Wow The Bandit looks cool...I feel like he will be a good substitute for Ant because late game on hard the Ant is nigh useless except maybe for scorpions/bumblebees...i usually have extra cash when I lose around lvl 20-23 anyway so he sounds awesome! Can't wait man...please release the update soon! first it was late march (now) and now early april...the suspenseeeeeeeeeeee
Well it's better to have it be polished and balanced, don't you think? PS. I found out what's causing the weird zoom level glitch. Use Earthquake jump, and at the moment of impact switch to Spider. This can result in a extra zoomed in view or an extra zoomed out view (goggles for Ant level).
I killed the last bug of a creep killer quest. and then the 'failed quest' pops up while it was showing the dieing animation (it was an elephant snail). grrr.
Do you think bug heroes is losing its fan base? it only has 29 reviews right now, and i would say the game never really entered into the top 25, so it didn't do as good as i thought it would. One thing i can think of to get more sales, is when you get the iap update submitted, make it free for a day.
Don't worry about us Part of the "problem" with many devs I think is they overreact to anything less then top 100 status, then go free or lower the price very quickly. Bug Heroes is actually doing well in the middle ground. Plus, the long term is definitely what matters most, and we do have a comprehensive marketing plan that we hope will get some more players in the future. Also don't forget the app store is worldwide, so its definitely about more then just the US. For ex we cracked the top 10 in Denmark the other day which was definitely a welcome boost in sales
I am expecting that eventually (probably after the surge in sales from the next update), bug heroes will go free permanently, rise to the top of the free charts, and make money off of the IAPs. but that is just my guess and I am sure Foursaken Media knows what it is doing...
hopefully will get to buy this, just a suggestion is that don't do IAP. Angry birds has only one and has been at the top for ages. Fan bases will talk more highly about apps that give away stuff. I understand that it is very hard to develop and that you guys are making new stuff not just reusing already designed graphics. Just saying.
grrr. something is wrong with the quest finished detection. this time I killed the last spider with a bomb, and the instant it is killed, spider got a level up (due to the experience points from the kill, not the quest) .... but 'quest failed' still popped up as the spider dieing animation was happening.. hmph.
Of course, but keep in mind when your fan base is millions of people you can afford to give away that many updates for free -- besides, the updates we have planned are much bigger then any free update I can recall. The reality is if these heroes weren't IAP, we would never have made them in the first place. We would've continued to do free equipment and levels (which we will still do mind you), and no one would know the difference. We are taking a chance with the IAP, but we hope that ultimately people will feel like the IAP is actually worth it and is content they genuinely want, and not some scam to get more money out of our customers. Besides, make no mistake we have been, and will continue to support Bug Heroes will free content updates. In the first 2 months of release we've released quite a bit of new content, and have more plans for the future (already have a free new adventure level in the works ). Yes there will be IAP, but it will be there only to enhance the game. Will the IAP be awesome? yes. Will we hope it will be awesome enough that people feel like they have to get it? yes. Is it necessary to get the IAP? no. Will the game still be awesome and provide a complete and satisfying game experience if you never get the IAP? yes.
When you say fully optimized for ipad 2, what do you mean exactly? Using shaders and upgrading the graphics engine? Or just making sure it runs at maximum performance on the ipad2? I'm talking to our game coder about this... I'll get back to you, as there may be a legitimate reason why quest kills are delayed.
@Foursaken Media. As I mentioned in the thread you created about IAPs and why people hate them, it would be great if you have "Restore Purchases" button that would automatically unlock the purchased packs. 1 year down the track when I install the game on a new iDevice I don't want to have to remember what I purchased. Its just so convenient. Thanks. BTW, I'll be buying all the packs. I love the game!
If game design is done right, I have no problems with IAP, in fact, I would love to see even more properly done IAP. Give people a complete game at an entry price that doesn't scare people off. If they like it, they get a good game. If they don't like it, they're only out a buck or two. If they really like it, they have the option to genuinely expand the game experience and support the developer. I'll be expanding my BH just as soon as the IAP becomes available. I don't think this is possible at this time since the whole trigger as to what you bought is only returned once you make an attempt to buy the item and the iTunes store finds the same item ID already on your account. Apple would have to change things first for this to be possible. That said, I don't see this as a big deal. I mean, if I'm still playing the game a device or two later and I find something locked after I set it up, I'm going to know if I bought it or not (and if for some reason I really can't remember, why am I not going to just go ahead and "buy" it anyhow if I want it unlocked - I've been playing the game for X months, of course I like it enough to unlock the expansion pack). You make it sound like after playing a game for over a year for a few dollars you'd be inconvenienced by re-buying (for free) a few expansion packs. With two kids and 3 i-Dievices, I'm re-unlocking stuff all the time, it's not that big of a deal at all.
The point is that with dozens or hundreds of games, keeping track of what you bought and didn't buy in all of them across multiple devices is quite a pain. Maybe you are used to the inconvenience, that doesn't make it less of a hassle. Or maybe you just have a better memory or devote more of your brainpower to remembering such things than us old folks.
I bought all the ships in Space Miner Blast in a "Blast Pack". You can also buy them individually. A year from now if I go back and try to unlock one of the ships instead of the whole pack, I'll be charged again for that ship. Thankfully that game has "Restore Purchases" feature which is very convenient and frankly what all games with IAPs should have.
tht'll answr my issue too I don't hav the time to get the bugs ironed out, I wanna KILL them you see?
And alter some existing as well(i.e. The coliseum being lowered from 30 to 20) that are a little too farfetched to obtained?
