PocketTactis Review Congatulations for PT review: http://www.pockettactics.com/reviews/review-card-thief/ I don't know if someone has said it before but some times the game lags. When for example the guards are alerted, the game stops for a second and then continues. Is it possible to fix it please? I have iPhone 6 and ios 8 (thank God that it works in ios 8!). Thanks.
You've just sold the game to me. Difficult games with incremental successes are for me too. Plus Card Crawl was ace.
Hey guys, i'm investigating into the Game-Center report issue. I actually had that for quite some time but thought it would clear once the game is live. But it actually does not recognize or report the achievements to Game-Center it self. Since the latest iOS updates Game-Center is a mess anyways... The insignia types are bound to each heist: 1. Black Manor - Insignia has a little stylized house icon 2. Wolfskull - Insignia has a little skull icon 3. Owlclaw - Insignia has a claw 4. Bloodeye - Insignia has an eye Also again: In order to be able to steal treasures from an enemy he just has to be standing in the shadow. A little yellow diamond icon on the bottom indicates that you steal from him. When the guard turns yellow, it means you also don't spend stealth points because you sneaked past his backside. It's just a visual indicator that the guard now behaves like a treasure card.
Sorry I'm sure these have been asked earlier in the thread but I haven't found the answers - Firstly how do I get equipment cards? You don't start with them so do you just find them as cards and they get added to your inventory as you go along? And secondly why can't I pick up the chest when I find it - I keep trying and it keeps telling me I can't pick it up, despite me having no equipment cards yet. I'm slowly picking up the rest of the game and really enjoying the learning curve but I'm struggling to work those couple of things out Thanks in advance
I too had a lot of problems understanding some of the mechanics. Read back to see answers just a page or so back about equipment upgrading in case you also miss that. You have to go into the first part before you start a game, and scroll the screen downward to the guild master. There you select equipment. The insignias you get from opening chests in that guild master part are paid toward equipment. I think you have to drag the card once bought into the bottom slots. Only three slots though. Pretty sure you should have the cloak already. But I could be wrong. If you cant pick up a chest, you probably dont have enough sneak points. For some reason you can't go into negative sneak to pick up a chest.
Although death road to canada is getting a lot of hype on the main TA page, Card Thief seems to be close to as popular. Number 14 in the app store too. I much prefer artwork I can love whereas pixel art seems a confused mess much of the time. I can see how much work has gone into getting the atmosphere just right in Card Thief - making the look of it create a fantastic little world. I still think the layout could do with more explanantion, not so much the interaction of the game mechanics, as those are the interesting parts. There is a difference between making a game fun to unravel and making it annoying to figure out where the buttons are to do this or that, or that you have to do this step to upgrade equipment, or progress to the next map. Map progression is automaticc, but to start with it's confusing as to how you advance. These are small problems but it seems the game would be smoother, more enjoyable, if it was a bit more user friendly.
Aye! And, I can't wait to check out Card Crawl now myself, just bought it a few days ago, but I get through most of the last few bits of content I have left with Card Thief first. Then I can start up Card Crawl while waiting for new updates and content for Card Thief #
Absolutely, glad I and others could help. Trust me, I had some similar problems at first too, but I was lucky enough to play beta so I grasped a lot at official launch already.
Loving this game still. Need some help though. Seems like it is taking me a long time to get to the next stage in the map. Any tips?
I only get trash from the first castle now, ever since I went to the next one. Level 7 chest all trash, same here. Im only using that castle to get upgrades on equipment.
I can tell you what I do that I think is better strategy. I dont run over the helpful cards, like the foot that gives you stealth, the doors, the other exits, the doc who you pay for health, unless I have to, or need to to gain stealth. Wiping out the foot that can give you stealth is definitely not good, if it's in the light and on zero. I try to only take on guards at low cost. I think you may have run over one that was a nine? And if guards turn gold, that means you can pickpocket them at zero stealth cost, so I nearly always do that. I often knock out the lights first. But not if there's no benefit. If it's costing too much stealth, I may only do a short run onto two cards. Basically avoid guards unless you can knock them out at low cost, and try to get the most benefit out of the good cards. I've had end games where I only had good cards, or lights to deal with as all the guards have been wiped out. Though possibly that's random? I'm not sure if the deck always has the same numbers of each type of card.
Loving this one, super confusing to start off but if you stick with it, it's well worth it. Can't figure out the upgrade: surprise overseer from his backside. I've surprised every enemy from behind and haven't unlocked that upgrade. Also can't figure out the "steal ten treasures from warden." I've done that as well, stole coins from their backside even and haven't been able to hit the arrow to upgrade the card. Overall it's a great game but IMHO the whole card upgrade system needs a total rework. It doesn't work for me unless I put back all my cards/load out and then I can see what to do to upgrade them... even then it's still bugged or super confusing. I don't mind grinding, in fact it's part of the "fun!" When I have to try to finish a game using "no equipment cards" to upgrade and finally do it and the upgrade doesn't go because I had a card in my "active load out," then have to grind it again it with no cards from the beginning of the game... it goes beyond "fun," and leads into annoying quickly! Even a "start game and finish with no equipment cards" would of worked perfectly. We need a clearer upgrade path and description of what exactly is needed
I've got those too and I dont even know what an overseer is. Since wardens only appear on the second castle, maybe overseers appear later on?
I think they're the owls with lanterns, but it's not clear at all and I've killed a ton of them from behind.
The overseer is the guard with two heads, use a noise arrow on him so that both his heads look in one direction and make sure he's in shadow and approac him from his backside, you'll then surprise him. The warden is the guard with the torch, you can steal gold from him as long as you approach from his back side, this is a bit trickier. You need to make his value go up to 10 and then approach from his back and you'll get the upgrade. I used a cloak to get 17 stealth and went down to basically 1 or 2 stealth just to get this quest done, still managed to complete the heist.
Good to know. If you want to get a description of any card, just hold your finger on it until the little book unfolds.
