Connect to Facebook! (Scores, etc) Hello, I made an account here just for this. A masterpiece of a game. Deep mechanics make it great. Please add a feature to connect to Facebook, that way maybe it'd sell more, also more scores to compare against.
Yup, I got it down too soon after watching the tutorial a second time. Bout done with the game now. Just unlocked the last 3 items with the eye insignias so I have those left to upgrade, but then I literally don't have anything else to do...cept daily heist I s'pose # Can't wait for new content!
That is pretty much the strategy, but it should be noted that some equipment cards (or some combination of equipment cards) are more luck-based than others. Some equipment card combinations are much more reliable than others at controlling the board enough to set up giant score combos. It really helps if you know all the various ways there are to raise and lower the strength level of the cards, and all the various ways the cards move around the board. And you should be able to think up a few scenarios where you can get 70+ treasures in one turn.
I'm slowly working my way through this entire thread, so my apologies if this has been mentioned / or answered. Admittedly, I play many more tabletop games these days (as well as apps created for them) than other video games. So I'm much more used to rulebooks with examples for gameplay. I think if Card Thief had a brief "manual" to read through, or even unlock, it could be beneficial for more casual gamers. Hardcore gamers wouldn't need to open it up, but casual ones could open it and see some quick examples via images/text that say, "In this example, this guard's value goes up when taking this path because..., but it doesn't go up as much when taking this path because..." as well as, "In this example, the gold value goes up when taking this path because..." Anyway, the TA and Pocket Tactics reviews made checking out Card Thief a no-brainer, and I stayed up way too late last night grinding through the first castle. While some things "clicked" for me as I grinded my way through, I was still left with questions as to exactly why/how some of the card values worked out in the way they did, as well as how some of the equipment cards worked. I could say that an IAP "guide" like what's mentioned above for $0.99 would work as well, but I could see some reviewers giving negative feedback for that. Edit: Yes, I'm aware there's a tutorial, and I've been through it a couple of times. I'm pretty confident I understand the basic mechanics, but what I mentioned above would still be helpful for me and/or other more casual gamers.
@Tinytouchtales - I enjoy Card Crawl and the tutorial taught me how to play but not this game. I just don't have time to sit down, concentrate for a few hours, and learn it. Call me lazy if you like. My only salvation is MOST reviews I've read mention the steep learning curve. That said, how about you providing a game play "walk through" video WITH COMMENTARY (read explanations ). Every video out there is sans comment and I think it would be an asset to the game and benefit many to provide a how to play video. You don't need to explain everything just the aspects that seem to stump people the most. Seems you should have some idea about what is confusing/confounding people the most. And no, at least for me, the tutorials don't do the job. And once made, you could link it from or embed it in the game. Please consider! Thanks.
Daily heist question Is the daily heist the same for everyone? Or is it random for everyone? So loving this game.
You are greatly exaggerating the learning curve. Hours? It should take 30 minutes tops to really wrap your head around this game. It's the same, hence the leader board.
@Mack the Knife have you taken a look at my super old gameplay teaser video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5LkmJqylfk
Agreed. Or at least nowhere being on the order of hours, other than becoming fully enlightened, I'm sure, which I certainly am not!
"I just don't have time to sit down, concentrate for a few hours, and learn it." exaggerated for effect... @Tinytouchtales, Thanks! and yes I have. However it's almost a year old so assumed things had probably changed. But that's what I mean. Make a new/current one and expand the explanation of key points a little more.
FAQ issue I could create an FAQ for this game, but the game developer might want to see one of the sections beforehand, in case it reveals unintended game behavior.
Hey, yeah FAQ would be cool. The easiest way would be to gather questions here that you would like to see and i write some proper answers and put them on Card Thief website.
Sitting and playing through, failing, and struggling then making break throughs are kinda at the heart of this game and a huge part of the fun....at least that's how it was for me. I've finished the current content and started playing Card Crawl for the first time now....I can't believe I left this game on my wish list for so long. Also, this tutorial does teach you how to play honestly, Card Crawl is just a much simpler kinda game.
