CygnetSeven Well-Known Member Feb 6, 2010 7,596 33 48 #4 CygnetSeven, Jun 24, 2012 I would agree. Interesting variant on the traditional snake game. Exact-Psience Well-Known Member Jan 12, 2012 22,664 2 38 The Work-At-Home Guy Philippines #5 Exact-Psience, Jun 24, 2012 Yeah picked this up a couple days back and having a good time with it. The type of characters you get to play makes for some interesting strategy while keeping the snake formula intact. Only downside is that some characters are just easier to play with more than others. 3parkbenchhydra Well-Known Member Mar 20, 2012 147 0 0 #6 3parkbenchhydra, Jul 19, 2012 Last edited: Jul 19, 2012 Glad to see this got written up on the front page! I've been playing it for a couple of weeks now and love it. It's simple to play with solid controls but definitely gets more challenging as it progresses, the IAP is utterly unnecessary unless you have zero reflexes (and why are you playing a Snake-like game if you have no reflexes?), the character art/design is great, and even the music is fun. Great little time-waster. EDIT: As Exact-Psience points out above, probably the only outstanding issue is that the characters could use just a little bit of balancing. Right now I do best with the "Balanced" guy, the "Melee" guy, and the "Heavy Armor" dude. The faster ones should be more fragile, of course, but they seem just a tad TOO fragile, since they're fast but not fast enough to outrun bullets. Horr0r Member Jul 18, 2012 7 0 0 Student Manchester #7 Horr0r, Jul 20, 2012 Really love this game, The way that Magic Cube used the legendary classic 'snake' and added guns was a great idea. In the future I'd love to see new characters or possibly a feature where you can create your own character and upgrade them that would be amazing. 9/10 from me!! HLW Well-Known Member Sep 2, 2010 1,355 0 0 UK #8 HLW, Jul 20, 2012 I'm glad I noticed this topic, I missed seeing this when it was on the front page, this is great fun! I like how the guys you rescue have different attacks eg some are snipers, some close range, some wide range, some are healers. Also there are enemy 'snakes'! Great fun for 59p. grits Well-Known Member May 28, 2012 622 0 0 #9 grits, Apr 13, 2013 So this is a better version of nimble quest without crappy IAP? Why haven't more people played? Drummerboycroy Well-Known Member Apr 2, 2012 4,172 0 36 Clinician Maine! #10 Drummerboycroy, Apr 13, 2013 Weird. I was just thinking this last night when I finally decided to give up on the endless, pointless grind that is NQ. And now today, here is a new post. Oddly enough, if you take the comments in the NQ thread in aggregate, what you have is essentially complaints about the IAP and lack of a point to progressing. Perhaps there just isn't anything to complain about with CoS? I know I enjoy it, and went back to it last night... DBC JoshW66 Well-Known Member Nov 29, 2012 65 0 0 #11 JoshW66, Apr 13, 2013 Me, too! I've gone back to CoS 'cause Nimble Quest reminded me if it, I reloaded CoS and found that I just keep playing CoS. awp69 Well-Known Member Oct 30, 2009 8,249 0 36 Greenville, SC #12 awp69, Apr 13, 2013 Yeah, funny how the Nimble Quest thread went wild, but this game got so little attention. To answer the question, it's very similar and no need at all of IAPs. Only thing is there are sort of "timers" if you die. But you have five or six characters to use so in a way it just forces you to adapt to the different heroes' abilities. It's great game and the only reason I play Nimble Quest is liking the fantasy style of that game. Otherwise I would have stuck with this. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #13 nightc1, Apr 13, 2013 I'm digging back into CoS. It's one of my favorite IOS games. I'm on the fourth world called the"Plains of Snow". I want to get the achievement for finishing all the levels. It's good to be playing a game again that has achievements. DaviddesJ Well-Known Member Patreon Bronze May 19, 2010 2,493 14 38 Burlingame CA #14 DaviddesJ, Apr 14, 2013 I have found the timers in the other Magic Cube games annoying enough that I stopped playing them even though I really liked the underlying concepts. And it's kept me from trying otherwise highly rated games like Army Wars Tactics. Just a poor design element for what otherwise seems a creative collection of games. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #15 nightc1, Apr 14, 2013 The timer in CoS is I think 5 min. So if you get even average at this that its hard if you switch characters to ever not be able to play. Usually in 2 or 3 games the first dude that died is already back. There are 6 characters in this with different abilities. Anyway, I'm having a blast with this. The dev mentioned recently the desire to make a sequel. Day one purchase if that happens. It's sad though they worry people will think its a nimble quest clone even though this came before and inspired the devs to clone the gameplay for NQ. Pocketnova Well-Known Member Oct 15, 2012 2,346 0 0 #16 Pocketnova, Apr 14, 2013 Oh, I might just have to pick this one up! Looks awesome! nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #17 nightc1, Apr 14, 2013 If you like a hard rocking soundtrack this game may just surprise you at how freaking awesome it is. Gameplay requires actual strategy as you get to see where the enemy can attack for a moment. It's really refreshing turning the old brain box back on for this kind of game. 14.9MB installed too is a major plus. Since I got this its never even been considered during one of my phone clean offs. I think Plasma Sword is joining that exclusive group of games for me as well. nightc1 Well-Known Member Oct 19, 2012 4,362 0 0 AL #18 nightc1, Apr 14, 2013 Update: I'm now finishe with the first 4 levels of the 4th world (Snow). I've been really close to finishing the 5th level, so I think I'll get that soon enough. The achievement for finishing this game in Campaign mode will be mine. Pocketnova Well-Known Member Oct 15, 2012 2,346 0 0 #19 Pocketnova, Apr 14, 2013 Just finished the first world, and wow! This is one polished game. Really good. Highly recommended. It does actually require strategy, as nightc1 said. grits Well-Known Member May 28, 2012 622 0 0 #20 grits, Apr 14, 2013 Cool glad to see some action here (You must log in or sign up to post here.)
