As an English-speaker, I wouldn't think an opponent who plays those words is cheating. Those are all words I would play. Bivouac is a great word for word games as it can get you out of a bind if all you have are vowels and tricky consonants, and anyone who's done any mounaineering or camping should know the word. I would play minuet instead of minute just for variety and I don't think pimento is an unusual word at all (although I do like my food). Anyway, I just stopped by to say that as I carry on playing I'm really enjoying the tactic of letting my opponent capture my capital. If you have tough letters around your capital, sometimes it's better to build up a strong base elsewhere, take the hit and rebuild from a stronger point. Opponents will often be so pleased that they've captured your capital that they'll leave their own wide open for an immediate strikeback. Also, I thought I'd share my favourite notification so far: No Lettuce played MUTTON.
I suspect it involves playing a particular word, and I've been looking for an opportunity to play it for several games, but haven't had chance to confirm or deny yet!
Hmmm, perhaps a swipe from the right side could go to the next game. You wouldn't be able to swipe the other way though because that takes you back to the games list. I'll play around with it.
Yeah, I'm the one who played bivouac, etc. Can confirm I'm not cheating Just played minuet for variety. Pimento is not an obscure one. I have a decent vocabulary, but enjoy the strategy aspects of games like this more than the vocab part. I find Scrabble tedious because word memorization is so essential (plus boring defensive strategies are generally rewarded). One nice part about Capitals is that long words are very important, and Scrabble players haven't had those drilled into their brains. But get matched against a decent Boggle player and you'll get waxed. I wouldn't mind a game like this capping the dictionary at the top however many most common English words, but someone would always rather the cut-off be pushed a little further.
There is a camping store in my hometown called bivouac, so that was one of the first five-dollar words I learned. Nothing like a nice MT -- Mutton and tomato sandwich, no lettuce. Game Center Name: dmcintyre
Hey TriggyWiggy, I sent you friend request on GameCenter. I can promise you won't see any stupid word from me OK then, that's good enough for me! Well, I'm still playing with you even though there's no chance in hell I can withstand such variety of words any longer than a few rounds. Anyway, I'm not giving up yet
Lol, sorry macplash. I just played INHUMER against you, after learning it in an earlier post about annoying words (Don't feel TOO bad for this guy! He played HYPOXIC and HEMPIER against me in this game!)
How do you get the winstreak achievements? Ive won 8 in a row, 4 of them against randomly matched but got nothing? If it is based on unique opponents I should at least have the 4 in a row one, right?
...and I genuinely believe you as per your knowledge of other games too. Completely agree about the long words, I've been playing WWF too long, my Mum plays WWF but also plays a lot of Boggle and I'm noticing the huge words she is throwing at me since getting her hooked on Capitals!!!
Just taking my turns in bed before I go to sleep - please please please have a NIGHT MODE - it's very white and bright!
