Developer Here! Hello! We're the developers of Burglars, Inc and are here to chat about the game, answer questions, and listen to your feedback and suggestions! Burglars, Inc. is a unique puzzle game, both in its actual puzzle mechanics (we aren't aware of any games with similar gameplay) and in its theme. There's a lot more story in the game than your typical iOS puzzler - we were inspired by old Nintendo DS games like Phoenix Wright and Professor Layton in that regard - but if that's not your thing you can turn off the dialog and get straight to the action. We hope some of you will check it out. It's free to try - you get the first 4 episodes (about 2 hours of gameplay) for free and then, if you like it, it's $2.99 to unlock the full 16 episodes. There is no other IAP in the game (we're never trying to make you fail just to have you buy a special item to progress). If you're interested, we blogged about some of the development here. Let us know what you think! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 954 208 43 #3 Stronsay, Feb 3, 2017 Good one. Looked really simple till I got to the end of the tutorial, by which time loads of things had been added! The core puzzle element is straightforward enough but all the other facets provide much to consider during each level; especially with the random changes to the layout. Timed levels don't always work but here it fits in well with the burglary concept. Keeps my brain on it's toes. The dialogues are good too; striking the right pitch of humour for me. Ambient backgrounds and map, cool jazz, fair premium model; this game seems to be doing everything right. Also, I've now learned what a fuzzy orbit is. Interesting. fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #4 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 3, 2017 Hi Stronsay! Thanks for trying our game! We appreciate the feedback. Yeah, timed levels are tricky, and we put a lot of effort into hitting the right balance. I doubt we got it perfect, but we're happy to hear you like it so far. The game will continue to change things up, so let us know what you think as you progress. Thanks again! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 954 208 43 #5 Stronsay, Feb 3, 2017 I've unlocked Locke now and the switch from timers to break limits is a welcome change of pace. Much easier to get better chains when there is time to plan ahead. Then I got the multiple rotating orange blocks which increase the difficulty again! I bought some tools but have not used any due to being so engrossed in the puzzles I keep forgetting about them. fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #6 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 4, 2017 Thanks for continuing to play and sharing your experience, Stronsay! If you do try some of the tools, let us know what you think. A lot of our testers had different preferences, so we're always interested to see which ones players find useful. Thanks again, and hope you're having fun! Qwertz555 Well-Known Member May 22, 2010 2,318 29 48 #7 Qwertz555, Feb 4, 2017 The little mission points on the map (to hit it with my finger, and no zooming) and the playfield colors (tubes) give my old eyes a bit of trouble. And altough i'm not a fan of timed puzzles, here it fits the story and the gameplay perfectly. Lol, i'm a burglar. So i play ten minutes here and there to recharge my tiring eyes inbetween. Maybe the playfield gets bigger/more tiles later on (i'm on level 7), but if not, maybe make the red dots a bit smaller in favor of some bigger tiles, please? But it's intriguing enough with the funny story, the top jazzy music and overall great presentation to have hit the $3-dollar-button just a minute ago. Congrats! PS: i also forget about the tools. Maybe later on they will be very necessary. I'll see... fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #8 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 4, 2017 Thanks for your support and the great feedback, Qwertz555! Can we ask what device you're playing on? We'll look into making the map pins and puzzle pieces easier to see, but it might be a device specific solution as we're guessing the sizes aren't as big an issue on larger screens (like an iPad). Tools can be handy on trickier missions, but it sounds like you probably don't need their help just yet. Thanks again for trying Burglars, Inc. and sharing your thoughts! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 954 208 43 #9 Stronsay, Feb 5, 2017 Seem to have hit a slight bug. Got to the end of the demo, but there wasn't any notification of this. Pressed 'continue' and the app just closed and exited to desktop. I would have expected an invitation to purchase the remaining chapters. I've done that anyway and continued without problem. I've used some tools now. The basic ones are rather limited. The ice spray gives a little more time, but I'm usually too far behind the clock for it to help when I think of using it. The flashlight is more useful to collect the bonuses. I like the super tools better. The superlinker and flashbang are worthwhile, though expensive of course. Have yet to try the duct tape. fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #10 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 5, 2017 Thanks for the bug report! Just to clarify, did the game crash when you hit Continue from the last demo mission's Mission Success screen (where you claim your mission reward for each star you get)? Regarding the tools, of the basic ones, my personal favorite is the Crowbar: get a really big chain ready and then use the Crowbar right before triggering the chain for a huge meter fill. I also love the Wire Cutter for security missions since you can use it to quickly clear out a bunch of the red security borders. By the way, with the Ice Spray, you can use it for Locke's untimed missions, too (it gives you a free trigger push in that case). Thanks for the purchase. We really appreciate it! