number 7 is still my big problem , i tend to give up when a wave of seige maggots & grubs are eating my food stash figuring it's hopeless. i quit
Great game but I'm struggling with some of the search quests... for example, are coins and other items just randomly placed around the map or is there a strategy too it? I can't ever seem to find enough in the time given.
This is a pro-tip - together with KPdG's tip no. 9 - don't worry about the big spider, mixed with some MG turrets to shoot down the small spiders, you will be able to get a lot of food to help replenish your stack.
There are fixed spawn points for the coins, you just have to cycle through them when you do the quest. These spawn points are typically the same locations as food and bug spawn points in my own experience. e.g. on the office map, it's north of your food stash (on the left and right of the block), behind the keyboard, and on the glass table entrance, and bottom right and left ends of the glass table. Needless to say, you should accept this quest early on, but late game is very very risky as you may be intercepted by bugs as you search.
Correct... coins use the same spawn points as food. They are randomly placed between all available spawns though, but for example food and coins have a higher probably of spawning in the rat hole on the kitchen. We will be adding a green circle around coins to help people be able to see them better against certain textures and backgrounds. And good exploit with the baby spiders We'll be changing this.... And yeah, definitely don't panic when your base is getting owned is a good strat... there is usually always a way out, from using beetle to knock enemies backwards to give your turrets time to cream them, to using just one well placed executioner, to using superior assassin to slow down time to cut up incoming bugs, to building a bug bomb if things are looking grim... some good tips here for sure.
Intercepted by bugs is my other challenge. If I accept the challenge near the end of a wave and the next wave is a charge on my stash, I'm out of luck on the quest.
Large defense waves are actually set waves, by design... i'll give you the first 2 round 4 and 8 (in kitchen at least) are defense... Also abilities like Earthquake Jump, Superior Assassin, and Better Base Guns are great tools to "buy you time" to go complete quests while your base holds off incoming bugs until you get back.
how? how do use 2 porta-turrets at one time? i've tried placing 2 but could only get 1. what am i doing wrong?
You can -- Those people are actually creating separate accounts using the same name. Heck, if they want to unlock all the new equipment for 10 different accounts, we've got nothing against that. Its also a good way to post multiple heroes on coliseum using the same name.
