The codes are not reusable. A friend with the psychical game have me one, it claimed it would give me a "powered up" card or something. It was just a basic pig :/
Also they physical game is not half as balanced as the ios version. I will never complain about the digital one again, geez.

Don't get me wrong, still plenty of room for tweaking, in particular the level costs and card box limits. Oh and the music for Ash, he's a bad guy, that beautiful instrumental version of "What Am I to You?" Does not suit him at all.

Wow, that's saying something. I enjoy the IOS game, but it certainly isn't balanced by any stretch of the imagination. Shame to hear that.

    Ok.
I've been on the fence with this game since it's release.

one side of the fence - I've loved every adventure time game (and most CN games) on iOS.
The other side of it - I'd never played a card battle game; timers.

I recently bought Card City nights. It is my first card game. I love it, but it isn't very deep. I decided to jump into this, hoping for a deeper experience.

    Impressions:

1st of all I love the game. There's nothing else to say. The graphics are great t(he battle animations particularly). The gameplay is fun. The entire package is done very well.

    But...

And this is a big but.

This game is freemium (well I guess the proper verbiage would be "paymium"). There's no way around that. It feels freemium to its core. Timers are bad enough, but It isn't just timers. There's the revives, the currencies, the entire thing.

The game should be free... But if they are going the paymium route, If it were $0.99 I could probably overlook this, but I paid for a premium experience.

For $3.99 I feel like I sort of got shafted.

So, beat the game. Had to finally break down and use the Battle Wheel at level 79, simply couldn't compete with infinite 5 star creatures. Definitely wasn't willing to do the grinding required. Overall though, was a fun experience. I didn't like the timer, but it didn't ruin it for me either. Not a deep game, but an amusing homage to the show.

Congrats! How many hours did you put in?

I think even if I beat it, I'd probably keep it on my device just to play for fun sometimes or collect more cards. Seems like there's a lot of different cards in here that it's impossible to know if you have them all.

Great job! Wow. What would you want that would make it deeper? Any suggestions? Card types, or other features? Curious what else you would want to see.

Theres a bunch more content on the way of course. so hang on to your progress ;)

Also - we intuitionally shied away from making the cards to 'wordy' because it wasn't fun to read a card (like you do in Magic the Gathering) over and over trying to figure out what it is supposed to do and what the rules are... so just an FYI.

Ah, I understand. That makes sense. Although we plan on adding a bunch of dynamic things to the map, which might make this harder.

I guess I would say lets discuss it more after we drop our first content update. . . since that will be a better 'first' indicator of the future of how the deeper game gets played.

Haha, thats great - thank you so much, we are very appreciative when anyone takes the time to tell us that they are having a good time- that is fantastic!

This is very frustrating for us. Because we never saw this in testing, but it is obviously occurring. The way you have described it is actually very helpful and I think we can narrow this down more - so thanks for posting this info.

This should be fixed now. Tapping issues like this are tricky because solving them means responsiveness is typically the tradeoff. But thanks for making us aware. Personally, Im not a big fan of cheating, so Im with you... I don't like my game experience ruined by stuff like that - but we're committing the crime - so *Facepalm*

We have a cool plan for this. but don't want to say too much - but its fun to see the suggestions!

There are three parts to this. 1. Yes! We want you to take a break. Its important to us that people are excited to come back to the game and don't get burned out. I personally get burned out pretty fast on games, but find the timers make me more excited to go back to them - in some cases. People will disagree with me, but Im just stating what "I" like. 2. We have larger plans for how Hearts are used for the 'END game' so to speak. so they are there to be used on a more weekly, daily basis - however until the plans are realized its not as good as it could/will be - and of course harder to understand the need for it. So I get it. 3. And of course its there to make money for people that just can't wait - but as gamers we really tried to be very generous with the number of gems you get from grinding the quests, and not hit anyone with hard paywalls, etc. for a long long time. Most games I get exposed to seem to take the opposite approach (and people would argue that they are free games - but many of these free games i think have smaller game budgets that need to be earned back) All of that said - there's no easy answer. But the truth is above.

I think this is all valid and I think we need to provide some of this. For example - would people pay for multiplayer? Or would they be mad? Would people pay for Tournaments? Or be mad? Its a hard thing to please everyone . I think this is worth exploring and trying to figure out what makes people happy and excited. Thats the goal - if all of that is happening - then people are probably okay with paying the price of a few cups of coffee - - but as I said above we do have deeper plans for the game, which made the heart system seem like a good fit.

:) Thank you very much. We are working on balance, bugs, and more! Thank you for writing and caring so much. It makes late nites, weekends worth while! Haha!

Thanks, this should be fixed in update 1.0.2 (which is in the Apple queue, so should be any day now).

We have been on the fence about a mulligan, so maybe we'll try it out and see what people think.

It does on mine. It can be slow at time, but never during the battles.

Glad to see a dev in here! I love the game, and as a huge fan of the show I gotta say, you have done a great job with the license. The timer has yet to fault me, but I'm with most people in saying it shouldn't be there or waaaay lenient. I have read your point of view and I understand where your coming from though.

    Couple things.

The only glitch I have encountered is my landscapes will reset to my first setup when I first started the game, not every time, but enough to be bothersome.

IAP are a little steep. Either lower the gems price or make buying cards cheaper. Or maybe keep it the same, but instead of only one card gained from chests, maybe make it two or three. I am more than happy spending money on this game, but I hate being burned by spending my gems only to get a weak card or one I have dozens of.

All in all though, this is an excellent game and I appreciate a dev getting in here and talking with the fans.

Not sure how much time I put in total, I've picked it up here and there since it was released.

I think a big thing would be to consider some combos. With a few exceptions, most of the best cards in the game are good simply because they are good. By this I mean, a 3 cost 15/15 is good on it's own. However, if there was more synergy between cards, spells, buildings, and creatures, deck building would likely be a lot more exciting. For instance, and this is just off the top of my head, a creature or spell that got a bonus when cast when the player had a creature of a certain faction already on the field. Something that makes you want to use 2 or more certain cards together because they work together.

I don't really know what else to suggest that I haven't mentioned before. Balances and changes have already been announced and I think you have a solid enough IOS game to entertain fans of the show. I will say though, that now that I've finished, the draw to keep playing would be finishing challenges for gems, and thus these challenges really need to be tweaked at the higher levels to keep them fun. Currently, some feel next to impossible without a lot of grinding or really good luck.

I can't believe it took me so long to realize not clickin the battle wheel would let you miss attacks against open lanes. I hope that never ever changes, it makes getting the max three chests from early game enemies way easier. Which in general makes forging and tossing out excessive filler cards a lot less painful.

at first my son and I were rabid addicts to the game. Now, it's beginning to fade because the timers are getting in the way at higher levels. having to put the game down after just 1 level to wait 4 hours to play the next one is getting boring already.

I also hate the algebraic chest giving repeats. twice now I opened it to get the same spell and it just sucks. we grind away for three gems and getting spells and buildings way more than creatures.

to the devs, I think the game is too imbalanced and paying for it should not follow freemium business model.

Go watch the episode Card Wars. If you like the episode, you should appreciate the game. Personnally, I don't like Adventure Times, but I found the episode funny and I like the game despite the flaws.

Hi Dave, the next update which should be out any day should help this. Let us know if it doesn't. Agree that putting it down after 1 level is not fun, nor our goal. Was harder to balance the later levels. But let us know if any better with next update.

The algebraic chest, that's a bummer, pm me your id in the game. It's on the options screen.
