Bad luck I guess. Spider and Stick are capable of taking out butterflies with relative ease if they hatch since their attacks can pierce their armor. With Ant and Beetle, you could just use Ant Hole and use Beetle's Squash 'Em to take one out, and use Termite's Food Cultivator to make up for the lost food, and use Ant's Life Support to heal up instead of using up food when you're low. That's how I always keep my stash full and safe from sudden attacks. One more thing about Termite, I always like to place my turrets next to each other at the base so that I'd make the best use of them when I use Spark Plugs, and using it along with Better Base Defenses lets your turrets attack everything on the map, sometimes even taking out Elephant Snails, Grub Launchers and Queens (and of course, Caterpillars), if you have all Termite's turrets placed properly.
I'll look into tweaking miracle worker. As for the cooldown notifications, we kind of feel like managing your abilities is part of the skill of the game... it would likely be a notification spam at the top of the screen if it alerted you when abilities were recharged, and specific abilities you're waiting for to recharge would probably be lost in the garble anyway. As for the damage numbers... we probably will not add them in :/ We really wanted to give Quest a more RPG and persistently progressive feel, not to mention the numbers are one of the things we feel gives it more of a unique identity. This is in the same vein as why we don't add the 4th and 5th weapon upgrades to BH as well... From a purely game play point of view, the numbers would be excellent in Bug Heroes, but ultimately its something that probably isn't going to happen
Ahhh! Squash 'Em! I didn't even think of using that for Butterflies... dangit... I could just wait at my food stash and use Teleporter to see where they're flying in from, use Squash 'Em to take down one, then maybe activate Better Base Guns and Spark Plugs to kill the rest... I'll try that next time. Thanks!!! Awwwwwwww! Not even as an IAP? or something? Maybe a special unlockable for TA-ers? Oh well, still an awesome game!
I just don't get the multiple centipedes thing? I've been playing on hard now for a few months now. I can easily make it to the mid 20's but having to face 2-3 centipedes at once is difficult. Is it common to have the face numerous centipedes at once on hard?
YES. Hahaha, forreal the Centipedes do that quite frequently in Hard. Which map do you play on? What heroes do you use? What Turret set-up do you use? For Centipedes now, (assuming you have Ant, Beetle and Termite/Roach) during the day I just activate Better Base Guns (if they're still somewhat far from your Food Stash, as BBG increases Turret's range dramatically) and the Magnifier will fry them until they come closer, then activate Spark Plugs as they get closer and just shoot at them with Nail Gun until they die, and if they get too close I just activate Earthquake Jump, knocks the darn things back a far distance. At night I usually just activate Collosus (Shockwaves, too if there's a ton of grubs) and just start whacking at the Centipede closest to my Stash and hope the Zappers stun them until the Magnifiers kick in during the day, then repeat the process above. If all the said abilities are cooling down at the time... Good luck
No way they'd take out butterflies, but they could take out caterpillars, unless maybe if you were lucky enough to have 2 or 3 Railguns target them.
i switch between ant, beetle, termite & wizard , i don't have a fixed turret setup yet ( anytips?) i've been using 2 zappers 1 mg and depending day or night charger and scouter. the centipedes are bad on the kitchen map (hard) but whenever i play the living room map(hard) whenever i reach the late teens all hell seems to break loose. thanks for anytips
Don't use both Charger and Scouter at the same time; they won't benefit from each other. Also, Charger and Zappers don't go well together, because the boost in damage isn't going to do much. That's why I don't like charger. Magnifying Glass and Scouter is a better combo, especially in Kitchen. I do like having two Zappers though. You should try playing with Spider or Wasp sometime. The mobility is extremely useful, especially in these two maps, and she can take out pretty much anything with her Assassin Bomb (if you have trouble targeting centipedes, you could use Superior Assassin to slow them down). And, Spider Web is one of the best abilities in the game. Use it to boost your defenses at the base, especially against large enemies like centipedes.
