Anyone else having an issue with the settings after downloading the update? They keep going back to the default every time I open the app. I tried rebooting, which didn't work. Then I reinstalled; as a result, I now cannot access or use my nickname. Which is wack.
For some reason this update has totally destroyed the frame rate on my 3rd gen iPod Touch. Even when I turn wi-fi off I still get the problem... Has anyone else encountered this?
I'll confirm this. Playing it on a iPhone 3GS, and the framerate is probably 1/2 of what it was before the update. I think we need an update for the update. It's semi-playable in it's current condition, but pretty hard on the eyes after a while. Looks like they optimized it for the iPad... and forgot about the other iDevices. UPDATE: I checked their website, and apparently they've posted that it "might be slow the first time you run after the update, since it has to reimport the high scores and other maintenance". However, I've run it 4 or 5 seperate times for a decent amount of time, and the framerate is still way lower than it used to be, so I think there must be something dodgy about this update. Sent an email to [email protected]. Hopefully they can get a fix in quick.
Same here. First time, second time and third time. On 3.1.3 and on 4. And highscores were lost. Canabalt 1.2 and 1.3, on my iPhone 3GS, wasn't so high in frame rate, but it was playable.
Framerate was always great on my 3GS (well... until now). 1.2 and 1.3 worked perfectly. Basically the same as the flash game. Now I'd call it approaching unplayable.
reinstalled new update and yep, frame rate is not as good as it was on 3gs, i wonder which devices exactly has frontpage reviewer. but i would not say it's unplayable, it's ok.
Not really sure of the mentality behind posts like this. Do you expect the dev to see and think "cripes! terrycoin wants a sale" and immediately drop the price so that you personally can buy a copy? What was the thinking behind your post? What made you feel like the thread simply needed that input? Not having a go or owt, just genuinely curious as to why you spent your time telling us that. (The same applies to any such post, yours just happened to be the first one I saw today )
Maybe it's subjective. I think Canabalt 1.2, 1.3 and flash weren't really fluid. Perfectly playable, though, and really fun. If you want to help devs, send an email to [email protected].
Yeah, sent my mail yesterday. And it's true flash/1.2/1.3 might not have been "perfectly" fluid, but they were a hell of a lot better than it is now. And to tell you the honest truth, once it speeds up, playability really suffers in the current version on the iPhone.
First time poster here - has anyone found that recently Canabalt has been unable to retrieve or submit high scores online? For the past few days mine times out trying to view global scores or update my profile info in the game. (running the latest version of Canabalt on iPad)
And now it appears to be working again - looks like the cause may have been that their main semisecretsoftware.com server has been down or something.
I might get this game when it goes free.. I don't think it's worth the $4 IMO. Because, I can easily play this online, and when on the move, there's a variety of games using the same theme/idea, Chop Chop Runner etc.
A little surprised and disappointed that there's been nothing from the devs about the framerate drop, seeing as it seems to be consistent for so many of us (I'm certainly seeing it on my 3GS). One of the best things about Canabalt was how fluidly the game moved, how smooth the animation was. To have that replaced with this comes pretty close to turning a good purchase into a bad one. Here's hoping they can and will address it with another update.
No, I don't think you quite understand... as derek420 said, the cost of this game has never dropped, not even by a cent... So, for those who are waiting... well, enjoy the wait. It's a classic example of this genre and rightly so. Just hope they will get the frame rate back to what it was...
I had some emails back and forth with one of the devs on Tuesday. They're definitely aware and looking into the problem.
