I think it is a bug. I believe the dev intended to allow only 3 MAX of any card (so minimum of 10 different cards x 3 = 30 card deck). I know what you mean though. My 1 turn win deck has 7 "call in backup" or whatever.
If I remember correctly you are supposed to be only able to put 3 cards in a deck which would mean you never need more than 3 and that's where the bonus points were supposed to come in. When you'd get the card you've maxed you get points instead. I think the game is supposed to only allow you to have 3 cards and that's where the developer placed the 3 limit rather than an actual 3 card limit when you're building your deck. But this is all based on me remembering it saying there was a 3 card limit somewhere... So if that's wrong then this is all wrong.
probably the same somewhere i read it. the game's website: "You can collect and use up to three copies of every card."
Also as someone grinding for cards post-game I have to say I wish there was a way to increase the odds of getting cards you don't already have 3 of like as you complete achievements the odds go up or something. The bonus XP does nothing for me considering I've reached the level cap and I'm sure the more than 3 bug will be fixed soon.
Great tips here, thks guys. I just read all the thread and learned so much that I didn't notice while playing for a few hours. I created a short deck (30/40 cards) whereas before I had almost all my cards in it. A few tries later and now it works way better. Did also manage my numbers deck to add higher cards. I finally understood the importance of push units lol And i didn't even think of multiplying by 1 or substract same numbers before d'oh! So now I always get the first bonus using all cards. Managed to get to the last dude, he seems tough
This is currently the game I play the most, but it's not without some pretty glaring missing features. 1. No widescreen support?! What year is this?... 2. No cloud save (went ahead and deleted it on all but one device. Thanks.) 3. No multiplayer... In a card-based one-on-one battle game. Yikes. I'm a big fan of Seanbaby, but this game ain't done.
might i suggest using the internet to seek the knowledge you desire. save games is coming, multiplayer is coming, but i have no idea what widescreen support is. no problems on my 'widescreen' ipad.
1. Is probably a side effect of them using Unity and targeting Android unfortunately. The play area is a fixed ratio, and the rest is filled in with a static background texture that you see on the iPhone. I agree it's annoying, but there are more pressing issues. 2. I'm in the same boat. Went iPhone only. I hope it'll come some day, but we'll see. 3. They have stated multiplayer is coming after Android support. So it may be a while, but it's coming. Also if you check the twitter feed, they are working on a patch for this week that will address some of the most pressing issues/bugs (unresponsive input taps, getting surplus copies of cards that shouldn't be there).
Yep, copy on the research. That's why I didn't list gameplay bugs. This is STILL my go-to game right now. Just getting my laundry list out there, for what it's worth.
Still playing this game more than anything else. What I like most about it is how little each game pivots on luck; the better you are, the more you'll win, and win decisively. The first time I played the second boss I got pantsed and sent home with a big "kick me" sign on my back. Once I had a better handle on things (about 5 matches later), I was able to beat her on the second turn. The programming issues I previously mentioned still stand, but there's no denying the quality of the game design.
I'm also playing Calculords a lot I'm beating the last bot 3/4 of the time now. It would be interesting to have some decks described here. Some of the later cards are very powerful vs their cost but have odd numbers (that require at least 3 numbers, like 37) I have trouble keeping my deck below 40 cards now that I have a huge choice of cards. And have to adapt your numbers deck to your cards deck too. I tend to keep mostly high value powerful cards and increase the average of my numbers deck.
I feel the same re: numbers deck and powerful cards. Tightly focused decks seem to have limited usefulness unless you REALLY know your opponent, and are having trouble winning. That's fine, though, as that's probably intentional. I have also found that having more numbers is almost always better because it's usually not that hard to get those unused numbers to a 1 or a 0. The latter is especially useful as once you get there, you can simply multiply it by anything to quickly get that calculord bonus (which you obviously know, but others may not).
nobody representing the game has ever posted here, right? too bad. as far as i can gather a patch is being submitted this week. anybody hear anything else?
I am the opposite. It would be great when they have multiplayer to see which is actually better in real world. I built 1 deck for each type and focused on the #'s and cards used (all @30 cards and using 3 max of each one). For my vehicle deck, I added only 10's. For my soldier deck, I added 8's and a few 6's. For my mutate, I added 5's and a few 12's. All I heard also..from the source... https://twitter.com/Calculords
that might be a little confusing to new players as you say getting things to 0 (the latter) and then multiplying it by anything gets you the bonus. well, not so. 6 x 0 is 0 so you still have that 0 in your calculator and don't get the bonus. 0 needs to be added to a number for it to disappear.
You're right; I wasn't clear. Get to zero, then multiply all your numbers you know you can't use by that zero, then add the zero to the first number of your final calculation to get the bonus. In short, get rid of the extra numbers before you make your last calculation.
Update is out. Basically polishes up the game and we get a shiny new icon. No MP yet, but I think I remember reading that's coming after the android release. Adds Combat Save Improved tap response No more swapped stats in deck editor Slight balance adjustments Several crash fixes Myriad of other small bug fixes
