Yep, that method works. I had the save bug happen to me again, and by doing this, I was able to recover it.
I think the savegame issue is the same as the one that affected Infinity Blade II, and it has to do with poor Internet connections and timeouts with icloud. Devs, maybe setting a higher timeout value would work. In any case, the people who made IB2 found a way to solve it, so I'm sure the issue will be solved in Carmaggedon too

Does anyone know if the car horn is available in the iOS version? I've yet to beat a single stage by "clearing" the pedestrians and I was hoping to it was in there to scare them off the roofs.
i'm really waiting for the fix. i am not going to try the apparent workaround because i am not willing to risk it. sometimes i spend a good 30-45 minutes on a single race and i just don't want to risk losing my progress again. i have removed the game from my device, because the game is so good that i can't trust myself to stay away from it but i put it on my appshopper watch list so that whenever an update is pushed and the issue is fixed, i can get this game back onto my device. hope this happens soon. still, i think you've done a terrific job! well done!
Works fine for me now. Just gotta wait for the GC popup on the splash screen and everything is perfect, pretty easy workaround.
THIS is the greatest Peds aren't anywhere you can't drive. The best thing that helps is the bonus that shows all peds on the map
I remember that from when I played it back in the day. But I do remember using the car horn to scare them off the roofs to save time and make bigger combos.
Seeing as it's been years since I played the PC version, what does it take to unlock cars? I know taking down them during the race gives you a "chance" to steal them, but it seems incredibly slow and random. Ranking I think has something to do with it too. I wanted to try to unlock 'em myself, but am tempted to just do the IAP as a way to also support the dev. Of course, that takes away some of the fun.
IF you can unlock the car (it tells you in the change car screen) when you start a race "Stealworthy" will be flashing under the car(s) Destroy the stealworthy cars and you unlock them. There's no chance or probability of it not working. I skipped ahead to the last race (Beef Curtains) once I got to Rank 1. It took FOREVER to destroy the bulldozer with my weak car but I finally did it and beat the game, for beating the game I all my opponents gave me copies of their keys. So now I have all cars minus the Suppressor since it's the secret car.
I never played the original on PC, but man is this fun. I actually love the physics/handling of the early cars... those long floaty drifts remind me of Reckless Racing! : ) As for the iCloud problems, I had it get rid of my progress once too. All I did was quit, kill the app from the multitask bar, relaunch, wait for GC to kick in, and there it was again. Works like a charm!
I killed everyone in two levels... well, almost everyone. Somehow, I always miss one ped, but even using the powerup which shows every ped in the map, I can't find it. Do I need to kill myself too?
Once you unlock the Electric Blue you can use it's Electro Bastard Ray and just destroy the pedestrian population but I always felt like that was cheap. I want to find and run over each and every person on the map instead of driving down the middle of the street and watching watching people on both sides of the street fry. I did a review of it on my personal site which I'll probably upload in shortened form to iTunes but I mentioned that I would love some kind of heat map so I can at least know what corner of the massive environment I need to go to so I can run over the 4-5 lone survivors.
Hey guys, so far i loving this game so much but i got a problem. Just today i just found Carmaggedon app gone. Though i still can play it from iphone search and it says its installed when i go to app store. How do i get it to reappear again in my screen?
Guys, i have found a way to keep your savegames without restarting and so on. I'm playing it on my iPad wi-fi only and if i just turn wi-fi off and it has no internet connection, the game works great.
As a few have said regarding the save file issue, whenever I load up the app and the save file isn't there I immediately exit the app, close it down, then restart it. The maximum exit/closures I've needed to retrieve the file is two. On a separate note people looking to kill all peds on the map, as stated, it's a lot easier to do once u find the power up 'peds shown on map'...I'm thinking maybe it would be a good idea to share with everyone where the power ups are found on each map. I've only been playing a couple of days but know one for sure and that is on the 'industrial injury' race. Head through cp 1&2 then where u go downhill and have to take a left to go through cp 3, turn right instead. Follow the road round, turn left in the next arena and go up the incline at the end. Double back on yourself and follow the brige/road that is above the arena going round the left and u will come to another bridge/road on your right. Drive off the road into the tank underneath (full of yellow liquid) and follow the yellow/black lines to the exit. As u exit it u will get the power up and end up in the large underwater area near the start line. Hope this helps, if anyone else knows of any others I know for sure I would appriciate it if u shared the info as I'm sure others would. Apart from that brilliant game devs, takes me right back to my youth, I'm soooo glad it's been brought out on iPhone Only things that are grating me about it is the obvious save file bug (not that major), the action cam always popping up when I'm mid race throttling the accelerator in analog (please implement a way to turn this off if possible please), similarly with the map on the left hand side of the screen, and finally that the game doesn't pause whilst viewing the map. So many times now I've had minimal peds, switched to map to see where the rest are and during this time the last racer has caught up with me and waste himself driving into me....hey presto have to restart the race and kill all the peds again Brilliant game though, thanks devs
this I do remember. Never felt cheap to me since the maps are so large and it's still plenty difficult to kill 500+ peds. I've completed one map by driving over all of them, but some of the bigger maps would not be fun at all trying to find those last few.
