Hey all - a couple of years back, I made a post on these forums looking for a particular type of game for iOS. That post is here: http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=74428

I didn't get any replies to that, and never did find what I was looking for. So I built it. And we can use your help. We're in that weird phase between "we have a cool game idea" and "we have a good/mature game". It needs work, and part of that is the need for people in it playing it.

It is completely free to play. We are funding the development, hosting, everything out of our pockets.

This game is not an app...it is played in the browser. In the future, we will build an app for it that plays a sub-game within the overall world that we play in in the browser, and the two will interact (players from each version of the game will interact with each other, play in the same towns, etc). Both the browser and app versions of the game will ultimately use GPS functionality.

Rumors of War in its current state is an MMO strategy warfare/social game, persistent world, full PvP played on Googlemaps APIs so that the whole world is the game board. It's set in a fantasy feudal setting, with vassalage chains, in game player walls for messaging (more communications systems coming). We've got city building, army warfare, seiging (coming this week), and basic skills on most hirelings.

Hirelings are classic fantasy classes that live in the buildings you build in your towns, and can be sent to do things for/against other players such as assassinating other player's hirelings, commanding armies, praising and denouncing other players, etc. Classes currently are Priest, Commander, Assassin, Spymaster, Merchant, Regent, Brigand...in the future we'll have Thieves, Necromancers, and multi-classed hirelings.

We have focused on making sure that new players don't get crushed out the gate by established players (big focus for us) as well as making the game world feel more "alive" by giving nuggets of information about what their neighbors are up to to the players, with the ability to improve that intelligence collection through Spymasters and having your hirelings visit other player's towns. This is our Rumors system.

This is a political game, akin to the politics of Shadowbane.

WE ARE IN DEVELOPMENT. Don't expect beautiful graphics, don't expect all systems online yet (we're adding major systems on a weekly-ish basis) and do expect bugs. We need testers in the game and playing to find the bugs and give us feedback on what you'd want to see to make it the perfect game. We have a very small set of testers, we have just gone outside of the circle of irl friends in the past month.

All that said, enough of the game is present that the real PvP politics are already starting to show. With 10 players, there are Feudal chains in place, and already a fair amount of backstabbing going on.

Because we have a small set of testers just yet, we are concentrating testing in the area NORTHWEST OF PHILADELPHIA. If you want to give this a shot, and you start your kingdom way out in BFE away from the other testers, there will be no one to interact with, you will get bored very quickly, and you'll leave. Don't do that =) After testing and when we have a lot more players, we'll open it up to areas outside of the Philadelphia to Harrisburg corridor.

For game info, screenshots and updates, "Like" us on Facebook, we can be found searching "Datastorm Studios".

There are links in game to the forum for bug reports, suggestions, enhancement requests, etc.

    Thanks!
