Very well said. Sums up how I feel about Canabalt. I haven't bought it yet but saw this thread yesterday and played the online flash version a few dozen times. The atmosphere is indeed fantastic.
I couldn't back up my argument? Actually I did. Just because you don't want to hear it doesn't mean I didn't. BTW, I asked where your evidence was that would prove your point, and you still haven't provided any. You just keep posting your personal preferences and opinions about the game as if they were facts. Not to mention that with every new post, you come off sounding more ignorant and childish than ever. Calling me "rude" and saying that I was "crying like a baby". If anyone is crying here, it's you. I was willing to agree to disagree, but you keep posting ignorant comments in an attempt to keep this argument going, because it appears that you can't accept the fact that not everybody feels the way you do. Let it go man.
I guess this proves others people don't mind paying the prices...now lets see if they are going to try to take the top by lowering the price or just staying as they are. oh and congrats guys.
I wasn't quite sure what an Apptard was til I read this thread... Game looks great and it's definitely going on my "must buy" list.
Modes I don't know about you guys, but can you think of any possible new modes for this game besides a story mode or level progression mode?
I can't really think of any modes off the top of my head, but I'd like new objects/traps/deaths and a new level or two with new background artwork. The artwork is pretty stunning already, the only problem is it makes me crave more.
Ok, I can't stand it any longer.....downloading now Just Pleeeeeeeeease add leaderboards very soon .........openfeint maybe ................
I think some kind of double jump mechanic might be cool, along with alternate routes (through/over) a building.
Why didn't I think of that? Definitely, this is one. Like, you have the option to go over or through a building, maybe sections where you're actually inside a building? What about slanted buildings, ramps, split-level buildings, etc. As for double jump, that would be awesome, but they'd probably have to design a whole new building randomization process so it isn't so easy.
Bought it, love it, anxious for updates. I wish the high scores were shown when your game is over instead of having to restart the game to get to the high score board. maybe I missed something and you can see it when your game is over..........? nice little game
One more thing............... The game is awesome and worth the 2.99. I want more games like this so I support the dev ……….people are out of control with the whole .99 thing ……..when you look at all the money most of us spend everyday, it's nothing. I say leave the price alone and let the cheapskates suffer !!! They want it but are just being super cheap even if it means not having anymore games from this awesome dev.............while the .99 argument is going on, I am enjoying this game NOW ........we all need to make a living and some can't or or don't want to do it at .99 ......... their choice. edit: did not mean to quote myself, just wanted to add to my post...........lol
Bought it as it looks a good pick up and play game to carry around and so far it looks good DEV: to echo what others in here who have supported you - please add online leaderboards, look at Doodle Jump or Orbital as examples. More variety of scenery and colours would be nice and some kind of multiplayer over Bluetooth, not sure how with the randomness of scenery. Sections where you need to jump and swing on ropes which would slow the pace down just a little might give you a few seconds breather and add a different timing/skill element? Good game, hope it does well, given the price I'm hoping we see some awesome updates to make this even better.
doodle jump for online leaderboards definately. showing the highscores of others written tiny with arrows along the bottom of the screen would be awesome (with an option to show yours or everyones). then access to the list when not in the game.
That's genius, I totally forgot about Doodle Jump's amazing score tracker. Adam Atomic, you should definitely implement something like that in Canabalt.
i disagree. The colours are better left untouched. The grey, black, white colour scheme is great. it suits the aura of "alien invasion" or whatever that is going on the background when you play the game. because it's dark, edgy. I dont want it to be bright with different colours. But I agree with the variety of scenery.
whatever you do dont change the colors. The sweet B&W graphics are one of the coolest parts of the game!
I tried the Lite version of Run! and had absolutely no interest in buying it. I would much rather spend five minutes doing Canabalt runs than jump kicking sharks in Run!. Obviously it's a matter of preference, but the polish level and atmosphere of Canabalt are just way ahead in that race. Also, we're posting pictures of crying babies now? Seriously? Glad to see you kids are all having fun out on the playground.
I'd like more colours. It seems the people who don't want them think that somehow they'll turn out all bright and neon, spoiling the atmosphere. If you're any good at art you can add colour without that happening. You can keep it toned down and maintain the foreboding... but in a separate level of course. I vote for a sunset level, maybe something like the Oil Ocean stage in Sonic 2.
