Because in my opinion (which is one of a very lame scorer), Cave games are the most exihilarating, intense and satsifying shmups out there, regarless of the way you play.

I can look at it from every angle (quality, visuals, story, whatever), I never had as much fun with any shmup as I have with any cave title.

902mil in Original, come at be bros. Did it with Reco but I'm working toward a no miss Palm run.

Anyone else think the rank/speed isn't scaling properly? There should be a major jump in bullet speed when the overall counter passes 100k and it doesn't feel like anything changes. Everything feels really slow actually, I don't know if the rank increases at all. 100k counter stage 4 and 5 are blazing fast on the 360 port.

Maniac and God are almost impossible to score properly in because of the shot controls. It would be awesome if you could just have separate C and A shots that you could hold down. It would totally fix the problem.

sorry for my ignorance, but what is C and A... is Laser shot C, and spread shot A... or the other way around?

    A is concentrated shot/laser. C is rapid shot/spread.

In the arcade/360 you can hold A for laser or tap for spread. And C just gives you spread, in effect tapping A for you. If that makes sense.

All Cave games on iOS slow down when things get intense by default since no matter how good their relative touch is it can never be as precise as a joystick. Have you tried Options->Other->Wait Control->Off?

OMG 902mil... I'll never beat that...
On a side note, I score better on hell/god mode than normal/god mode x_x (only trying to survive though)

Zeth, are you using auto-bomb? I started playing on original and it destroys my score completely... I think it's better to die... and do you have any videos of people playing for score, none that I found in Youtube really showed good stuff, I wanted to see shedding being exploited, because I still don't get it to work consistently

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

Had a no miss no hit run going on God Mode on Hard Difficulty, until I accidentally slid right into an enemy right before the last boss battle, and SCREWED IT ALL UP!

Damnit I'm LOVIN GodMode. definitely would have been fine paying $15 for this alone.

    Woot, gotta love Cave!

You are absolutely right, there is a place for it, and you describe that place quite well. I recommend that people should look to you for a fair assessment of the system, but I will qualify my statement.

My personal opinion about it is that bosses are sacred in CAVE games and their difficulty system combined with the mode variety offers the choice space that is necessary. When I first get to a Boss on Normal, I want to feel like I can beat him, but probably not in the ideal, highest scoring way. I work toward that. When I play the same Boss in Ultra or God, I want to get thoroughly spanked and feel like I may never perfect him. Again, I then spend time trying to perfect my play. To me, that is a nice, broad space of possibility. I like the contrast between the normal gameplay in a level and the Boss fight. For me, I feel like the Boss Rush grade system circumvents that flow. I don't feel like it improves their tuning, I feel like it de-emphasizes it. Having said that, I bought the mode, simply because I want to support the notion of releasing Black Label versions. Their company is barely kept afloat and as ridiculous as it sounds, I want to do my part to prevent it from sinking entirely. I may have done the same thing with the cheats, even though I'm unlikely to use them, for similar reasons.

Thank you for the kind words too. :)

Ha... Had no clue how to really score big in Original Mode, and then went up to the top 1/3 of the gameplay area, and started blasting away... Pretty much doubled my score for the first two stages...

Dunno why I didn't read that for the original... Or when I first started this yesterday... =o/

    I feel so stupid...

    Lol...

Making multiple versions of the same game is confusing to consumers and can make customers that bought previous versions at a earlier time upset. There should be a IAP to get the additional features.

In the case of the Black Label version the price is doubled and also has IAP. I would think the lower priced non-deluxe version would have all the IAP.

This seems a bit backwards to me.

Then again calling it black label is confusing.

Some would consider the term as original version and some would consider it deluxe.

It's just how they call their games. They (almost?) always release a black label version of their games. I don't think people who actually buy this feel confused because people don't casually buy 15 usd game on iOS systems, it's kinda outrageous for the casual buyer...

Hey, I wanted to say thanks for referencing "Crazy Hedgy!" I had looked right past it numerous times, but based on your comment I decided to check it out, and it looks great!

    Thanks!:D

I finally cracked the 1 billion mark ( i realize that may seem low to some of you but for me it's a BIG jump forward) i seem to do better when i don't use laser as much.

  17. Thanks vagrant, this is the answer I was looking for. Man, I'm jealous, god mode sounds like so much fun. Now I am going to have to wait for some kind soul to put up a ipad video on youtube. For some reason, I can't seem to find any video of the game, only the trailer.

1,000,000,000? I don't see it on the leaderboards. Still one guy ahead of me with a hacked score.

No auto-bomb. It's great for survival but it totally nukes your multiplier (zero). BL Original is otherwise pretty forgiving about the counter. Bombs only remove 3k I think, and deaths remove 1/3 of your total.

    I am using auto-bomb trying to 1CC God/Hell though.
