This is a port of a flash game, I hope 99% of the money goes to the music composer because if anything they deserve the extra $
I wanted to see what all the hype was about with this game, and so I played the flash version. It is pretty fun, but for whatever reason, I did not get the "Wow" factor, and after playing it a few times - I sort of had my fill. I think that these types of games just grab at different personality types, or different gaming preferences - but I think even more subtle, as there are games of this genre - that I can't stop playing once I start - and after 30 - 60 minutes I think I must be nuts spending that time on a mindless romp... But, it puts a smile on my face. I did this with Run - and still enjoy that. On the plus side of this game - the graphics, and the gradual speed up are just great. The game really plays like a dream - I wish that it did grab me, as I think it looks so wonderful. I will come back to the flash game a few more times, and see what happens.. I probably should not poke my nose in the price discussion - but I will - I think that first and foremost the developer has to set prices for what makes them comfortable. I am very confident that the vast majority of TA members are of the teen - young adult, and therefore have never run a business, or had their livlihoods at stake... Coming from that perspective - one has to set up choices of what you are willing to live with - a person with a high level degree can certainly offer themselves to a company for a paltry salary - but if they feel they are worth more, then they need to hold out for that better salary - does this result in a lot of rejection? Of course - but in the end - and months, and sometimes years can go by, holding true to ones values generally pays off. It may mean settling for lesser paying jobs in something else - the worth of those is necessarily less - but the persons life work, or in this case - the devs work - has to be placed at what they feel is appropriate - and if it only sells 1 copy - so be it - if they lose their shirt - so be it. Much of what we see here comes from foreign markets where cost of living is hundreds of times less then the US. For those who have traveled the world - they know of what I speak - for those who have lived in the US - you have no idea how little people live on in many countries. So, dropping prices has a significantly lower effect on their ability to earn a living. Anyways - I'll get off my soapbox now.
I have no interest in arguing, unlike you. What you should do is go back through the thread and count the number of people that you know have played it and when we don't hear back from you, we will assume that you've learned your statement was incorrect.
how could it be truly incorrect when you yourself have no idea on who played it or didn't? the way you go on about nothing is astounding. please contribute some real points in the future on the subject.
I think this game is well worth $2.99 but that's because I can see myself playing this over and over again for hours on end. I guess some people don't see the same charm and brilliance in this game that I do. There is nothing wrong with that, it's just personal opinion.
The devs are making almost no money on the flash game. The iPhone game is an attempt to actually get paid for the game he made. And given that Canabalt is now #43 in Action Games and climbing a mere half-day after launch tells me they priced it right.
whats your point, if gamers in here are casual enough to question prices then the ones who dont go on these websites are likely even more casual gamers who want to get more for their money.
Are you daft or did you just not read the thread, as you claim? I'm one of the people who actually left their impressions of the game. It's a simple concept, really. Your statement that you are "fairly certain" everyone has played it is baseless and when given the chance to prove it, you don't.
If I pay more than $2 for a game i expect more than "tap only to jump over things" I bought Super KO Boxing 2 for $5, now that's a game.
Awsome it made it to the itouch! I am looking forward to supporting the devs for such a great flash game. At 2.99 I'll play the free version for now , but when the price drops or when online scores come I'm there!
sorry, i thought it would be obvious that i meant for you to bring points to the current discussion, not your impressions on the game. i too have given my impressions on the title. and whether the statement is baseless or not has already been shown to be of no importance. the point was the validity of the opinions of buyers and non buyers. you of course love to sidestep that point and just focus on a part of my post that is throwaway and meaningless. it's playground argument tactics and it's bad form all around.
To be honest, I was expecting more to the gameplay from the free flash version, like powerups or something...anything but it wasnt there. Just what they call lazy port. Shopping Cart Hero is a cool flash game that made its iphone entrace the right way, even with the price. If that game were $3 I'd say the same thing about that one and that game has way more to the gameplay than this lol.
I think I'd dare to argue against that People who bought the game may have a better idea of whether or not it's worth the price, but they're not the people the devs are trying to convince. They've got their money already, now it's time to work on the rest... All it's gonna take for this to be worth the price (in my opinion) is a couple of content updates, and it seems as though we'll be getting some... so hooray!
wait, you just said you expected more gameplay for the money - but this other game with "way more gameplay" you would say the same thing? You just expect it to be 99 cents no matter what it is, is what it sounds like. I am starting to think there is just no way to make you happy.
