Creative Zen 8 GB. Actually pretty nice for a first mp3 player. And of course I was a cool kid and totally against Apple's overrated products and everything. Looking back on it, I was a bit of a prick. My first and still my phone. Touchscreen is crap but the thing is built like a brick. I could slam it against the wall and it'd still work. As I recall, though, before the iPod Touch, I was upping my dose on Prozac every day.
Seems Creative was a pretty popular first choice. I'm still winning in the "crappiest Zen" competition though
I had this for my first mp3 player - it was busted slightly from a forklift accident so my friend gave it to me. It lasted another 6 r 7 months and then gave out and I got a Samsung YP-K3 which lasted 18 months. The Samsung got me through some long work days...
which version is that? im really bad about identify any of the ipods minus the touch, they are obv, and them little box things that go on your arm. chris.
I had a modded PSP & a modded DS & could've gotten games on those handhelds for free, but I gave both up for iDevice gaming. Not only that, but I jailbroke by iPhone, but never attempted to pirate anything from the AppStore.
Well, before I had an iDevice, my life was a cold fragmented life, I felt like a turtle (I like tuttles-ya know?) poking my head out to see the new devices come and go like hookers on a sidewalk in downtown Manhattan on a Friday night. Ya know, life was alright for me, but for the others, well it was like we were animals again. No dominant device meant that it was war for top dog. Ya know, my life never changed after several CEO's and high salesmen tried to 'WOW' me with 'revolutionary' technology. Living in my whole, I learned to be accustomed to this 'Apple iPod'. Way back in the 00's of the 21st Century, Mr. Steve Jobs revealed this new device to challenge the Sony' Walkman or the like. We were all anticipating a new newton PDA with no features. We were greatly saddened. Within a couple years everyone had an iPod, from round little 4GB Minis to Classics, to the new-no screen-iPod Shuffle, which was my first choice due to the price. Another attraction to Apples' iPod was iTunes, which was nice and simple in the early stages with millions of songs and a couple other items being sold for 99 cents. It was good quality at the time, which was later revived but brought prices up 30 cents. Then, 2007, Mr. Jobs reveals the iPhone-a device they started planning for in approximately 2001. 1 year later brought the app store as well as the non-phone, iPod Touch, and a new 3G iPhone. Each year, Apple has shown their powering by releasing new iPods and iPhones, with stunning new features. I, unlike many others, could not live without my iPod, from my first Generation iPod Shuffle, to my 30GB 5th Generation iPod Classic, to my 16GB 2nd Generation jailbroken iPod Touch, to later this year with a 4th Generation iPod Touch. It was tough without an iDevice, but I made it through, as well all did.
I was using my old iPod the other night, since it has some music my Touch doesn't. And I'm sitting there poking the screen like crazy trying to skip a song, thinking, "why the hell is this piece of crap so unresponsive?" Then I remembered: Buttons. You have to push the buttons. The screen is just for displaying stuff. (...What kind of crazy caveman nonsense is that?) Sheesh. How did we survive?
im not sure...my sister has an ipod..and she uses it for MUSIC!?! ONLY MUSIC?!? we where such primitive creatures back then...
Hahaha! I had the first iPod. It broke. Then I lived a couple of Years with my Nokia 6500, next came my iPhone 3GS and the rest is history!
Never, my first Creative has to be the crappiest: Or at least the biggest and most cd player lookingish. Think it was 20GB. That picture is actually pretty accurate down to the scuffs too, remember the buttons wearing off and it getting scratched to hell too. But it was awesomely rugged. I had a Creative Zen:M directly before my first and current ipod. But that poor player had an unfortunate accident with an ice bucket
I used to have a lot of portable music players. The one that I love is sony walkman. Gave it to my sister. Currently i'm using touch 3g. Love it. Use it primarily for gaming and medical apps. But in terms of sound quality, as pmp, I say sony walkman is much superior and i'm planning to get the new one. Either walkman X or A model with noise cancelling feature. Wish me good luck.
Ahhhh.... gadgets. Used to be an addict with portable sound quality and was spending a ton of money comparing stuff. Then the App Store addiction came. I still love SQ but that'll be for my home setup. Nevertheless, I still love my classic Sony Walkmans (portable sound quality euphoria). The pic you see is not even half of what I have. The worse days was when I got hooked with Minidisc. Creative fans, had a ZVM before the Apple iPod bug bit me.
When it comes to portables, yeah. I've been through a bunch. I used to carry 3 separate devices on me, a PDA, cell phone, and MP3 player. The last time I carried 3 separate devices was an iPod Touch, iPhone and Dell Axim X50v (WinMo 6 hack). When the iPhone 3GS came out with a 32GB model I ditched the iPod Touch, and ultimately ditched the Axim when I decided I just wasn't using it anymore, and the iPhone had taken over my every-day use, despiite the fact that the Ax was much more customizable.
