I asked about that during the beta, and I was told that they wouldn't have time to fix it before release. Maybe it'll bet fixed now, though. Just stand in front of your base with him (right by the corner), upgrade his weapon, and throw a snare web infront of you. If you need to move, switch to Ant or Spider.
Yes but keep in mind what we're talking about here: spawn locations of food and quests and items, not primary game mechanics that you NEED to know. Its almost like saying you want to play a game like Aralon and have them tell you where all the items, enemies, quests, and secrets can be found without having to figure it out yourself... isn't a large part of the game actually finding and figuring this stuff out? (same way that finding food and exploring to complete quests is part of the game play of Bug Heroes, for better or for worse) And as developers, we have to draw the line somewhere... We can't possibly supply all the exact speed numbers, weapon ranges, damage numbers, spawn locations, spawn times, movement tendencies, enemy AI, specific enemy info, and all the inner workings of the entire game -- especially in a game like this... At a certain point it takes away some of the "game" out of the game when you start giving up every little hidden thing about how the game works. Come to think of it, can you name a game of this general genre (dual stick or action, or adventure) which provides "everything about how the game works" as you mentioned? In the end, of course you're entitled to your opinion but just imo I think the draw of many non-casual games (strategy games, RPGs, more in depth action/adventure games) is figuring out some of the nuances of that game. In fact many games (collecting items or exploring for ex) are entirely based off of this principle. ------------------------------------------------- In regards to a countdown after pause, the difference with Bug Heroes vs say Minigore is that there is actually valuable game play info in the pause screen. I frequently turn on/off the pause menu to check for quest specifics and I think it could get annoying to have to wait 3 seconds every time I wanted to check the pause menu. Also Bug Heroes isn't as punishing as a game like that where you only have 3 powers. Note that we did make it so controls no longer disengage when messages pop-up though, which should help a bunch -- I know a few people (esp with lower gen devices) were complaining about this before.
This game is awesome beyond my powers of reason and description. Can't wait for these upcoming updates.
Drat! Whenever i'm doing very well, the dreadful grubs & giant siege grubs as well as siege maggot ruin it ( believe it or not i'm still having trouble with those 3) is it me or do the army ants & army fleas never seem to miss?
You should definitely be packing a few "base defense" tricks up your sleeve... either earthquake jump, better base guns, superior assassin, or bug bombs are all great abilities/weapons to buy you time when it looks like things are going to go badly. And army ants and fleas have relatively slow projectiles... you have to dodge them in order for them to "miss." Or of course you can simply absorb their damage pretty easily with an armored up Beetle if you're not one to dodge Superior Assassin is also a great ability in order to give you some breathing room. Thanks nullroar! We've been making some major strides in some of the new content (after this next update which will have GC, universal support, and a few other goodies). @ Aquil -- no plans for multiplayer at this time.
thanks as always , i really applaud you for continuing to listen to feedback, offer help, etc. thanks i really appreciate it.
Use Spider or ant to move, then switch to Beetle if more than 2 bugs are attacking you, then back to spider to move again. Generally, the only time I'm moving with Beetle is on base defense, and it's in a relatively small area- using beetle to go across the map is excruciatingly slow. For the grub packs, use beetle (hopefully with points in stun and a big stick or wrench for levels 15+) to bash them from the side or rear. For the Giant Siege Grubs, switch to Spider and get beside or behind them to hack and slash. The shooters aim directly for you when they fire, but if you move once they fire you can dodge. Try strafing a few seconds left or right (or circling) with Spider to dodge the bullets. With upgraded speed, you should be able to dodge just about anything (besides multiple MG teams- best to use ant to teleport on one, then switch to beetle to soak extra bullets while you bat them around).
Nah, that score is legit. You're forgetting about quests... the single most important factor in getting a high score is completing as many quests as possible -- especially the big quests (honor quests, big enemy quests, etc). Over the course of ~60 rounds its not unrealistic to think this guy completed 5-10 more quests then you, or simply failed less. For example look at the #7 spot which is 4 rounds below the #9 spot, yet 7k points more... I know some people just tend to skip every quest after a certain point, but imo thats just playing it safe and is NOT the best way to go about trying to get as high a score as possible. In fact thats one of the things I love about our scoring system... you can go for that high score several different ways (playing safe and lasting more rounds, or going risky and completing more quests, but probably dying a bit sooner).
