when moving fps is choppy, while when zooming out for overview it's smooth. Is it normal? i guess no METAL support is in?
Anyone know if it's possible to restart the game? Played the beta long ago but now that its out, I dont know where Im at and everythings changed. Id like to have a do over just to get reacquainted with the game... if that makes any sense
I pretty much agree. I've waited so long for this to come out (although I'm an adult but spent tons of time back then with Animal Crossing) just to be surprised how intrusive this game is build around its iap model. It's constantly throwing all kinds of offers at me as well as "activate notifications" popups over and over again when I clearly denied that the first time it was asking me. It even notified me to activate ad-tracking. No, I had that deactivated for a reason. It's called privacy! The worst thing is that in top of a premium currency it needs a monthly subscription(!) for a single player experience(I don't count any social hub like pseudo interaction) to get something like a premium experience. Sure, I can play it without that, it's just that I expected something like AC (maybe my own mistake) with all its charm and things which have hooked me onto the game in the past. This is far faaar away from it. If you seriously think it is...no. Not by any means. Furnitures are good and pretty and all but why can't I interact with it like just taking a seat on a chair? Isn't this about a kinda life simulation? Then why can't I do this? I guess because it would be too intrusive to put a timer on it and a waste of precious development time if you can't monetize it? Oh well. Pretty disappointed.
I'm kind of torn on this. I've only just started playing and am liking it so far but the IAP!!! Wow!!! And it's not even permanent!! I can go out and get a game cube and a copy of AC for less. I don't mind throwing some money at games via IAP every now and then. The dev needs to get paid and if I'm enjoying the game then it really is my duty to pay for it. However, when the IAP is clearly taking the mickey then it puts me off as the dev/publisher clearly does not want to offer me value for money. I'm going to continue to see if playing without IAP is possible as the game itself so far is fun. If the IAP model changes I may well throw some money the devs way but I doubt I will with the current model. BMH, a quick question if I may. Is it possible to earn the 'unlimited watering can' via game play alone without spending £59.99 on a years subscription? Also, do I get to enter my name at so point as I'm not liking being called 'grasshopper' or 'sugar' all the time.
Subscriptions!?? Ok, that's me out! WTH are they thinking? people are already irritated by IAP in games in general without pushing it further. That's a huge fail on their part IMO, I think many people that may have been interested will bow out before they even start.
I would have downloaded and tried this IF there wasn't a subscription-based model, IF the IAP was minimal and not needed, and if I could have paid upfront once and ONLY once to play the game. There are very few games I play enough that a subscription would make sense... And even if those had it, it would make me feel like I don't own any right to play the game. Or it would make me feel nagged to play or I wouldn't get my money's worth. And I don't want to play a game that gives me a nagging feeling. So, devs, I won't be downloading this. But I am interested to hear how this model works out for you.
I've played a little more and am still enjoying it. A lot of love has obviously gone into the whole process. I wouldn't write it off just yet as the subscription IAP may still prove to not be needed. If it turns out it's difficult to play later on without it then I will definately be deleting it but so far so good. It may be worth giving it a go (either now or leaving it until I report back after a few days with news of IAP free playing) as at the moment I feel you would be missing out on a good game.
