Kasavin's Bastion! I have a question what's the blue shield following me for? upload image to website
