We’ve just released a brand new update to Cardiograph that we’d like you to check it out. We’re dropping 50% off the price for the holidays! There has never been a better time to give it a try!

Cardiograph is an application which transforms your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into a heart rate measurement device. It uses the built-in camera to get an accurate reading almost instantly.

    Official site - http://macropinch.com/cardiograph

    Press area - http://macropinch.com/cardiograph/press.html

App info is currently processing and/or the app is not yet fully available for sale on the US App Store.

Wow. This looks great. How accurately does the app capture the heartbeats?

Edit: I went ahead and bought it. Although I am in, at least from what I think to be a week lit area, it keeps saying that it's too dark. How much brightness is required?!

Also, i know that is beyond the scope of the app, but it would be great if there were a way that users can include additional vitals and the app uses this info along with the current BPM to help inform us about whether or not the BPM is too high or too low.

The Cardiograph app works flawless on any device with a torchlight, e.g. iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. If a torchlight does not exist in cases such as iPhone 3G, iPod Touch 4, and iPad 2 you need a strong source of light, preferably sun light (you can point it toward a window for example). The light from a fridge, halogen desk lamp or any lamps of these is just not bright enough.

The light source I used was not from "a fridge" or "halogen desk lamp or any lamps". I was in my kitchen next to my kitchen door which has a lengthwise glass window that lets the sun in quite generously, so there seemed to be more than sufficient lighting. I wonder if the light sensitivity could be amped up, but then again, this may be a hardware issue rather than the software itself. Overall, great idea but the execution could be better.
