Perfectly worded response, Mika. Much appreciated. As you know, I did eventually receive the influence and made my first deck, played six or seven games and am enjoying Cabals very much (why are every single one of my opponents playing Morgana?!). I intend to be buying influence soon. I think I see where the game is headed next and I want to be there.
This is a deliberate way to make the single player games more varied, challenging, and interesting. You won't play on these boards on the ranked matches although hopefully when unranked multi-player matches are implemented we will be able to choose these to play on them as they're a lot of fun.
Thanks for clearing this up. On the other hand, the Plantation and Mountain Pass boards are fun to play on. Time to look at re-organising my deck.
For those who play with accumulating domination points. When specifically the domination points are generated? Are the stars icon with +2 generate 2 domination points? Is there an advantage of dominating normal locations that generate nothing?
Domination points from locations (1 per Stonghold, Resourse or Deployment tile) are generated at the beginning of a player's turn. You also can generate domination points in your turn though specific activated abilities some cards have. Currently I don't think there is any advantage to owning normal tiles but the wording on cards like The Magic Pigs of Cruachu suggest that there may be in the future.
There is a card (name escapes me), when it conquerors a tile, it automatically generates an extra power for itself, think of it a rolling snowball. Very nasty.
It depends on the map as well. He's amazing in the larger maps, but not so much in the smaller ones. I tend to use Striga for the latter. I haven't tried either in multiplayer, however.
I was just looking at the official website and noticed that Kyy has been running a series of previews of different cabals. I think these might give decent pointers to those new to the game, and those looking for basic tips on how to play the different cabals. Here are the links: Bearclaw Brotherhood Order of Zahir Vril Society Danann Covenant is yet to be done, apparently.

Finally had the chance to play Cabals a little more than just past the first few screens, and this really is a good game. And a damn polished app. I canna wait for async, and alternate ways to progress and gain influence. Actually, I want them all
I'm finally starting to come around on this game. And most of that has to do with their founder saying all the right things. I gave them $10, which has always been my investment cap on games with lots of potential. Kingdom conquest, shadow era, tactical warrior and battle for wesnoth are the only other games I've considered and done so with. Their main forum is starting to gain traffic. I look forward to seeing it get crowded. Kyy -- are you free to talk about how big your team is over there? One of my big frustrations with shadow era was that they didn't hire more than one developer or artist for what seemed like ages. It kept progress on the slow train from Philly.
Hi, We have mad feith in what we're creating here. It's already something unique and people sense it, and they're contributing in building a great place for us all. On behalf of Kyy Games I can say: we're prepared for a marathon. I'll quote myself from Cabals forums: Download links: iTunes Windows - Standalone Mac - Standalone Browser Android Like@ Facebook
We just created an irc channel, feel free to join and discuss about stuff. There's a handful of people at the moment, but join and stay, it will grow. I'm there as well. -Mika Download links: iTunes Windows - Standalone Mac - Standalone Browser Android Like@ Facebook
really like what i played so faar! art is great, idea is good, gameplay feels very fresh (since it combines classic card battles with a board) would be great if one would be able to sell (or trade with others?) cards he does not need, because i think the current prices of cards are a bit overpriced.. but more time will tell.. need to play some more..
Nice! I just joined, and there is already some good discussion going on. What are your most dominating decks like so far? I've been playing with a board-freezing Bearclaw that goes mostly for a domination victory, and getting some great results with it.
from what I understand, red, green, and blue are all fairly competitive at the upper-tier. There will always be a "favorite" deck. Currently, it seems to be red. However, I believe that the developers have every intention of keeping up with game balance and adjusting accordingly. Therefore, unless you plan to buy a bunch of card to be able to play anything at any given time, I suggest you play what cabal suits you. Each cabal is likely to have its day.
Time for statistics! People have been asking about statistics and popularity of cards and decks: So far the most popular individual cards in our card store have been: 1. Initiate of Wodan (Vril Society) 2. Bear Spirit (Bearclaw Brotherhood) 3. Valburg's Night (Danann Covenant) 4. Banshee (Danann Covenant) 5. Fomhorian Brute (Danann Covenant), Bog Candle (Bearclaw Brotherhood), Golem (Order of Zahir) Most popular factions chosen at start: 1. 30,90% Vril Society 2. 29,63% Danann Convenant 3. 24,77% Bearclaw Bearclaw Brotherhood 4. 14,70% Order of Zahir The winning% on the other hand: 1. 53,31% Vril Society 2. 49,33% Danann Covenant 3. 47,37% Bearclaw Brotherhood 4. 46,08% Order of Zahir It seems that Zahir could use a slight buff to gain more popularity and footing. It has suffered the most from the nerf since beta, where it was the most powerful deck. Anyone else rooting for Zahir? I know I am. -Mika Download links: iTunes Windows - Standalone Mac - Standalone Browser Android Like@ Facebook
