    It's always finalark.
I think we should see not as impossible to score, but accept that it's a game which has different limits from arcade, saying it's unplayable is too harsh D:
Maybe they could tweak it, but then people would complain it's not the same...

They have a high res release of BP1 and BP2. The BP1 HD was just released on the xbox 360 (region locked to japan) this month. They said that was their last 360 release. BP2/BL was released on X360 much earlier and is region free, so the HD graphics already exist for this game.

I have DDP:R HD and ESPII HD. I think the reason that they didn't do an HD release is that nobody seems to care. I'm way higher on the scoreboard in the DDP:R HD release than I have a right to be, because there are only a couple hundred players. I bet they lost money on both of those releases, even though they are $13.99. I'd bet that they are losing money on BP2BL as well, based on the scoreboard population.

HD releases also limits a lot the hardware, and being a niche game, that's not interesting.

I think 20 dollars is more accurate if they did each of their titles redone with Retina, and I would pay it in a heartbeat personally. But yeah, the shooter fans like us are a select breed and I would assume the incentive to update the graphics is overall not worthwhile monetarily. Damn shame.

I just know when you look at the way things are progressing with technology people are going to start glossing over titles that aren't Retina or HD.

K, I remember this being mentioned, but don't really remember...

I'd KILL for a restart button while playing through Stage Attack or Practice modes... where did you guys request this? Was it Twitter, Facebook... through their e-mail??

  6. Does anyone think they will be making a lite version of this game? Since most cave games have a lite version to try out, this one really needs it because of the similarity to the regular bug princess 2 and the new inapps.

Some users here on TA are telling me to get Dariusburst and Space Invaders Infinity Gene, so looks like I'll be getting them instead of the black label since they are about the same price. Since I have both bug princess and bug princess 2, I think I will have to go this route, but it kind of makes me sad cause I love cave shooters. But kind of excited to give Taito a try, hopefully this will be a good decision for me.

But hopefully there will be a bug princess 2 black label lite (man that is a long title), then who knows maybe I will like it so much, I would buy it. And I sure hope deathsmiles hd is going to come out, I love that game too.

A Lite version will not be able to make justice to the difference between the two, I've posted the system differences a few pages before, and of course, enemies position, bullet patterns etc. are different, and with the new scoring system for the three modes, make it feel like a whole new game. Yes, same characters and stage designs, but that's about it, everything else is different. All IAP are irrelevant, and you can play boss rush once a day having both bug princess games, which is more than enough to judge if the price tag for the IAP is worth or not for you.

I think you have to be honest with yourself how big of a Cave fan you are and how hardcore you are (with recognizing the difference in scoring systems, bullet patterns and such). To the more casual fans where all the Cave games feels pretty much the same..then I'd recommend Dariusburst and/or Space Invaders for a more different experience. If your hardcore..then you probably have this game already. ;P

  9. Sniff sniff, I've been told before that I am not a hardcore gamer even though I bought modern combat 3. Now, I'm not a hardcore caver even though I pretty much have all their titles except this one and play one of them almost everyday.

Sigh, feel so neglected, will cry myself to sleep tonight. :)

But curious tops2, you would rather have bp2 black label over dariusburst and space invaders infinity gene if you owned both bug princesses already?

Oh, well, at least getting ataris greatest hits with over 100 free games will make me happy tonight, check it out it just went free today!

dariusburst has completely different game style. i would say it's ok but quite simple shooter and the scoring system is not challenging at all.

The difference of this game from all the rest (don't know about BP2 since I didnt get that one) is so big just in the socring system, I find it hard to go back to any other shooter, tbh, and while I'm a hardcore gamer I'm in no way a hardcore bullet heller (yes, I did that). So yeah, this was totally worth it to me.

Actually I found out you can play BR if you only have 1 of the BPs, I only had/have BP1 and it worked nicely, played once, enjoyed and bought.

I thought you had to have both... even easier to enjoy this way =)
And I still love DoDonPachi Ressurrection more... I think it's less frustrating trying to get a good score, I had so many ragequits while I played BP2BL, but still, it's a close second :D

Thanks for your long and thoughtful pm that you sent to me about the gameplay of this game. I love cave games, and I'm glad they came out with this black label over some kind of social game which was rumored.

I thought it was kind of funny when you kind of called me out for not being a hardcore "caver", but you know what, my mama once told me, "Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me..."

I'm just kidding by the way. Anyway, thanks for your cool pm and advice about various shmups, I appreciate it.

    Signed, from a non-hardcore caver... ;)

Edit: the poster after me Zeth, must be what you consider as a hardcore caver.... One billion, wow!

Broke 1 billion, still one Japanese player ahead of me (and that hacked score). Original mode is super fun but I can't get into Maniac or God because of the shot controls. Just very difficult to score properly.

Ha... Yeah, I'm still working on perfecting Stage 1 in Original Mode, now that I know how to score properly... But I can see it taking me a good month or two before I feel comfortable going for a complete run through for a high score... And then I get to go back to Manic and God Modes! So freakin glad I got the BL Version... I tried playing the vanilla BP2 earlier today... And I just can't go back... The colors are dull, gems blend into the background, and it's just not as fun anymore... =oP

Hope more BL variations make it to the iOS!

Can you get the stage counter to 9999 before the midboss? I can't figure it out, even after watching videos D:

hey, just a question to the BP pros :)

For original mode, I notice that green shot mode "sucks in" air gems but blue laser does not. What I normally do when my counter requires me to use the laser is to destroy as many enemies as possible, than switch to green shot mode to suck in the gems they leave behind. This is the more efficient strategy? Cos it does mean I am sometimes in shot mode even when the counter dictates I should be using laser.

    Thanks!

In original mode, aren't I supposed to get close to get better gems? I'm doing that but I'm getting the same yellow gems. Is it disabled in Novice difficulty or something?

    Thanks :D

Also I have the same question as terelin, I use the same strat.
