The application "Alarm Clock" was not installed on the iPod "Terry's iPod" because it is not signed.

    I've tried
    - deauthorizing and reauthorizing my account
    - deleting the app and installing it fresh
    - upgrading iTunes
    - rebooting the computer

    Why - why - why...

And I'm using the official iOS 4 release. No jailbreak.

    Advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like the signature file may be corrupt. Try deleting the app entirely and downloading a new copy from iTunes.

Yes, that may be the reason. If nothing works, look on the Apple forums or call them up, they should be able to help you out.

I did, and I get the same error. :(

I completely forgot about Apple support. Lol. Instead of trying to fix this problem myself, I could get someone else to fix it! :D

    I'll try that.

    Thanks for the suggestions, peeps.

That's curious. Have you tried downloading it directly to your phone instead of using iTunes?

I probably should have before completely destroying my iPod. I just tried to do a restore and now it's stuck in recovery mode. And to believe all of this started because I tried to update New York Times, Apartments, Dropbox, and a Bible app.

Stuck in recovery mode? What happens when you try to restore (you're restoring to 4.0.1, right)?

I think it's restoring now. I see the Apple icon and a progress bar, and iTunes says it's "restoring Apple software." And now it's "verifying" it. And now it's telling me that the iPod "iPod" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (6).

    Restore from DFU mode instead.

Thank you for taking the time to help me.

I'll give the link a look, and see if there's any information there that can help. If all else fails, I'll probably just take this thing to the Apple store and let them work with it.

    Australia, mate!
It's nothing serious. Do you have multiple accounts? If yes, log onto the account you used to purchase "Alarm Clock" on iTunes and then try syncing your iDevice.

No multiple accounts, but I did discover the problem...

    Zone Alarm

I took my iPod to the Apple store and they got it out of recovery mode and restored it to default settings. After doing some tests at home, and uninstalling some programs, I discovered ZONE ALARM was the program creating the illusion of unsigned apps to iTunes. Everything is back to normal now. Woot woot.

Thank you all for your help and suggestions.

    :)

    http://www.zonealarm.com

It's a Firewall that doesn't play nice with iTunes.
