I did in fact land exclusive interviews with the CEO of Rovio and Angry Birds' lead designer (that's Mikael Hed and Jaakko Iisalo, respectively). That game has a pretty interesting/odd origin story
Here's an excerpt from the book: http://i.joystiq.com/2011/11/17/excerpt-behind-the-app-book-buttonless-explores-broken-sword/
"I KILL WITH THIS PIECE" (holding up tiny copy of "Buttonless" I got printed special, at half normal size) -- Kepa
The 18-year old story of Babylonian Twins is in this book too. Looking forward to read the other stories
the harrowing tale of the coming together of superbrothers, capy and musician Jim Guthrie to create Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP can be found in this book as well. Ok it's not that harrowing. But check out the book anyway!
+1! I highly recommend checking this book out. It's always great to hear the stories behind the games we all love!
I was actually going to pass on this (sorry Ryan), but only due to being completely broke. After seeing so much dev support however, I think a better idea would be to add it to my Christmas list
And our game Blobster by Chillingo (featured #3 on US app store in July) is in this book too! From what I've read there are some really amazing stories in it! A must-read for developers. /Marita
There's a section on Big Pixel and Land-a Panda in the book as well. Definitely worth checking out if you are at all interested in iOS games.
Sounds like a great book! Thanks, had no idea that this was coming. Have to ask, will there be a Kindle or iBook version?
I asked a few weeks back and he said it wasn't currently planned, something to do with image formatting I think.
The more devs coming here and telling they're in it, the more I want to buy it!! And awesome to hear you interviewed Rovio!
