It's different. This is all about survival from continuous onslaught of attacking zombies. You have finite health (obviously, though if you die you can get restored by a team-mate), ammo and differing weapons depending on your purchasing power (brought about by killing and repairing barriers). You run out of ammo, you need go find the resupply point (which may be blocked by zombies) and buy some more. Various powerups are also available.

I have Sandstorm and just got this because of the online play (waiting on Sandstorm's, which I saw an announcement about today, though no real details).

I just got modern combat and I find the controls spot on like eliminate, I actually feel more in control than any PSP Shooters because I hate the face buttons! Just because you suck at iPhone FPS doesn't mean it's 'gimped', some people ( you included ) just suck at trying out new control scheme while the rest of us seems to adapt just fine.

I was playing online, and I got the super weapon thing. It did basically no damage, is this a glitch? And the small control sticks still suck.

I just wanna know if it's a good game or not.

I have no problem with fps controls in sandstorm, doom, or wolfenstein. The controls in Duke I find similar, but some parts of some levels require greater control than I am able to muster without some frustration.

Will I get ong with COD Zombies?

This game is nails. I already prefer it to Eliminate. Between this and MC:S multiplayer, I think we're really on to something here. I think that honestly, the price is fine because we have to start paying for premium games. I really never thought we'd get the CoD franchise here because of the $.99 clamoring that is so fervent. I think this is a perfect opening salvo for the franchise. Start with zombies (and the multiplayer is key), then realize that there are some people willing to pay more than a buck for a quality game, then hopefully move to a more complete CoD experience, because it's certainly possible. Very much worth it in my mind, and I don't need to worry about buying energy packs. I imagine a LOT of Eliminate fans have paid more than 10 bucks on that game even though it's "free". I haven't, but I have no problem paying 10 bucks for a quality game that's good to go now.

Guys let's not let a 'nobody ' like Mellowfellow get in your nerves with his opinion about iPhone fps when John Carmack, one of the founding fathers of the genre, believes in the platform! Also to quote him in the toucharcade podcast ' I don't carry my psp or ds anywhere but I always have my iPhone with me' !

All very good, valid points Sizz. I'm going to take the plunge and support top-tier games. Hopefully they'll add some more maps without charging an arm and a leg. I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars per map after the initial cost of the game, if they don't start skimping on quality.

It's British English because it is English, which is one of the language, spoken in Britain/UK - meaning, Britain's English or English in Britain; doesn't have to be the only language.

And seeing as Scotland and Wales probably learn English from the English, they probably speak British English, so really, it is that.

The difference that makes no difference is no difference.

Now I apologize for inadvertently insulting your seemingly Scottish- or Welsh-sympathetic sensibilities (not calling you Scottish or Welsh either, just saying you're [country]-sympathetic), but may we tone it done? I'm pretty sure South Americans won't go screaming "we don't speak English!" when people refer to US English as American English (They do go "USA citizens aren't the only Americans" though, which is valid).

Anyways, more on topic, I wouldn't say the game's worth 9.99 with a single map. I agree with someone else who said that it would depend on the DLC. If a map pack cost possibly 0.99 (say 3 - 5 more maps), then fine. Otherwise they'd be asking for more than EA games.

Modern Combat would have been fine if it didn't keep adjusting your view for you, making you look up in the air for no readily apparent reason.

Not brilliant. But suffice for requirements. It's not that you can go anywhere and have a nice look around. You're stuck in a house shooting hordes of zombies. ;) But shoot a head and there is a satisfying splat of blood.

While I naturally agree with you, this game seems like the kind of game I don't like, the survive till you lose kind of game and to me that sounds too much like a mini-game. I'll wait till they add all the maps and everything that's supposed to come with the game. Only then, will I buy the full game. I don't mind paying for a premium game at all but it needs to have more substance than it does now.

    England
Firstly, Britain and the UK are completely different, look it up. But the main point is, there is nothing special about the English spoken in the UK, it doesn't need to be classified. It should be called English and American English should be called just that. Because it is American English that is a variation, but by saying British English it also makes our way of speaking English a variation, which it isn't. Anyway, you're right, it doesn't really matter, so let's leave it at that.

Da Shizuoka wiz or whatever it is, don't call people whiny 12 year olds seeing as if I had to guess I'd day that's what you are, and to whoever answered my Q about the graphics, thanks, I would get the game this second but I just got asphalt 5 and the settlers so I really don't want to get this when I've barely even played this.
Damn iPhone devs releasing loads of really great games that I want, what bastards!

This is Activision we're talking about here. Bobby is in it for the money so don't expect a $0.99 map pack with 3~5 maps. More like $9.99 for two maps; which will just be more console map ports anyway. Too bad ATVI couldn't put a little more effort into the core title by adding in say... a new map that wasn't in the console releases.

Now you start to sound like someone who loses touch with reality and still wouldn't let go of an illusion. (People going "no, he's right there, how come you can't see him?! Are you blind?" when the crowd obviously don't see jack)

YOU may always have frustrations with the controls, obviously A LOT of people are satisfied.

Now why are you trying so hard to convince people not to have fun, when they obviously do?
