3 remarks after the update: 1/ "invite friends" with Game Center shows all my friends that don't have the app checked off. If you have a lot of GC friends, it makes it unusable to invite just one or a few ones. 2/ I had bought the 5 lives IAP, and it shows correctly an infinite number of lives in the games screen. But in the IAP screen, it's still possible to buy 10 or infinite lives, which is not a big deal but a bit weird. 3/ on the games screen it would be nice, for the games where it's my turn to play, to also know how much time I have left before the game is forfeited automatically. I Hope the update will work well enough to support the game And It took at least 10 days for Apple to process the app update, it's crazy long, isn't it?
Or a refund, that's what I ended up getting. It wasn't very gratifying to be an early supporter of the game. They still put together a pretty interesting game but I'm definitely turned off by the way they handled the transition in payment model.
This has cheesed me off a bit too. I bought the customisation 3 days ago. It's only 79p which is nothing but it's the fact that devs think that this is ok. Devs moan that it's so hard to make money etc but they pull stuff like this all the time but expect people to purchase future games etc. Why would the majority of people buy something (Whatever the cost) if they know it will go free soon. I do have to say it's the first time it's happened to me with Nimblebit but they are now another dev that I won't give money to. I'm not really sure why it's allowed to happen or why some people think it's ok or 'it's to support the developer' rubbish. If stuff like this happened on consoles or other things it would end up on Watchdog.
Why don't the devs allow special "early supporter" icons to those who bought IAPs initially? It wouldn't cost much to implement and would keep early supporters happy?!
They announced this change over a week ago, and discussed the reasons in this forum. It's mildly annoying, but literally everything in the entire world that you can buy is constantly going on sale and changing price...who has time to get angry about all of it? Oh fuuuuuuck, pineapple is only $1.99 a can this week? Godammit!!!
Been playing the game since release, and we really like it. Unfortunately the new payment model is a big problem. The videos to get a new game have never worked since the update. I am simply not willing to pay 99 cents for limited games. 9.99 for unlimited is just way too much. Please reduce the price for unlimited games to 2.99 and we will purchase! Thanks for making games nimblebit!
It would be too little too late now but at least it would have been something. Would feel a little disproportionate for the people who paid $2 more to get the top IAP unlocked as a thank you and customization users to get an early supporter badge but it certainly would have been easier to swallow than the alternative.
Are you playing with an Internet connection? Also, what country are you in? We might (not 100% decided) give customizers infinite lives in the next update. Also please keep in mind that the avg review time for updates right now is 10 days, which when added to dev time and QA means that realistically we can only make changes to the game every 3-4 weeks!
Round 85. All I have left to play is A O N. That doesn't make a word, so I guess I'll play NO and lose the game in round 86 Edit - it's still going :O That would be very generous.... I am not expecting anything in return to be honest. I have said this before but I have paid a lot more in the past for a lesser experience.
My son has been locked out of new lives since he updated this morning (7 am EST). He and I are on the same WiFi network. He's on an iPod Touch 5, updated to current. (I'm on an iPhone 6, but mine works.)
United States, and yes I have tried on multiple internet connections. Both devices are an iPod 5 so maybe that is related somehow. I'm aware of the time it takes to get updates out on the Apple Store. It's unfortunate because I can't justify paying 10 bucks, and all my lives are gone. I will pretty much have to quit playing. Hopefully I will get interested again once the update hits. Still love the game though and some of your other games as well!
We uninstalled, keeping data in GameCenter. The new copy gave him 15 lives, put him through the tutorial again, lost his longest word, and lost his customization. All his current games remained live, and he has his achievements and statistics. 20 minutes in, and the ads are still unavailable. (Thanks for adding the tile deselect sound!)
Ooops, forgot to mention you need to be signed into iCloud to save your customization, longest word, and some other things.
Are you using Weblock or another ad blocker? I just tried turning this on and rebooting the app and sure enough, ads were unavailable.
Now that customization is all free, this is a great opportunity to transition to rewardable icons and achievements that grant you icons you can "brag" about. I think that would encourage people to play even more. Love the game, but real missed opportunity if they don't. Think of Hearthstone and how often the player is rewarded with unlockable stuff
