I just noticed in the UK app store, this is now the no.4 top paid app and no.1 top grossing. It hasn't even been featured by Apple yet either. And its got a 4 1/2 star average score - 126 out of 177 are 5 star. I also just noticed that it no longing says published by Vivendi - it now says Activision Publishing Inc. Same goes for Crash Bandicoot too. I know Activision and Vivendi merged a while back, guess they only just got round to updating the name on iTunes.
This definitely has the potential to be a top grosser for a long time to come. Although Apple hasn't featured it yet (I'm sure they will) the CoD name alone was enough to get some early buyers (myself included). Now, if the game had sucked, it would have still sold, but not in the numbers it is now. The combination of the name recognition plus the positive press/word of mouth due to the fact that it is awesome, add up to a cash cow for Activision. If they price the DLC at reasonable rates, they could sell a bunch of maps as well. They did this one right, and set a high standard for their games to come.
Yeah, I'm sad to say I would actually drop another $10 bucks a map for more...I'm just soooo overly impressed by this game its ridiculous. The lighting, sound, and framerate (below level 12) are outstanding. I mean, I really didn't think my ipod could do that.
I love this game 5/5 stars -- my only complaint is that I always end up the last person in the game in online quickplay. By level 5 usually one or two people have left the game or d/c and by level 10 everyone's usually gone, even if we're doing really good
Yeah thats true, except not all the press has been that positive. Most has, but notably IGN game it a 7/10 in its review. Granted the only real reason he scores it like that is because he believes $10 for 1 map is a rip-off. Here's what he said and the full review is here.
$9.99 Insulting? The review is insulting. This is easily the best online experience I've had on the iphone. One level, but with immense replay value, and a very high level of quality. 4 player co-op on a console port that runs almost flawlessly is worth $9.99. How I wish other companies would release games with high quality/replay value, rather than long, boring, low quality single player modes, which aren't even worth playing through once. Or longish, boring, lifeless games with no replay value (dungeon hunter=7.9 ffs). izombieland scored 7.4, and costs $3.99. Compare that game to COD zombies. Basically a flash game compared to an online co-op console game.
If you host privately theres usually never a dc prob... I made it to round 20 yesterday and noone left... also you could go to the tinychat cod room.
Agreed. The way I see it, I paid $9.99 to have any-time, permanent access to nearly lag free coop gameplay. Those servers need to be paid for; I'm glad that it was a one-time-only charge. Having additional maps would be the cherry on top of a very delicious cake.
I was in that Game xP! It was SO Awesome! This is the Chat Room for COD: http://tinychat.com/codzombies Huh, seems like I can't enter the Chat
