This game is awesome enough just with the basics, can't wait to see this with expansions , probably one of my best purchases in the iStore, ever.
I agree, we never play the game without I&C. Traders and Builders is good too and since they are the first couple expansions they will hopefully be a couple of the first choices for expansions.
Another update from the Dev site: http://blog.carcassonneapp.com/post/5448447493/after-another-long-period-of-radio-silence-were
This part is quite true: We love the game and think it deserves the time to make it truly great, instead of doing a quick but sloppy port, like it unfortunately happens so often on other platforms and to others of our favorite board games. We want to do better. Thanks for having the patience to let us do so.
Oh, yes. Yes! Expansions for Carcassonne probably top my wishlist for *anything* iOS-related, right up there with Guitar Pro editing, audio recording for Music Studio, and Bug Heroes online
This might be a good update for me, since I really like GameCenter (even though it's sort of primitive) and I'm a sucker for achievements and cheesy stuff like that. I haven't played Carc. in a while ... maybe it's time.
Thought I would reiterate my feelings on this and obviously others, just in case the devs actually visit this forum. I will gladly give them my $5, but I will not purchase until there is a half price sale. I have a friend who would never buy it at full price either, but I can convince him at $5, and he is pretty cheap in general.
I've never understood the fuss over this game. I think it's OK - not the worst game I've ever played, but certainly not one of the best. However, it does have possibly the best tutorial ever.
where were you guys for that whole year that it was for $5? And all the front page news about carcassone being $5 BEFORE it became universal? This game is well worth its asking price.
in version 2.0, I played an internet game last night, due to some Internet problems, the 4-5 achievements I earned are not synced to Game Center. So these achievements cannot be unlocked even now I meet the conditions.
Normally, achievements do little for me. Especially since many games feature ahievements that are either unavoidable ("Finish the tutorial"), or gradual ("Play 100 games"). Somewhere along the line, I think the etymology of "achievements" got twisted and bent. Not so with Carcassonne, though. Many of the achievements are truly hard to attain, and reflect particular accomplishments. These are the best achievements I've come across in an iOS game so far. On the price discussion: once you become invested in Carcassonne multiplayer, 5 or ten dollars will make little difference. Fifteen would not. You'll have your money back in a few hundred turns. There are few better investments for iOS, if you like deliberate, thoughtful strategy, and asynchronous multiplaying.
