Sooo yeah, the title pretty much says it all. I'm going to buy a laptop pretty soon, the only problem... I have no clue which to get. So I'm wondering what you guys would suggest that I get. My top price is around $1,000; though I would prefer a cheaper one. Also I do not really want a mac, as they do not have as much functionality and flexibility. Sooo what would you suggest I get and why?

Best just looking at the specs and stuff in store, I usually just buy Samsung machines as I trust them but if you aren't to fussy on manufacturer you can probably get a high power machine pretty cheap.

yea pretty much the same here. maybe a bit of video stuff too. but if u're plannin on gaming, make sure ur graphics card and processor are up to the task yo. but then again, idk much about computers. my friend knows a ton though.
friend mentioned above has a alienware. the specs seem to be similar to anything that u can get for a lower price but according to him, the cooling system, build quality, etc.are all top notch and there's a ton of lights. if u have a lot of money to drop, then im pretty sure alienware is an awesome choice but imo if u have a budget....

Only if you have the dough to burn, like the user above has mentioned; it comes with everything you need inside, but you can buy a computer just like that half the price of the Alienware. Without all the lights and expensive cooling technology, and things of that nature. I would suggest browsing through www.newegg.com if you're looking for a low-budget laptop, with great specs, or any other website that has the similiar hardware of a Alienware laptop.

Alienware is probably overpriced for the spec but they are quite good nicely powered gaming machines and fairly flashy, design wise good for showing off. I've considered buying one myself a few times as I like the idea of a gaming notebook.

As a negative point the hardware itself isn't what it once was since Dell bought them there has been issues with hinges on some of their models and other silly little issues so I'd advise checking up on the model that interests you before you buy.

This looks like a solid computer to use, but I've also noticed the dv6t model. It's slighty more expensive and uses intel processor. I've tried some research but couldn't find too much difference between the two, do you guys know the pros and cons of both?

In that case, why are you saving for the quad core? Is it because of price?

Yeah basically... and the beats audio haha... I mean amd is ok... but i just like intel much better. Actually my current computer has amd dual core.

BACK ON TOPIC: if you are going to get an alienware just realize the lowest priced one does not have a disk drive ;)

Thanks for all the helppful replies, yeah I've looked into getting an alienware before, but there a little to pricey for me. I might get the HP Pavilion dv6z laptop as was suggested. It sounds like a pretty good deal
Edit: But I have also been lookin at the Mx11 alienware laptop, which would cost me around 800. hmmmmm