All IAP are optional. We designed it that way. An update is underway which allows you to disable facebook sharing. We'll continue to monitor our feedback website and improve the game based on your comments. We're answering questions on Twitch right now: TWITCH STREAM
Well I've been playing it for a while now I even got a Canadian account just so I could, so I've seen the game evolve and go through many changes including its IAPs structure. Let me start of by saying I'm pretty cheap! I don't like spending money on games cause I lose interest very quickly and regret buying them, for example I still have not finished the first season of the walking dead and I loved that game. I play both the Family Guy and the Simpsons games everyday and have never spent a dime on either of them I get what I can for free and everything else doesn't bother me Back to CP, I bought a 6 months VIP subscription, not because I needed to but because I was pleased with the game and decided to show my appreciation. Understand this meant purchasing a Canadian gift card since it was not out worldwide yet. I didn't mind the wait times to recharge my water can etc because I enjoyed slowly building up my little island and had been playing for about 2 week before deciding to get the VIP status. My point is this is a fun game that can be enjoyed even without IAPs and by planting and collecting from trees you can earn tons of in game currency to buy whatever you need it will just take a little longer. You'll get daily rewards and quests pay well, even with premium in game currency plus you can earn energy refills from FB friends. That's my 2 cents on the game I love it and I think if people go in without worrying about the IAP monster under the bed they'll enjoy it as well
Hahaha. You made me laugh out loud at your first rant. I'm the exact same way. I play Family Guy, The Simpsons, and Happy Street every day. I've been playing all 3 pretty much since their launch dates and I haven't spent a dime. I'll hoard my donuts, clams, flooz, watch trailers to get free stuff, use Tapjoy, ect. It's a morning ritual for me. "Coffee and Tapping". As for this game, I downloaded it on my Canadian account, played it for 20 mins or so and stopped because I knew already that I was gonna love it and I wanted to wait for the US release just so I could do the VIP thing. So, the wait is over and I'm just starting it now.
It's not much to look at anymore I had an issue with my cloud save and had accidently overridden my game when the universal update came out, so my paradise is gone but you guys took care of me and those vouchers helped me begin again so soon I'll regain the glory that once was lol it's like you guys were my insurance company and replaced my stuff after a disaster struck, I got all new furniture "Like a good neighbor, Stolen Couch Games is there "
I don't doubt that they are, but I do suggest you re-think the in-your-faceness of things. AC:NL is a HUGE hit in my household. The kids play every single day, and have been doing so since they got it last Christmas. I dabble on and off with my own 3DS but tend to be a bad mayor because I like more *game* in my game, but that's a wholly different critique. At any rate, the *feel* of your game is horrible. I usually dismiss much of the anti-IAP ranting on these forums as misplaced. Quite often what people call paywalls and F2P timers are only an issue because the *option* to skip them has been implemented, and that the exact same type of hurdles with the equivalent difficulty and similar length appear in analogous premium games. In those cases, the complaining is largely a self-inflicted suffering. However, I can't say that with this game. It's so clearly trying to be AC on iOS but is missing pretty much everything that makes AC into a "living" world. AC:NL has plenty of "timers" no doubt, e.g. plant a fruit and it will be days before it bears fruit of its own, or finish collecting currency for a project and you have to wait until the following day to see it completed. But, and this is key, you don't see them, they're part of the world. So imagine the non-joy of watering the first sapling I come across to see the droplet icon promptly replaced by the interface to use one of of two different premium currency based accelerants. Or (not a timer but similar problem) venturing into my home for the first time only to see a roped off VIP section. I have no problem in the abstract with giving players the option of speeding up plant growth or other timers via some premium currency based widget, or a premium currency based instant expansion of your home, or, really, anything, I'm not anti-IAP or even anti-freemium, but instead of seeing a happy little island where I was free to poke around in, all I saw was one billboard after another to buy this, rush that, expand this now! For people who have never played AC games, maybe they will not be so turned off by the crass commercialization of your island, but as someone who has the option of playing the real thing, omg, it's not even comparable. Even dumping 2X the cost of buying AC:NL would do NOTHING to alleviate the feel of being herded through the gift shop at the amusement park vibe the game has from the moment you show up on shore.
Thanks for the feedback. Please be aware that we'll keep updating Castaway Paradise to improve it. We've already released 23 updates and we'll make many more. In fact within a few hours a update for Castaway Paradise will be released. It will allow you to disable the Facebook pop-ups!
I'll drop in my two cents (based on the previous comment comparing AC to CP): a one-time IAP which makes the game a more premium-ish experience. Nonetheless, I'll come back and add to this when I get to play more than the 2 minutes I've been able to play until now.
A lifetime VIP is something we could add. We'll see how the current version does and improve accordingly.
Ok so as to not have any accidents, how do I go from my Canadian game and continue on the U.S. version?
Please note that we advice against switching accounts. Having said that, If you don't change your icloud account it shouldn't cause any problems.
