Exactly my point, you get what you paid for: a radical departure from Call of Duty's regular gameplay. People complained, and Activision indulged them. Now people are complaining that it's not like CoD. We already have mobile CoD, and Gameloft nailed it. Now Activision is appealing to a new niche.
Actually I'm pretty sure his right. Every other game I have pauses when a text or a call comes in. You're also more or less right in what you say but there is internal management software side on iOS to counter this kind of thing. It just doesn't seem to be working correctly on this one so it is a bug somewhere in there thats not interacting as it should be. Not a major one just a minor inconvenience that is probably on bug fix list by now. On the game itself, there really is nothing for people to be disappointed in. It really is quite good. And well worth the price. I still love the Modern Combat series but this is a nice new twist on that kind of game and they are not really the exact same thing. Certainly similar but not quite. Modern Combat does what it does extremely well. This does something a bit differently but also does it extremely well. If you like one, I don't see why you wouldn't like the other. They are different enough to compliment each other even and offer different styles of play that every shooter fan will (probably/should) appreciate.
This may be a bold question, but here goes; HOW DOES THIS COMPARE TO MODERN COMBAT please? Or even Deus Ex? Apologies for the Caps; just really hoping for a response please. Thoughts please? Thanks in advance 'Team!'
Hmm, it has elements from both games (though it's more akin to MC than to Deus Ex). The game can be played using stealth, which is awesome. (I.e. disabling alarms and taking down enemies with snipers, hiding bodies in closets, etc) It can also be played going in guns a blazin', which was something that would have been hard in Deus Ex: The fall. I'm enjoying the game, though it gets somewhat harder in the later missions (duh) and you have to think about your actions.
Somewhere in between those two would be best way to describe it (from my perspective anyway). All three are extremely good games. Deus Ex is very tactical whereas MC is very in and gun. This is somewhat run and gun but in a very tactical way. I'm not sure if I'm very clear on that one as this is more tactical than run and gun but not nearly as tactical as Deus ex. Somewhere in between best describes it. If you like either of the other two, or both, I think you'll certainly enjoy this. And it is worth it. Edit. Ah, pocketnova got there first. I agree with what he is saying by the way.
Game Impressions Second Mission into... Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel The Truth will out Things were really working as planned (by Activision) till around 10:20 and then all hell broke loose: Same as Total War™: Rome II currently on PC Call of Duty: Strike Team does struggle like badly because of some A.I Issues in the Game which often end every time in babysitting my Team to make sure they don`t get killed even when I have ordered them to freaking shot everything down that still does move if they count to three and doesn`t have a bullet in their head by that Moment. I tag Enemy Soldier and they run, go or Moonwalk in front of my Soldiers and they don`t give a damn shit about it. No, I have to tap on them and while that tap on an enemy Soldier and then they might shot him down but if I`m not babysitting them they won`t give a shit about any Soldlier in their Spotlight. This wouldn`t be such a Problem if I would see the same behavior with the Soldier that are controlled by the A.I but those do exactly what you would supposed them to do in such a moment. They run around on their Paths, try to get some Cover and if you are out of their line of sight they will freaking move their ass to change their Position till they finally see you. That, by any means isn`t working yet perfectly but, at least they are trying to kill you really while my dumb Team is standing their and probably smoking some Joint while getting their Body pumbed full with Bullets. Conclusion: I really like the Game so far since I`m getting an Call of Duty/Rainbow Six (Classic) Vibe but...I don`t know if I will manage to finish the Game in it`s current Form simple because I might run out of patience because I don`t want to babysit my hole freaking Team 24/7 since I want them just to do what I order them to do like in XCom: Enemy Unknown or Rainbow Six or Breach & Clear and not pray each time I give them an order and hope that they will follow my lead.
On the other hand, XCOM and B&C are turn-based games. Rainbow Six lacks that leeway, but it's a big difference. There's a LOT going on at once. I'm certainly faulting it for shoddy AI, but it's forgivable to an extent. I certainly hope to see Activision improve upon the core game in future updates.
Just out of curiosity, how to your guys iPhones handle this game? As in how long is it roughly of game time until your phone really starts to heat up? After the first mission my iPhone 5 was a lot hotter than other games I've played on my device.
The Game has really much to offer and at no point I regret buying it. I mean I love it so far but the AI in Call of Duty: Strike Team definitly will make me not vote for it`s Singleplayer Mode with an straight 5/5. More like an 3/5 which might turn down my End Voting between 3/5 -> 4/5 depending if the Game will get an bigger Multiplayer Update or not. To sum it up: So far I have played the first three Mission and if someone has an unbiased mind about the hole Call of Duty Franchise and would like to play an Light Version of XCom: Enemy Unkown or Rainbow Six Games and don`t care that much that the Multiplayer Mode isn`t yet added I`m sure he will enjoy it as much as I do even the AI is more then once an freaking Pain in the Ass I really hope that Activision will actually be able to patch the AI and add over time more Content (Single- & Multiplayer Content!) to it since so far I really like what I have seen even with the current AI Holes.
Half-Time: Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel If I didn`t count it wrong it seems that the Arctic Campaign contains six Mission so far and I`m slowly getting used to the Mix between Over the Top - Control and using now and then the First-Person-View. Mission went smooth with the AI only screwing up once. I guess the Game does kinda work the best if you use always one of your Soldier and make sure that in the meantime your other Soldier aren`t standing where they could get harmed. That does work pretty well as long as the Enemy doesn`t pop up right behind you Edit: So far my guess would be that the Game has overall 18. Mission (Three different Campaign) + Survival Mode.
Thanks as always, Sanuku. Your video playthroughs are great, and I love your no-nonsense, funny written impressions.
This game it's sooo dynamic and if i have to be honest i'm enjoying it more than x-com, from my side the absence of multiplayer mode doesn't ruin the experience, the real time option to switch between drone and FPS view gives to the player so many combinations of action to push me to replay and enjoy every single stage, this is the best tactical action i ever played on my ipad, worth every single penny, what a great surprise after a flat August!
Wow, looks good! Would you guys say it is more 3rd person, 1st person, 50/50, or possible to do it almost exclusively either way?
I think te biggest problem with top down view is that you can rarely ever hit enemies. It might just be me though.
Impressions after the tutoria, -great gameplay and mix between strategy and fps. -game goes fluently other than firefights in the top down view are kinda sloppy, the stealth works great in that though -there's seems to be lots of content and some daily challenges I would definetely recommend, runs great
You certainly can, but it's recommended you play a blend of the two. I use the overhead mode for more complex maneuvers, like having one guy hide a body while another hacks, or kill one guard and swap to another guy to back him up.
I just played the second "part" of mission four ALL stealth. It was an amazing expeiracne, and on of the most intense things I've done on any iOS game. Killing enamies, hiding bodies, disabling alarms, hacking turrets. It's all there. This could really be a GOTY. It felt sooooooo good, I was replaying in my head for like ten minutes after I beat it. This is my GOTW for sure.
AI's pretty bad. If it's improved, this is an extremely solid entry in the series, worthy of the name it carries on its shoulders.
