    Drat!

Had a great game going yesterday, playing on the playroom map(normal mode) while on level 19 a big wave of armor ants, slugs & pill bugs came at the same time . I used my better base guns & howitzer gun & took down most of them ( I easily would have made further ) then the game crashed ( DRAT!) first time I've had a game crash while playing bug heroes. Then it got a little weird I tried to play after I saw the continue button thinking it would pick up where I left off but it dropped down to level 16 & I was facing a centipede? Is this normal when a game crashes?

Yeah I've noticed that on my 2nd gen, when a game crashes, then I reload that game it'll take me back a few minutes (or a couple rounds) into the past.

It's normally the last auto-save that it takes you back to...

Except that it should autosave every round...

I've been returned into the midst of a round after a crash. I had just finished the Ant Expert quest when the game gave up on me, and received the completion text as soon as I got back in game, so perhaps it auto-saves after quest completion as well.

@Foursaken - This is not really what I would classify as a bug, more a glitch or exploit but I've found that when you have multiple coin collection quests active the coins you collect count towards both quests. While the benefits are "nice" it would probably make more sense to implement conditional logic to not offer new coin collection quests while another is still active.

Though I completely agree with you, the few times I experienced a crash/recreated; it put me in the middle of a round just prior to the crash.

If it didn't restore your data on the last round, it means something happened all the way back from where you game was restored... meaning you were playing with some kind of glitch for several rounds before it got bad enough to a point where it crashed... we'll look into this asap.

I've been experimenting with different turrents setups so far 3 machine-guns & 1 sniper works for a while. But the sniper loses some punch ( for me at least) as I progress. thinking I may try a laser or magnifying glass instead of the sniper, but the magnifying glass although powerful enough can't be used at night ( when i may be in trouble)Open for suggestions thanks!

I normally use 2 machine guns and 2 snipers. That seems to work for a while at least (I made it to round 23 on easy Playroom earlier, not a great feat for the pros, I guess but I was proud :D).

I tried using the magnifiers and lasers but to me the laser never really did a lot of damage until you upgrading it quite a bit.

The magnifier works perfectly in the daytime, but it's easy to get overwhelmed at night.

I agree, that's what I've been saying. Snipers lose punch as you face larger numbers of enemies. 4 Machine guns do a very good job in pretty much any map, but turrets have different values in different maps. Like for instance, Laser turrets are most effective in Pond, because the map is very narrow. I got my highscore (round 45 or so) with 2 Machine guns and 2 Lasers. In Yard, Machine guns rule, so I go for 4 MG turrets. Magnifying glass is very effective in Kitchen because the entrance to your base is narrow, and it could totally toast enemies jammed at the choke-point. Add a zapper to the combination and you have a very powerful advantage.

Fours4ken Media: I think Coliseum could use some tweaking. The randomness of food drops makes it very difficult to achieve consistent results. One of the reasons I don't play it very often. Sometimes you could reach round 15 with full HP if you're lucky, and other times you're with 1/4, simply due to variation in food drops. The variation is far more significant here than it is for Adventure mode.

Do you normally play on Easy, Normal, or Hard?

I already nerfed MG turrets range (again) for 1.1.1, but I'm thinking I might just flat out reduce its damage and lower its cost. Personally I don't think Sniper Turrets become ineffective so much as fully upgraded MG turrets are just plain old nasty... and are relatively cheaper to boot.

As far as the food in Coliseum goes, I'm torn... I used to think the same way actually, but having the food random also creates a somewhat more dynamic environment. It does end up balancing out to an extent if you play for a certain amount of time, simply by the law of averages... I can certainly see your argument though.

The way I see it, Machine guns will still remain necessary. I will still need to have two MG turrets per game, regardless, simply because they are the only practical way to deal with individual small bugs. Without MG turrets, your base is completely vulnerable to grub launchers. You won't be able to use the base as a shelter from fleas charging at you unless you switch to beetle. Your turrets won't be able to take out individual small grubs from advancing towards your base without wasting too much time because of their long cooldowns. So maybe instead of nerfing them, you could make other changes, like add some short-ranged turrets (flamethrowers) to compensate for the other turrets' inability to handle swarms of small bugs. Almost all the non-MG turrets are have very long ranges, but very long cooldowns.

So how about making the food drops more frequent, but in smaller amounts, to reduce the randomness factor?

Sorry, I don't mean to tell you how to do your game. I just like these discussions. :D

+1 to this as well as these type of discussions. I'd love to see more Coliseum levels in general. By far the Tree stump is owns the other level.

Also the MG Turrets are fine as is, they serve there purpose pretty efficiently. I agree that the others may need a little more love as far as a decrease in loading times. Additional turret types are always welcomed. ;)
