I've just been playing a bit now. I think an easy one-time permanent IAP which makes it feel more premium is "infinite water + infinite stamina + remove ads". That would give it a much more premium aspect, while keeping the crop timers, etc. which are also present in AC. I have questions regarding VIP pass: - After the VIP pass ends, do the water & stamina go back to limited? - After the VIP pass ends, what happens with the mansion? Do you keep it or go back to the tent? And what about the objects you get? It would be a nasty surprise to be one month living in a palace with all commodities and once it ends, go back to the tent
It's working fine here on the ipad mini, my 6yr old daughter is loving it. Not for me though, I found it fiddly and a bit sluggish moving about and performing the actions. Not because of fps, but because of the controls. Bit too cutesy for me also
This game puts far and beyond any effort I have ever seen other f2p games do by putting in actual physical shops to walk into and see items on display. I love this! Makes it feel like animal crossing. But then it also has the "cash shop" menu that every f2p has as well. I wish there were just more shops or a bigger shop to display rotating daily items for sale. If anything, making the items mixed in with a pool or daily items, on display in a shop,(like animal crossing) would help with getting people to spend real money on it out of fear of not being able to get that item again for a while! I just like the "community" feel of the items physicaly existing and seeing it on the shelf in game. I haven't really played enough to be able to tell but do the items that are in display in the current shop rotate at all? Another thing, this game could really use a night and day system. If you had a 1 time VIP purchase it would be nice to have an option to disable all mentions of "boosters" and "time skippers" The little popup on top of every flower is quite annoying. Make an option to disable all those notifications if you are VIP!
It's such a shame that the game is bombarded with video ads every time I enter and leave a building, not being able to exit it. Having half the inside of my house restricted because I need to purchase a temporary VIP? It's so ugly to have that half of the building present if I do not wish to purchase VIP. I would not mind purchasing the game if it weren't free, or some type of premium aspect, but there is not. The only TEMPORARY fix is VIP, a subscription, if I wanted to pay monthly, I'd go play WoW. I gave the game enough a chance to ignore the VIP, and the freemium aspects of the game, but when I was forced to watch ads every time I enter a building it just ruins everything. Hopefully the developers change these things if they want a lasting game. Premium > freemium. Can't say I'm not disappointed. -Forced and constant Video Ads -Required Internet Connection, why, so you can force us to watch video ads? -"Buy this to get these perks" around every corner -Subscription based?! There's no permanent premium purchase? Terrible. -Asks to turn on ad tracking, seriously?
It's crap like this that makes me so glad I have my 3DS and my iPhone. Almost as soon as I opened the app, I was ambushed by a pop up saying I could get a limited time bundle of random symbols for just $8.99, "a value of $49.99". Assigning huge, arbitrary prices to something doesn't mean it has any value whatsoever. The minute or so it let me play the game I experienced the bad graphics and stilted controls. If you're going to copy literally every aspect of a famous game at least make it good. Value: Less than nothing.
This. The essence of time in AC games is miss-used here. I really want this game to work as my family lives the genre and was are all on iOS devices now. Please find a way: -)
The in your face IAPs make this pretty looking game look like crap. Hopefully Seabeard isn't like this.
Thanks. What about the infinite water and stamina? @Devs: a permanent IAP to at least remove ads would be very welcome. You could also create a permanent VIP IAP as you mentioned. That would be a full premium experience and sounds cool. I think the game is excellent and deserves more than 1-minute gameplays to rate it. The downside is that video ads give a "doh, not again!" feeling to the overall experience.
Two games I had that I played religiously were Zelda and animal crossing. That is, until my kid stole the DS away from me. I was so enthused for this game and the first 20 minutes or so brought back lots of nostalgia. The controls are choppy and I would prefer a dpad type thing, but I could live with the way it was just to play this game. Timers I can live with. F2p I can live with as well. I've been playing hay day for two years with pleasure. I'm also the type of person who won't hesitate to buy premium games. This being said, I've deleted the game off my phone. Not because of the timers or the f2p. Because of the invasive awfulness I felt when I go into my own tent/house and there is a rope telling me that section is for VIP. Nuh-uh. Ain't gonna fly. I lost any desire I have to play the game after seeing this each time I venture into my abode. So, deleted. It's kind of sad because I would have spent 15 bucks happily for a premium version. And no, before anyone jumps down my throat, I don't want a "subscription". I want a one time pay and play. I do want to thank the game for giving me the urge to go and buy a new DS. And hide it from the kids this time. Mom deserves some fun too.
I've been playing more of this game as I've been looking forward to it for so long. I really want to like it!!! And, you know what.... I do like it quite a bit. It does have charm hidden beneath the IAP and annoying ads. It does have all the things AC has berried under the fast forward displays on screen and roped off VIP section. BMH, I want to pay you some money for the work and love you and your team have put into this game but with the current IAP fermium feel to it you are making it difficult for me. I will gladly throw some money your way if the IAP perminantly did the following (if it already does then please let me know) - - remove ads - remove 'spend to skip' signs on screen (happy to wait for the timers) - open up VIP section in house I think IAP for infinite water and stamina is a good idea if perminant. Probably not one I'd buy but good to have the option. If I was to buy 1 months VIP, when it ends, do the ads stay gone and do I keep the house and items? I presume the infinite water and stuns would go though?
This irritated me too. They ought to realise that a lot of the people who will play this game will be kids. Openly showing cut offs or teasers like this will just put them right off, especially as most parents will not pay for a sub, knowing their child will probably get bored of it after a week, as they move through games so quickly. I think they shot themselves in the foot with the whole subscription side, I think it's worse than any other form of IAP. If the game was 4.99 for the lot, many more would warm to it. I'll be deleting too. My daughter will continue to play, for free, on her pad.
Exactly how I feel. As well, requiring an internet connection when there is no purpose other than leaderboards and pushing constant video ads for maximum profit.
How do you finish "The perfect place to sleep" quest? I can't figure out how to buy and plant palm trees on the beach.
Sorry I wanted to like this and would pay for a complete game but the roped off section of the house and the multitude of ways I am being asked to pay for a better experience were not for me. The subscription Idea would be fine if it were an online multiplayer with more depth but with this model of game it just seems like one big cash grab after another. There was the potential here to be iOS's answer to Animal crossing in the same way as Oceanhorn was iOS's answer to Zelda, I think you guys blew it with the multitude of payment methods, Oceanhorn is a standalone game that gives you the full experience and therefore was well received. I'd rather pay £5 or a bit more and have a complete offline game than a drip drip of what could have been game experience. I guess I will now wait for Seabeard and see how they handle it. If this ever changed to a one off payment for a full game without buy to bypass wait timers, roped off sections and subscriptions etc I'm sure this would work out better, it worked for Animal crossing.
Glad to see I'm not the only one who doesn't want to play with the subscription, f2p model. If it's paid, you'll get another sale here.
I LOVE Animal Crossing, just wish there was a version with better online support and prevented people from cheating.
