Thanks, I got NRJ6HEAAP4N3. It's a cool platformer. It has a lot of cool little things that makes it more appealing than a number of other platformers on the App Store.

It's not possible to leave AppStore reviews if a game has been purchased with a promo code. I think it was to stop fake reviews but it can be frustrating.

Well, since I pinched it at 11:30 last night and it's now 8am....

@Jordan I'm assuming this is single play through only with no saves? I closed the app and now I'm back at the beginning. If that's the case can I ask how many levels there are? I usually don't play for extended periods of time. It would be nice to be able to replay levels. Controls work fine and the levels offer room for exploring. In the second level there is an upper area that I'm not sure how to get to yet. Same in the first level, there is a crystal I can't seem to reach. Will the crystals be used later to purchase or upgrade anything?
Would love to see a proper home screen and a screen between levels telling me how I did. What time I got through in, what percentage of coins I grabbed, etc. And a game save and ability to replay with ought restarting, unless that is your intention as in the early Mario games where you play straight through but I believe they had game saves.

Hey CygnetSeven, There's a tutorial that plays after the first boss (maybe I should have put it earlier :D), that lets you know that you can warp to any level in the game that you have already visited. If you hit the pause button and go to "Map" it will show you what youve already unlocked and you can jump around to wherever you want to go.
We did have a scene between the levels, but we ended up deciding to cut it, because we want 99% of the player's time to be spent in the moment-to-moment gameplay. That's a great suggestion about the stats though, we will have to put that in if we make a Cally's Caves 3!
And yes, there are ton's of secrets and gems hidden up high, etc. around halfway through the game, you find a "Spike Gun" That allows you to shoot spikes in the wall and use them as platforms... So there's some replayability built in, once you get everything unlocked, you can go back and hit all the secret areas you missed the first time around (this is especially useful for gearing up to fight the final boss).
Anyway, really glad you are enjoying it, and I probably should have put the map tutorial earlier :)

All makes more sense now. I assumed I hadn't played enough to figure it out yet. Thanks for the tips. (By the way, I hate bats.) (Or at least I do now.) I wish you all the luck on your launch. When it comes I'll pop in and leave a proper review in your main thread, hopefully I will have all this figured out by then. ;)

When I first played, i thought that I had to restart each time. Very frustrating. But, playing further, I notice that you restart at the beginning of a specific level or area. Gets frustrating because some of the levels are quite long. Admittedly, at first I thought I would have to start at the very beginning every time I got out because the length of the first level made it seem that way.
Now I am re-starting in an area with bats and wolves! :).

It's interesting to me that apple doesn't make it more clear. You'd be surprised at how many developers don't know this fact.

Don't despair though. Touch Arcade is the best place online 'out there' for starting the promotion of, getting feedback and getting advice for your app.
Awesome family of strangers here! LOL

For example; because I tried the game, you now understand that the jumping mechanism, although easy to learn, may give problems to some players (There are some stupid people out there. LOL -Kidding!) and that you might need a little extra instruction in the app or in the description at the App Store to keep the negative reviews away.
There's a lot of information here on promoting your app as well.

When it comes to reviews that you get from people that you've given promo codes too; take advantage of it.
If there's a specific part of my review you liked, or someone else's, use it. (Ask their permission first of course.
I've never seen someone say no.)
If someone writes a specific statement in their review that you like, when you promote your app elsewhere, i.e.: your web page, face book, iTunes description..... use that statement.

I'll start with the review I wrote for you as an example. This does not mean I think it's a great statement, or not... just using it as an example.

"A guitar playing guide that shows up anytime out of nowhere and a little girl in pony-tails with a sword and a shotgun. What more could you want?? - Touch Arcade member; Lavender

"Cally's Caves 2 is pixelated goodness with just the right amount of challenge, frustration, & cuteness. The fun is worth the download. " - Touch Arcade member; Lavender

"I had a lot of fun with the original callus caves so will be checking this out for def." - Touch Arcade member; Cloudpuff

" It's a cool platformer. It has a lot of cool little things that makes it more appealing than a number of other platformers on the App Store." RampageDeluxe member of Touch Arcade

Use partial reviews from different places. Just don't take them out of context because it is just rude.

If you want some free advice on where and how to post and promote your game in different places, send me a pm.

    Good luck!
