@foursaken Please remove the cheaters high score. Round 2 and well over 100000 points is impossible. Seems like the highscore system need more security Yard hard and kitchen easy
Could we get some info about how the whole armor system works (including the bonuses that each piece of equipment that provides armor gives)?
It's not that hard to change <key>kitchenhighscore</key><true>your high score goes here</true> to something else. They definitely need better security, perhaps saving the highscore in two places and then taking the lower score? Visual armor upgrades don't actually do anything to help your character, they just make you look better. Shield and armor upgrades for Beetle when leveling up drastically reduce the amount of damage you take.
I already knew that, but I'd like some explanations about how it reduces damage and to what extend for each point spent in the armor attribute and for each piece of related equipment.
Universal eh? If this is confirmed news I'll be getting the game now. Been wanting to play it since its release.
Malarky, I say Foursaken_Media is just some fanatical fan CLAIMING to be a FSM staffer telling us what we want to hear (cool new updates and other great stuff)!
Heh, indeed The real Foursaken Media doesn't give a crap about this game and wants it to fail And don't worry all of the scores out of the ordinary will be deleted... we're looking into score security now, that is the scores that don't match up with the round #. However, I am quite certain round 100+ on easy is quite feasible, believe it or not.
The armor system is simply a point reduction system, so that armor is more effective (reduces a larger %), mostly against weaker enemy attacks. Some enemies have armor piercing attacks (which will ignore x amount of armor). These are usually larger enemies that you are not supposed to be fighting with Beetle, to encourage the use of multiple heroes. For example, a flea does 8 damage. Beetle starts with 3 melee and ranged armor (2 separate stats). So Beetle starts off taking 5 damage from fleas, whereas the other heroes take the full 8 damage -- might not seem like much but since fleas come in large packs, that damage prevented really starts to add up. Shield gives +3 armor, Warrior Gauntlet gives +2 armor, and Iron Hood gives +4 armor. Beetle's armor upgrades give a progressively increasing amount of armor... the 1st 3 upgrades give +1 points of armor each, then +2, then +3. So with fully upgraded armor Beetle has 11 armor, making him take only 1 damage from fleas, army fleas, ants, army ants and only 2 damage from MG teams. Mind you, it is balanced this way to make sure that beetle stays effective only against the enemies he is meant to be effective against. If it were a % reduction, armor would actually be worse against smaller bugs and better against bigger bugs. Also, please note this info is only for strategy purposes... the game systems underneath the hood have been painstakingly balanced for months (I'm actually a huge RTS fan, so I love things like dps and stat tweaks), so please don't start demanding balance tweaks on these numbers, etc P.S. I'll look into adding some specific numbers to the equipment screens... either that or I'll try to compile a numbers guide if I get the time.
A lazy but informative solution to adding specific numbers directly INTO the game is a online guide/manual/statistics database that is rendered in HTML directly in Bug Heroes via MobileSafari. Far from as pretty as displaying the info in a pre-rendered interface, but also far quicker. Accessing the info online, whether in a pre-rendered or HTML interface, allows for updates and changes to the statistics page without updating Bug Heroes. Might be worth the hassle if you are ever looking to add a more complete gameplay/numbers guide. Interesting read, the armor numbers!
Bug Heroes is the first game on "you should have these games in your iOS device or die" list!! It's not easy to get there, I swear! Very prestigious award! It's in my signature!
So shield is a no brainer first skill for beetle, and I guess one immediate point of armor makes sense too so you take the minimum from flees. After the one point of armor, perhaps regen or stun is where you go next? Oddly, this is one of those games I think about playing more than I actually play it. It takes a while, and I can get frustrated trying to play aggressive and having a hero die while questing. I like it a lot, but I dont play it that often.
From your description, it sounds like both stats (ranged and melee armor) start at the same value for all heroes, and increase at the same rate for all pieces of equipment and level upgrades (Iron Hood, Shield, Warrior Gauntlet, and Beetle's armor upgrades). Is this so, and if so, when do the values differ? It could be useful in knowing whether to run into a scissor or a stream of bullets to avoid the other
Alright here we go, by popular request. Specific numbers for enemies and damages for abilities and weapons. http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=1538527&postcount=56