Is it just me, or is it really difficult to kill anything with Ant's guns? Seems like it's mostly good for pushing bugs away rather than killing, especially later when everything is armored. By the way, if you need any iPad beta testers for Universal support, I'd be willing to participate.
I can't remember if you said you were gonna fix it or not, but it's crazily easy to cheat in this game. I'm not gonna give out step by step instructions obviously, but anyone can edit money, exp, level, pretty much everything for a save file. I'll admit I did try it, and it was really really cool seeing how long I could last with infinite money, and all level 20 characters. I didn't post the score though, cause it would've seemed legit, and it's definitely not. Fixing it shouldn't be too hard at all, so hope you do. Still enjoying this game though, can't wait for iPad support
All they'd have to do is encrypt the save files I believe. But then again I don't know how this cheat actually works, but if it's anything like NOVA 1's then encrypting it should work.
Tips? I've managed to make a few times to levels 11-12 ( on the yard map) but I'm having real trouble with the scorpions (any tips) & trying to kill the queen ant, I just can't close enough to her to kill her. Her bodyguards as well as the other ants swarm me. Thanks for any tips
Are u sure the number one on hard is legit? im pretty good at completing quest and the guy have around 70000 more points while being one round less
Definitely going to have to disagree here... Ant is so nasty with fully upgraded weapon... he might be a tad weak against armored enemies, but lucky shot pierces armor and he is long range, able to stay away from most harm. We also have some new equipments in the works which will give him various attacking buffs if thats the route you want to go Fixed for next update. Everything is encrypted. Stunning is key for both of these enemies. Stun the guards, lay waste to the Queen Or hit and run with an assassin bomb or squash em. Or another good strat is to use poison and superior assassin at the same time, DOUBLE slowing down her entourage so you can just dodge and hack her up. As for the Scorpion, yes he is definitely tough... But same type deal. Lots of stuns (beetle is key... you'll need a lot of his "stun skill" as well once you run out of stunning abilities. Also make sure your turrets are helping you. We'll look into it.
Upgrade speed for Ant and Spider, you'll need it. Just run laps around your base and let your turrets do the work for you. For queen ants, remember the spawn locations and then just charge in with Beetle and Smash 'Em. Don't even waste your time killing her bodyguards as they respawn quickly and are buffered by the queen ant.
Spent my lunch hour typing up my strat to getting to level 82 (on easy, so not really that big a feat, I guess). Took TOO long, forgot to copy and save, and TA logged me out on the submit. Lost. Everything. Awesome. I'll just go over some of the stuff that nobody said: Thing 1: I *DO NOT* bother chasing down caterpillars. I camp my base instead, spamming teleport to try to see them coming from the right side (over the air). When I see them, I pop better base guns and they die before reaching me. If that CD isn't up, they can actually be "knocked" over the edge of the kitchen once they reach it...they fall into the pit and die. I use spider web there to slow them down and use a beetle pushback move or the spider execute move and my base stays perfectly safe. Thing 2: I use CDs in combination with each other when things hit the fan. At that point in the game, I'm loaded with CDs and can't use them fast enough, so sometimes I'll use Entrench (the pushback becomes invaluable later in the game when dealing with centipedes - you can keep them pushed back for a LONG time, and even teleport to push them back at a different angle while staying entrenched) combiend with howitzer for insane damage and clearing. Thing 3: Beetle Gauntlet > Poison. Just make sure you don't stand in it and wait around. Thing 4: As everyone said, spider speed is important. Perhaps less-well reported: Beetle regenerate is good, but don't get it early, as beetle likely won't take enough damage early on to justify it. Since he regenerates best when he isn't in use, I like to go for armor to engage mobs early, and only start getting regenerate after 5 armor (and or 4 armor and an armor-increasing item, like shield or gauntlet). Thing 5: I like MGs (superior to sniper / lazer, which I originally used widely with limited success), but the star of your arsenal is the Zapper. Max our a zapper and you will be happy you did - it 1-hits swarms of baby spiders, as well as slows the big-baddies for you to kite around your base and wait for cooldowns. A zapper is invaluable.
Ah, that sucks. Next lunch period? jk I'll add your post to the guide. Pretty funny that snare webs slow down butterflies that fly above them, but whatever works. I use a similar strategy.
