well, beetle, spider, and ant all have quite powerful main weapons. two of the new heroes, the termite and worm, seem to have weak main weapons, and are all about their abilities. so I'm just curious if any of the other new heroes will have real powerful main weapons, instead of being mostly about their abilities. if that makes any sense. okay. I have heard that base turrets don't always give heroes xp. how does that work? what happens when the hero does some of the damage to a bug, but the turret finishes it off, or vice-versa?
Sweet, but does he need more than one? I mean one shotgun should suffice with powerful short-ranged spread effect.
It's sorta like Spider's assassin pistols, they're not both needed, but balance out the character. So it doesn't look lopsided or such.
Oops sorry iJay, I mis-spoke. Base turrets only give gold, not xp, sorry bout that. Also, don't know what makes you think Worm has a weak primary weapon Termite's is a bit weaker, or rather, harder to use, but can still be powerful in its own right. Its DPS is actually quite high and it can pierce armor, its just that Termite is weak, not that fast, and has to get into melee range to do damage... what this means its going to be harder to really dish out that damage with him (then again, he is a support hero). As for Worm, his main weapon is actual one of my favorites... While it appears to be a pretty standard rifle, it has the innate ability to pierce through enemies, dishing out mediocre damage to long lines of enemies. He also has a cool level up skill called "Take Aim" where you gain a damage bonus whenever he is not moving. Ladybug, the other hero, has a fast attacking rapier which deals about the same total damage as Spider's weapon. The main difference is that Ladybug's weapon does not pierce armor, so she has slightly more difficulty taking down armored enemies like Armor Ants and Snails. On the flip side, she has more armor then Spider, so she can handle groups of smaller bugs like Fleas and Ants better. Don't worry, of course I'm sure everything won't be perfect for the first release, we're spending literally 100s of hours playing through with all the heroes to ensure balance is pretty spot on. @ GodSon -- well, 2 shotguns is just cooler
Sounds like two to even out an equal range(aoe) of balance like his swipe with the stick. I like the sound of it. EDIT: @Foursaken_Media There you go with the teasing! MAN I can't wait for this update...Love it!
Game Impressions Just wanted to say that I'm loving Bug Heroes. Easily my favorite game on my iPad. It's cleverly balanced and endlessly replayable and I am really looking forward to purchasing a bunch more content once you release it. My only complaint is that your game has forced me to go back and try improve my own (I am working on Pocket RPG)
I'm pretty sure K was joking about Beetle getting shotguns. Lol. Beetle already has a ranged attack, and a damn good one, which is shockwave. Also, from my testing, Spider's pistols are nigh useless. They're not even powerful enough to penetrate Armored Ants' armor, and instead of switching to the pistols, you have plenty of much better options to deal with pretty much any situation that are much less risky. I think the pistols need a special property to make it worth using, like a knockback, a stun, or something like that. btw, I still maintain that poison cloud is a bad ability.
I do find it quite useful when I am running around on yard, trying to take care of a couple queen ants, and a giant spider or two spawns. if it weren't for poison cloud I would get bogged down really bad.
Yeah, it's not completely useless. I could also see it being used to fight centipedes and grubs (slowing them down). Maybe I should test it against siege enemies.
I wasn't joking, Foursaken_Media has mentioned it in several posts. But I absolutely agree with your assessment of Assassin Pistols and poison cloud.
Really? I remember reading about someone having shotguns, but I don't remember it being Beetle; I thought it was a new hero. I found the mental image to be somewhat amusing. Sounds interesting though.
After more testing, I found Poison Cloud to be somewhat useful against large groups of siege units, assuming that they're not accompanied with other non-siege bugs (don't know what else to call them). However, it is really lacking in the damage department, especially later in the game, where I could hardly kill even the small grubs with it. The slowdown is somewhat useful, but doesn't make it nearly as practical as other options. You want to be using Beetle against larger groups of siege bugs anyway. I suppose it could be useful against centipedes, but I noticed that the slowdown is not dramatic against slow-moving bugs anyway. However, I did find one practical use aside from getting rid of armies of tiny spiders, and that is to catch butterflies. The butterfly becomes slow enough for you to easily kill it with spider's blades (not the basic ones though, they're useless against butterflies). It's not the only way to effectively kill butterflies though, so it's not a good enough reason to purchase it unless you're rich.
I don't know... it does do 200 damage to each enemy around him... granted its over time, but it still has the potential to do WAY more damage then Executioner can. It also has specific uses when you need to assassinate bigger bugs in a crowded area. Lets say you really need to take out a grub launcher or queen ant asap, but the area is surrounded with ants and fleas. Poison cloud is the perfect choice to slow and damage all those lesser bugs, giving you breathing room to take out your primary target. Not to mention it is especially important in Coliseum mode, where you don't have Beetle if you chose Spider. Do keep in mind that we made sure to balance between the 2 modes, so some may be better or worse depending on whether you choose Adventure or Coliseum. I maintain that there is a solid use in both modes, but some may be better or worse. Finally, abilities like this one will give much more flexibility with the IAP heroes, allowing you to customize your team much better (lets say you don't pick Beetle for ex, and you need some crowd control). P.S, Pistols have been buffed quite a bit in damage. Mind you they do already have a bit of knockback, making them a decent choice against groups of bugs once you have Spider's speed fully upgraded.
In theory, but the problem is that it's practically impossible to make full use of its damage on a single bug without taking some serious damage, since Spider needs to be on the move consistently, unless you're against siege bugs. Now it might be a different story if the poison actually lasted more than one second after leaving the area of effect. Couldn't you have the poison affect the targets for as long as the ability is active, regardless of the distance? Question though, how many seconds would it theoretically take to kill a bunch of small grubs with poison cloud? What about around round 25 or so? Because I find the damage to be quite underwhelming. By the way, doesn't Executioner do 200 damage? Superior Assassin is a far better choice in these situations IMO, since the only advantage Poison Cloud has is the damage over time, which isn't nearly as good as having: Enemy attacks, movement AND bullets slowed down, Spider's speed boost and increased crit chance to take down the targets in question. And I'm not sure, does Poison Cloud even slow down enemy rotation speed? Because often you circle large enemies to avoid their attacks, and if it didn't, that would be one less reason to use it. Granted, I'm not much of a Coliseum player, but I found it to be more trouble than its worth when I did try it. Any experienced Coliseum players here have anything to say on the subject? Guess we'll have to see. I don't see myself using it either way, since it's necessary to have at least one hero that specializes in crowd control (that's the case right now, at least).
Hey, I'm wondering what would be the best turret combinations for Office, Normal/Hard. I hear that 4 MG is great for office, but would other turrets (like that one AoE turret) be of help? Thanks. Also, do people upgrade their food stash? Or do they just stick with the normal amount?
Laser turrets rock in Office. A possible combo is 2 MG, 1 Laser and 1 Zapper. You should experiment and see what works for you. I don't believe in following fixed formulas. I always have my food stash fully upgraded by the end of the game, but it depends on how much food you've got. I avoid eating food until I my stash is upgraded and full (and rely on Life Support to keep my heroes up and running).
