I put this case (not the Case-Mate, but the off-brand one) on my iPhone again today and now I'd have to give it a no. The look of the back isn't better, because there's something strange about it. I think it's not sitting flush against the back of the iPhone, and so the circle around the apple logo has this look like it's wet and uneven, though it isn't wet. So, I would say to get the Case-Mate over the off-brand one for sure, especially with this issue and the headphone issue. I'm pretty happy with the Case-Mate Gelli. If they come out with some new designs that I like I might even pick up another.
A followup about the Case-Mate Gelli. I still think this is a decent case, but using my headphones with it, which have a somewhat fat and angled plug, has caused the TPU plastic around the headphone opening to stretch and have a look... well actually I'm not sure how to describe it. I'll take some photos tonight and post them. In any case, the end result is that the case now doesn't look as good as it started and so I have to put that reservation about it out there. If you just use the Apple headphones or some other headphone with a more narrow plug this probably won't ever be a problem. I ordered the Griffin Reveal Etch as my free case from Apple. Hopefully it will work with my headphones better. Unfortunately I've got to wait 8 to 10 weeks before it arrives. >=-o
Keep checking your mail bro, apparently, some people have started having their orders shipped already.
Yeah, I ordered that case from Apple too. Right now I'm using a this case. It's pretty good. Fits well, looks nice and provides good protection for the sides and back. The only thing I dislike is that it traps air bubbles on the back. While this is no real problem, it annoys me for some reason. It covers the lock and volume buttons, but I don't mind that because the buttons still work perfectly.
The Gelli doesn't trap air bubbles on the back - the fit and all is great. The only problem with it is that my headphones stretched it and now it looks... again I'm not sure how to describe it. Sort of like it has been stretched and scrapped? I don't know. If it didn't get that way I would love it. I'm thinking about getting the Zagg sides-only Invisible Shield and just going with that. They claim it helps with attenuation even though only being the invisible shield material. I've seen the kiosks at the local mall and they will install it for you for a fee (not too bad of one), but their sign doesn't mention the sides-only version.
How is the drop protection on this? I'm thinking about picking a few up for my new Verizon iPhone 4. I'm looking for something sleek with minimal bulk, yet drop protection.
