I'd rather pay $9.99 for a quality game I'm sure that it is then pay half that and have pay to play I just don't support that set up that is all. Nothing against the game or what they were able to accomplish with it just hate the greedy format they have which is my opinion obviously.

Heck, I'd rather pay $20 upfront then pay "x" amount on the back end.

I can't believe I paid $4 for an app that tells me when I can play it. I also can't believe that there are people defending that. There is NO good purpose for timers here. None. That needs to go.

I understand what you are saying, but unfortunately, the reality of IOS game development seems to be that developers are not making a viable profit with premium pricing. Looking at Warhammer Quest as an example, even using set pricing for content, consumers still complain, even though such a structure is better of them than a freemium set-up. So really, it seems developers can't win. That said, I think there is a difference between using IAP to make a profit through bonuses and benefits, and abusing it in a way that restricts players who don't pay with intrusive walls.

Card Wars, in my opinion, is somewhere in the middle of that spectrum, providing a solid core game with the ability to obtain cards without addition expense, yet also hampering game play with a timer that is pointless outside attempting to make players spend their gems and artificially lengthening the game's longevity.

Personally, if the game's developers did nothing but give an option to remove the timer for $X, I think the game would be infinitely more approachable, despite any other flaws it may have.

    Do no buy this game!

I know card wars is super cool in the episode. However, this digital game is nowhere like the actual physical card game which I watched the preview on. It seems the rules are different. In the physical game, you cannot attack after the flop. But the ios game let you. There is action to flip the land to disable certain action for your opponent like in the episode.

Instead what I encounter is hero level up will give you more and more health for the hero, up to 45 already around quest 20, and the creature attacking power and defense become 20 and up if you go get the 3 star cards. That defeat the whole purpose of all the 1 or 2 star cards, especially 1 star creatures! Doesn't matter how clever you are with whatever strategy, facing big point creature, you are going to lose, because they allow 4 of each!

This ios version is like a dumb down yugioh game. It sucks big time. Looking forward to buy the actual card game where there is no rare card to chase around since it is not a 'collectible' card game like the ios version, hopefully it is not another disappointment.

^ I dunno what you're talking about.. it's not that bad. Timers aside, the core game is really well done and in the board game you don't get cool animated graphics or voices.

Btw I think some people did mention your concerns about overpowered monsters but there's a common card that's a counter for that .. it's the brain spell that damages the monster on it's attack. That will easily negate a powerful monster, unless the AI keeps reviving it. Or did you sell all your low-end cards? Even early on, the AI was spamming that card on all my stronger monsters.

It's odd, because the card design is the same, and some mechanics are the same or similar, but the IOS version almost seems like an early prototype compared to the physical version. I suspect though, that much of this has to do with making the game more accessible to a wider IOS audience, much like the presence of the Battle Wheel.

Cerebral Bloodstorm. It's decent early on, but since it only counters creatures with higher attack than defense, as the game progresses it fails against a lot of the big units with stats like 5-9 attack and 20+ defense. You really need to get at least a few high attack creatures to combat these creature walls.

The game definitely isn't even close to being balanced, but fortunately the minimum deck size is so small, you really only need a few good cards to make a deck that can handle the higher end stuff.

    There's another problem.

I went back and three-starred a few early levels, to scrape up some gems, and unlocked a chest to get a three-star swamp creature. Sick.

Played one or two more rounds. Turned it off.

Come back a bit later... The card's gone. So are some of my stars.

I don't know when the game saves, but I do know it does not auto-save after a chest opening. Meaning that if the game chooses not to save, you can lose your game-winning cards at any time if you exit and come back later.

    Deleted.

Your opinion is valid, but so is everyone else's who is stating that they do not like it. No need to be upset about it. This is the internet after all.

Oh jeez these guys are assholes. If you play the game online, it won't let you play unless you update. Almost every game that has updates usually gives no notice or gives an annoying popup. This game takes the cake.. turns the play button into a "go to appstore" button. Mine crashes if I touch anywhere on the screen. Whoever designed this is an asshole.

Well better make sure you back up your saves.

    I could not agree more!

Everyone should complain about this! Directly at the developer!

Tink about it: Imagine you can play two games of Carcassonne ... then you have to wait an hour ... he? Are they nuts?

I don't think so , cartoon networks game rarely goes free especially adventure times ... lol it's so hot and they won't even discount on it for some old games without Game Center support , I suggest you just pay & enjoy it

To everyone who really hates this game because it's so expensive and also includes timers etc why don't you just go read a different forum for a game you like or do you have nothing better to do than complain?
Some of us think this is a good game and appreciate that it's only £2.49 not a bank breaking amount.

Wait until you start playing quest with 5 stars and you only have 12 stars. Only can play 2 games and need to wait more than 1 hour to play each additional game! And that is very early quests, cannot imaging later quests how many hours need to wait to play 1 game!!!!

It gets better, no way to defend higher level quests unless you buy the 3 GEM box for high level creatures because super high attack and defense point. Think using then brain storm? It doesn't help because the opponent got tons of them! You cannot win by defending with 1 brain storm spell cast each round against 4 lanes!

The physical game looks much more balanced and each card is useful, no in ios version which most of 1 star cards are useless against 3 star cards. They created the ios version rules to milk the buyers for more IAPs, and it is not a fun card game!

Brilliantly amusing thread! Haven't seen so much 4$-poles sticking in some people's bottoms in a while; they seem to think that the Appstore is some kind of welfare organisation. Bad, evil, cunning developers... putting the monetizing aspect over the happiness of players... put them at the stakes!

    Well ... no!

I would have no Problem if that game would cost 8,99 Euro ... without timers! ... and sorry, at the Point when I purchased it, I could not imagine, that I will buy freemium ware ...

If in the description a clear text would say: You have to pay if you want to play ten games per hour ... well: No way to buy this!

So I have complained at the Apple store ...
