    Doing nothing of importance.

Trust me, it's worth your time and money. And you'll most likely be spending quite a bit of time with this game.

I actually need to go back and play some of the other Castlevania games. I mostly want to play Rondo of Blood, seeing as the beginning of SotN is actually the end of Rondo of Blood (in the original Japanese version, the beginning of SotN says Final Stage: Rondo of Blood, but for some reason, when translated for the American version, it was changed to Final Stage: Bloodlines for some reason) as well as Curse of Darkness and the original Castlevania.

The DS version at least isn't. The levels are designed a bit like PoP, where they sort of work like puzzles and there are plenty of bosses and mini-bosses. A few examples:

    * You have elevators that tilt left and right with your weight -- an feature you need to use to pick up upgrade orbs or avoid enemies.

    * You have different elemental-based weapons that have different special abilities. You can use the ice weapon to create footholds and open up previously innaccesible areas.

    * Like in PoP: Forgotten Sands, you can freeze water and use it for platforming.

    * There are totally dark areas with torches that you must ignite to destroy light-sensitive enemies

    * There are some cool chase sequences where you have make your way by cutting chandeliers and crashing through the floor.

    * On special areas you can turn yourself into an elemental creature to get across an obstacle

All that is just on the first three levels.

Again, it's possible that all of that was taken from Castlevania, but they certainly hold together in this game.

If you haven't played SotN, you haven't played Castlevania ;).

Gameloft are a joke in the gaming industry, I don't see why they get so much love from this site.

There are lots of kids on this site. Kids don't mind clones, partly because they've never played the originals and partly because it means OMGOMGOMG HALO ON TEH IFONE!

Well, I just enjoy Gameloft's games because they've brought games to the iPhone that would have more than likely never happened in their time. Back when they first started making the big 3D games for the iPhone, when Modern Combat: Sandstorm, Blades of Fury, Gangstar, etc. were coming out, Gameloft was outstanding. They really pushed the boundaries of what could be done. Nowadays, they may not be AS good as they used to, but I still enjoy their games.

Yeah they're not as good anymore they're better, if they should renake this in 3D for the IPhone, no doubt it would be spectacular

No they're poor clones of much better games that you'd rather play on the PC or console. I don't see any reason why you'd want to play Nova over Half-Life or Halo. Why would you want to play Gangstar over GTA 4 and why would you want to play MC over COD? Just makes no sense.

What they should be doing is making creative and innovative games for the iPhone, not poor clones that you'd prefer to play the originals on your console or PC.

They aren't pushing anything, they're holding the platform back if anything.

It seems to me as though people excuse their bad points due to the platform they're on. It's like they're saying "yeah, it's a crappy clone of CoD, but it's on the iPhone so that suddenly makes it better". Not to me it doesn't, if it's a crappy clone then it's a crappy clone regardless of the system. The games that I enjoy on iPhone I would likely also enjoy on a console (Hook Champ, PathPix, Defender Chronicles, Peggle etc). Good games are good games period, and bad games are bad games period.

Well, something like Peggle plays a lot better on the PC. Doesn't mean it's not fun on an iPhone -- and, of course, it's much more convenient to play it on a handheld. Same with Gameloft games. Something like NOVA may pale in comparison to Halo, but I definitely enjoyed playing it on the go (more than I've enjoyed playing FPSs on other portable platforms, BTW).

I'm sorry if this sounds 'offensive' or something, but I must have read about a thousand posts full of arguments by Gameloft haters, and I still can't understand it, sorry.

We need more 2D platformers from Gameloft. Castle of Magic was pretty cool, and that was the only platformer we got from them.
