I love this argument. People always complain that they don't want to risk their money on games without lite versions but in this case you can play the entire game for free and decide whether you want to pay for that or not. Instead of appreciating the fact that you can play this awesome game for free and then decide whether to pay for a mobile version apparently it devalues the iPhone version? If the free version was removed, would the iPhone version suddenly be worth more? I've been playing this more than Dungeon Hunter, does that mean it's 'worth' 6.99?
I love the flash version and that is enough for me to get it. I just wish there was more story around it than running over the buildings. I wish I knew a little bit more about what I was running from. I love the pixel 'nintendo kung fu' look.
Hmmm. Well this game has style, attitude, and is fun to play. Though after a few runs it starts to wear on ya but hey that's why you buy it so you can let it sit for a bit then launch the game after a good break. I can understand some of the words on price but really no need to bring it up we already know some don't want to spend more than 99 cents on applications. No worries just don't tread on me The only one button games are always a fun past time and yes it isn't always easy to bring a laptop around with you everywhere so picking this up for your phone isn't a bad idea.
You probably have already seen this, but check out the skyscape animations, and I think the story tells itself. arn
i like how the character is 8 bit and they throw in some really good background animations on top of that.
My review of the game [app]Canabalt[/app] is freaking awesome; the pacing, the mood, the tension, the style, the artwork, the little details, the replay value, and the gameplay. All of it. There is no part of the core gameplay that I would want to see changed.
There was another game I had and I think it was called "jump on a building"(jumping from building to building)...not sure ......similar idea as this but I am assuming this is more polished. Any comparison between these two ?
That's what sets this game apart for me from Run, Mr Ahh, etc. The sense of urgency that Canabalt generates is palpable: you want to get the hell out of that city. And though I assume that the music is looping somewhat randomly, whenever the beat picks up I get this Bad-Boys-2-style "This sh*t just got real!" feeling that's just great.
I think people should be allowed to moan about the price. Look at Spider, no one moaned about the price. Why? Because everyone that saw it/bought it/played it thought it was worth $2.99. The fact that so many people have already said they don't feel this game is worth $2.99 is a very strong indication that non-forum goers visiting the App Store are thinking the exact same thing. A lot of people pointing it out doesn't necessarily mean that a lot of people are being cheap or greedy, it means it's probably a valid point.
It's already been clearly and patiently explained why people might want to see a Lite version rather than play the Flash one.
This does look sweet (and the flash version is brilliant), but I have to agree with others who have voiced their opinion. 2.99 feels a bit steep for this kind of game and I will wait until a price drop...
I have read through most of the discussion on this game and have seen comparisons made to "run" and "jump on the building" has been mentioned but the two have not been compared unless I missed it which is possible. I did not like jump on the building but from what I can see this game is much more fast paced.................can anyone comment who has played jump on the building ?
You've seen comparisons, but they've not been compared? My opinion is that JOTB lacks everything I've mentioned about Canabalt, except tension. For me, the difference is night and day. What they share is a concept. JOTB is free, online Canabalt is free. I recommend that you play them yourself and develop your own opinion. (Edit: re-reading this, it sounds like I'm trying to be a jerk, but that wasn't my intent. I just meant that my opinion will matter less to you than your own, so you might as well check them out yourself.)