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 954 208 43 #11 Stronsay, Feb 6, 2017 I think it was a screen after that one. Maybe the map screen. At the time, I completed the last demo mission twice and the same crash happened. I can't duplicate it now, though, since moving to later chapters. Thanks for the explanation regarding the basic toolset. I must try to make further use of them, especially the crowbar. Great job anyway with Burglars Inc. Every story level seems to require learning something new. I thought the system for cracking the combination safe was brilliant, with the math computation involved in setting up the chains. Real brain burner that one. fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #12 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 6, 2017 OK, thanks for the info, Stronsay! Glad you're able to continue playing despite the bug. We will look into it and do our best to squash it. Happy to hear you liked the combination missions too. They'll pop up from time to time as you progress, and each one is unique. Let us know if you have any other thoughts as you play. We love feedback! fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #13 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 8, 2017 We found the bug you described and Burglars, Inc. was updated today to fix it. Thanks again for reporting it, Stronsay! Also, we made a quick tools tips game guide about the basic tools if you're interested in checking it out. Thanks again - future players will have a better experience because of your help! Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 954 208 43 #14 Stronsay, Feb 8, 2017 Last edited: Feb 8, 2017 Glad you found the bug. I had a look at the tools guide and that is a helpful reminder. Easier than keep clicking on them in game. I'm finding Redemption level 20 bothersome. Keep failing the second part after numerous tries; even with using some tools. Some good multiple chains are needed and of course they take time to find and set up, so a fair bit of luck is needed with the available links. I'll probably complete it eventually. What I find irritating though is that when returning to Level 20, after exiting the game, I have to keep going through Locke's first part of the mission prior to restarting Chase's section. This becomes slightly tedious as Locke's section has a tutorial which has to be tapped through every time. I know that part 2 can be repeated if done immediatley, but not when returning on another day. Aside from that it's all going well. I can take a break with some of the other missions to accumulate some cash. fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #15 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 8, 2017 Thanks for the feedback, Stronsay! We're in the process of doing a balance pass since more people have had a chance to play the game. We'll be sure to look at level 20 specifically and try to come up with something to help alleviate the issues you mentioned. Thanks again, it's really helpful to hear from players, good or bad. If you run into anything else, let us know and we'll do our best to fix it! fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #16 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 13, 2017 Hi Stronsay! There's a new update available now for Burglars, Inc. that should help with this issue. After taking a look, the second stage on mission 20 did feel a bit obstructive as you rightfully pointed out. It was a holdover from a previous iteration of the game before we introduced the new mechanic of warp borders in mission 20. Since the second stage didn't really add anything to the story or game play (and could be irritating), we decided to find it a new home. In the new update, mission 20 is just the single stage tutorial and the second stage has been moved to a more appropriate part of the game. We also made some other fine tuning adjustments, but it's an ongoing process that might take a few tries to get "right" as we get more feedback from players. In theory, you shouldn't notice anything big, but hopefully things feel a bit nicer as you progress. We appreciate all the feedback we can get! Thanks again Stronsay Well-Known Member Aug 6, 2015 954 208 43 #17 Stronsay, Feb 13, 2017 Thanks for taking my comments on board. The update sure helps with level 20 and it's great to be able to continue the story! I don't mind the tough missions so long as they are easily accessible for retries. Anyway, good work on making an interesting and entertaining puzzle game. Will keep you advised of progress. fuzzyorbitgames Member Feb 3, 2017 15 0 0 San Diego #18 fuzzyorbitgames, Feb 13, 2017 Thanks, Stronsay, your feedback certainly helps! We just updated our app with some more fine-tuning adjustments. This was mostly done on the higher tier jobs per some feedback from players. Also, we got some positive feedback from our tools blog being helpful, so we decided to make a Gamer Guide on our website that details all of the tools (including super tools) and the outfits, gear, and gadgets. You can see what each one does, and also where to get it in the game here -> http://burglarsinc.com/gamer-guide/ Happy burgling! sugimulm Well-Known Member Aug 28, 2010 2,456 46 48 The last time zone for iOS game releases :( #20 sugimulm, Feb 23, 2017 $2.99 to unlock 5-16, will there be future IAP for more levels?
