It looks fine on my iPad 3. I am enjoying the game and am appreciative when developers make quality titles free for us to try.

Now you mention it, the App Store screens do look retina... but it definitely wasn't for me. Gonna take a couple of screenshots to check and then send them on to the devs...

Edit: This is what I'm seeing: http://f.cl.ly/items/0g1m3i0C2t2f213A0C32/IMG_0777.PNG

It seems some small parts are high res, a few sections of cutscene and some text... but the rest is all blurred.

yeah, that's exactly how it looks like for me too.

cutscenes are in retina but thats it.

also there seems to be a bug with the those little orange non-coin type currency [1UP?], i've collected a couple but it still shows as 0 and I can't unlock the third bull slot.

    the retina issue

    Hi all,
thanks so much for giving the game a blast!

    Now, the retina issue.
iPad 3 is non-retina as the device came out when we were basically in beta and there was no way we could afford to go back and redo all the art for one device. We put a serious amount of detail into the art and design, so starting again was simply not an option...which leads me to

iPod Touch 4th gen is non-retina because for some reason, Apple put a screen in there with billion pixels, but didn't update the RAM. Bullistic was crashing immediately as the iPod was trying to load our huge textures and shitting itself. Again, we were so far in to development, we couldn't figure out a decent way of keeping the high res graphics on a device with such limited grunt.

We funded this most of game ourselves and therefore needed to make some big decisions over what we could afford to support as best we could, and what we would have to make do with. In a perfect world, every version of the game would look awesome. Should somehow, we start making serious money off the game, we can iron these issues out - but you don't make much when you give the game away for free, and you don't make much when people don't want to pay for games (before we went free, only 2000 units had been downloaded). We'll press on though!

Happy to talk to anyone regarding the dev process and the decisions we made.

    Thanks again!

    Wil

My bad. Just saw the dev announced this was gonna happen a few weeks ago. Didn't realize it was going freemium.

The game is great truthfully I didn't hear about the game till a article about indie games came out couple months ago I thought it was just a get 3 stars game but this is amazing lot of humor(the flashing bull) wish I would have picked it up when it was 2.99. So is this the update or is that tonight and if this isn't the update what changes.

Can't believe this happened..well, I can - but just after we set the game to free, iTunes Connect went into some maintenance and locked me out. Therefore I couldn't release the actual update! I've just pushed the update live. This has will probably confuse the f*k out of the people who grabbed it as soon as it went free. Pretty annoyed right now.
Anyway - Bullistic has now moved to the free-to-play model and we've added a heap of stuff. Really hope you enjoy it!!

    Update notes -

WARNING!! Bullistic Unleashed has changed dramatically! If you are striving to destroy the mall, or are really close, please DO NOT upgrade yet!
If however, you are looking for a whole new way to play – READ ON!

An epic and brutal game just got even more epic and brutal.

Bullistic Unleashed has moved to a free-to-play model, yet this is not another endless runner. We have developed over 120 challenges that will get you hours of gameplay ranging from the simple to really bloody difficult, all set in the massive Bullistic mall levels!

You are an arrogant special agent of destruction, completing challenges, receiving rewards, earning coin and seducing lady cows.

    New features

    * Over 120 challenges – the levels are huge. There is so much you can do. We have set loads of tasks in every level that will test even the veterans of the game.

    * A whole new way to play – all bulls are available from the beginning. You set your lineup then take on the challenge. Coins are awarded for breaking stuff and challenges are rewarded with unlocks, gifts, XP and level unlocks. Violence and vandalism is nurtured and often a requirement.

    * Awesome MAN-UPS! – make life a little easier and even more fun with these powerful additions. They will blow your mind, estrogen, and the levels, away.

    * 10 tutorial levels – many players found the difficulty curve too steep. Pussies. To help we have added the basement. 10 levels, to get your skills up to speed before taking on the mighty levels of the mall.

For all of you who have spent money, unlocked bulls or unlocked levels, don’t worry, you will be well looked after. We are ever grateful for you being an early adopter and your compensation is both generous and justified.

Join the discussion on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/BullisticUnleashed to learn more about the change, and chat with, or vent to us directly. We think you will love the new direction.
    Love,
    your pals at Millipede

Hmm, so I'm assuming this is going to be another one of those situations where if you got the game early and deleted it off your device, you won't get "compensation".

I know all these changes to freemium models help devs recoup costs if their game isn't selling well, but still stings a bit for those "early adopters" who no longer have the game on their device. Juggling apps -- putting games on and off our devices -- is par for the course, at least for me, on the iOS.

That's a really good point. For your case, there is still time - the update isn't in the stores yet, so if you quickly reinstall the game, when the update comes through, you'll get the benefit. :)

Those who were early adopters we'll need to treat on a case by case basis. We certainly don't want anyone paying for anything again. DM me and we'll see what we can work out!

Not everyone can quit their job and follow every damn update released to see how many of our purchases have remained intact and which have devolved into freemium crapburgers.

Yep, you will. There's no time limit on it. The freemuim update is 1.3, so you can have 1.2 sitting there for as long as you like, then update, and get the compensation.
