Um I wasn't able to find a thread on here about modding your car and stuff so I figured I would create one.

My little brother and I just got new cars recently. He bought a 2002 Chevy Trialblazer and I finally was able to afford the GMC 2011 Yukon Denail Hybrid.

Seeing as how they are quite similar I am looking for a decent HiD Kit, Stereo, Speakers, and Subs. Anyone here have experience in this type of stuff? This is our first brother/brother project and our budget is not extreme.

I am looking for something entry level for both vehicles for the stereo and subs and speakers, but something pricey for the HiD kits. (I have a difficult time seeing at night, I wear glasses) so I need something bright.

I don't know what the difference between the 4600k, 8000k, and 10000k kits are so Im looking for advice.

Please and thank you gents and lassies.

First of all if you have trouble seeing at night don't buy a hid/xenon kit.
Since it uses white light its almost as if you're driving without lights in streets lit by streetlights. The standard yellow-y light reflects more off of objects then the aftermarket hid kits do. It's all about show not visability.
This is the case with aftermarket hid kits.

Second if you decide to buy hid kit remember to check if its legal for your car.
I live in the netherlands and if you want to put hid/xenon in a car build after 2007 you need to instal headlightwipers to avoid stray light, wich can blind other people.

last but not least about the hid. i build in the 8000k wich gets you a bright blue collored light. 10000k gets you more of a bright white/pinkish color
not sure about 4600k but my gues is just bright white light.

About the subwoofers and stuff, save your money. Just turn the volume up. :p Cause if you wanna do it right you'll have to pay a couple of bucks for a decent sound system. Better hook up your iphone or ipod into the standard radio and turn the volume up.

If you want to mod your car, youre better off with a decent air filter or exhaust instead of putting subwoofers in it. But that's just my 2 cents.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask them ;)

Don't get an aftermarket HID kit. They're expensive, a total hassle to install, and even more trouble to get your headlights aligned properly again.

Also Duss321 get your car out of the way so we can see the EP3. ;)

If we are sharing about cars, I feel like my project car is worth mentioning :p

A few months ago I ended buying a 1987 BMW m5 e28 that needed some engine and body work. Definitely got it for a good price.

Anyway after putting new rods and pistons into the engine I decided that more horsepower was needed. I started looking for a turbo charger kit for the e28 - but this was impossible to find and unless I wanted to spend over 1k on the turbo exhaust manifold my dreams of turbo charging this car were destroyed.

After hours research I found a company called Squires Turbo Systems (STS) which mount turbos in the rear of the car and replace the mufflers (don't worry, turbos act as mufflers in a way) and have the exhaust go straight in, then have a charge pipe go right back into the engine air intake. The prices for one of these kits were extremely overpriced for my budget, especially since I wanted to twin turbo it - and with a kit like this it was possible because my engine bay doesn't have enough room for two turbos.

Now I did some research for separate turbo parts to try and do my own remote turbo setup. Here's what I bought:

    Oil lines/fittings
Two t3/t4 turbos (very fast spool)
Oil tank and oil pump(in the drunk ONLY for turbos)
    Fuel pressure regulator x2
    Wastegatex2
    Boost controller
Then took it to a friends muffler shop and got it all piped together.

THERE IS NO NEED FOR AN INTERCOOLER BECAUSE TURBOS ARE NOT EXPOSED TO 500+ DEGREES OF THE ENGINE BAY :]

One problem that I had was losing a lot of pressure from turbos to the engine, and the reason for that was the charge pipe was too big.. So I thought to my self what would work best for a charge pipe..? SPOOL OF COPPER WIRE!

And now my car puts about 450 horsepower to the ground boosting 12psi

To get this much horsepower out of my car with a traditional turbo kit would have cost about 4k, I spent a little over 1k for the WHOLE setup (but hours of labor mind you. It sounds easy, but it's not)

It definitely helped having a full snap on tool case :)

It's priceless beating people in this car. Juuuusttt priceless.
