    Uh, why that?

Btw... to criminalize things like pot is like putting a big yellow button with the word "INTERESTING!" on it.

My buddy's (in his late 20s) from Munich Germany and he says it's legal. He's lived there 10 years or something. His old man says the same.

At my work, I deal with pot heads all the time who come in. I have to say they are even stupider than they usually are. I'm not a big fan of people smoking pot and driving or operating things. At least from what i have seen, people get stupid and lazy.

People who are already stupid and lazy decide they should start smoking weed, it's not the weed that made them that way. You can be stoned off your face and still know you need an early night because you've got work the next day.

When it's legal I'll perform an experiment, purely for scientifical reasons ;)

I live in the UK, so I don't know if standings are completely different over in the US, and if drugs are common place or what.

But from what I read (and I am no expert on this) you want to legalise Weed to get pot heads out of overcrowded prisons for space for more violent crimes. Could this escalate. This sort of thinking could lead to rapists being set free to save space for mass murderers and psychopaths being left in prison. Even though you may deny this, this is sort of the extreme version of what you are trying to do.

Also, your point on Alcohol, and how it is several times worse than Weed. I completely agree, Alcohol is dangerous and a drug and legal. But this doesn't mean everything below it deserves to be legal as well. We already have one organ destroying drug out there, we don't need another. We all know that trying to make alcohol illegal right now is near impossible anyway.

    See what I mean.

I realize you effectively back-pedalled in your following sentence but you still said this for a reason. It is really irresponsible to attempt such a Sarah Palinesque scare tactic. That is not on the table. That is poorly written fiction.

Dude... Alchohol destroys many organs. And leads to many health defects and worst of all, dependancy.

Where as bud just harms your lungs, and not even in the way cigarettes do. Sure inhaling smoke is bad for you, but there is far worse. It harms nothing else and is not addictive.

The only organ on my body that's fallen victim to weed hasn't had any lasting issues... except it curves more to the right than the left now

I'd actually consider my right hand more of an organ destroyer than pot....

Eat it or get a vaporizer. It doesn't have to have any detrimental health effects. The THC molecule has been synthesized twice by US pharmaceutical firms so it must be doing something right.

Indeed, might I suggest the Volcano vaporizer if you can afford one... I cannot but everyone seems to rave about them.

Yep, they really are the bees knees, but cost a fair bit. If you ever visit Holland (and you really should =P) quite a few coffee shops have volcanos that you can use.

Yes, because decriminalizing a drug that has never had a proven death from despite 2 well known killers being sold across the counter (alcohol + tobacco)
is exactly the same thing as letting rapists go. Not to mention the fact that the state would benefit financially to a great degree by the taxes coming in and through the productive ways in which hemp can be used (note sarcasm).

Though realistically this law will not be passed, not because of the health implications of marijuana, but because of the possible public outrage, by uniformed people such as you, that would quite likely end up with the current government being kicked out of power. This means that most governments are too scared to take the step and legalize it, despite the many positive implications of it. And the fact that the majority of people in power are 50 something squares who hate the idea of fun doesnt help either.

Hey I am just a guy here playing the debater, justifying why you think these things. My mind isn't set in stone and I am interested to see your way of thinking. To be honest I know nothing about the subject, and I am just repeating those dumb morals that were taught in school such as 'Don't take drugs'.

So how does the taxing work? Does everyone get taxed, or only the ones that use the decriminalised weed?

@starjimstar, but isn't this what you are doing? You are setting free people who have committed a crime (admittedly a low crime) just to save up space for people who have done worse crimes.Though my justification was a little extreme. But I guess your saying that weed is harmless so shouldn't be a criminal offence?

    Thanks for the continued discussion.