Yeah, because of their extreme armor... I've been using 2 Zappers, 1 Scouter and 1 Magnifier (thanks to Oxy ) on Hard Kitchen and that works well. I wouldn't use Chargers, as they virtually don't do anything to Zappers, they're mostly good for MG's and MG's aren't worth it. I'd switch out the MG for a Magnifier and the Charger for a Scouter. Just my two copper coins What Abilities do you usually use for Ant, Beetle and Termite?
I made it to round 28 on the livingroom map (hard) the overwhelming number of grubs (large & small) plus siege maggots did me in. Also I've been fiddling around with turrets & using 2 maxed out snipers, 1 maxed out mag. Glass & 1 maxed out scouter turret I made it to round 22 kitchen hard. the mg's don't seem to be very useful against armored bugs as you climb up to the higher rounds.
Without using Treasure Trove, which turrets are the hardest to build up in a set of four? I did the machine guns in a really good game. Today I got three maxed out Snipers, but got killed before I got the fourth one. I bought Treasure Trove - to try the occasional anything goes game - but don't want to play it until I get certain achievements (ie. Don't want to get them by default in my gaming when I have unlimited resources, but want to actually get them through playing and trying different strategies). Seems four snipers leaves you at a real disadvantage, as they can't take out all the little guys that swarm at you. Maybe I should max out my machine guns again - and then switch them to snipers if I can before I die. Then try to do that again with the firecrackers. Has anyone else tried it this way?
Yup, that's the way to do it, except it's very hard to do on Hard. Do it on Easy if you want the achievement. The hardest to build up are probably Firecrackers. Snipers are a lot more reliable. Firecrackers could create a real mess.
Bug Heroes Fun Challenge: Various people have talked about TA community challenges in games, so here is a fun one. The next few posters can fine tune the rules, and let's have some fun. If you are not interested, don't knock the idea, just refrain from participating. This challenge would work best with those who have Treasure Trove, but if you are willing to limit yourself according to these rules (and play catch up for the levels you could not purchase abilities and turrets until a level or two later), then we can all participate. Your choice of the characters, or random. Next poster can choose the level, difficulty hard. You can only buy ONE ability and ONE turret upgrade per level - whatever ability you want. For this challenge, you must have ONE firecracker turret, ONE of either magnifier OR charger, and the rest are up to you - BUT you cannot have more than one of the same kind (ie. can't have two machine gun turrets or two laser turrets). Then afterwards, you can post your score/round number here. Quests are optional - unless someone wants to insist we accept all quests, all of a certain kind, etc. I think it could be fun - add a little random element (therefore unexpected challenge) and put all contenders on the same basic page. What do you say? Any takers? Added challenge: whoever can finetune these rules in such a way as to get more particpants, I will buy a copy of Jetpack Joyride IF you are from Canada (I tried gifting games to members from the US and it did not work).
I meant, per round. It levels the playing field a little bit and gives a challenge - otherwise some would use Treasure Trove and max out everything in the first round, which doesn't seem fun to me at all. Each turret can be upgraded five times. I am wanting to limit it to one upgrade for a single turret in each round - so no matter who is playing, it will take them 20 rounds to max out their turrets.
my idea for a challenge: color wars! so basically, im dividing the heroes by color. Yellow: Bumble, Termite, Wasp, Worm Black: Spider, Hunter, Pillbug, Roach Blue: Beetle, Stickbug, Snail, Slug Green: Hopper, Mantis, Leafbug, Mosquito Red: Fly, Ladybug, Flea, Ant Yeah, I know I stretched things a little. Red is the closest thing to orange (flea). Im pretty sure ant is red. BHQ said the red ants were the engineers. The ooze-colored guys (slug and snail) went with blue. Mosquito really should have been black, but I wanted to spread the fastest heroes in the game (wasp, spider, mosquito, fly) out as much as possible. Plus, brown (roach) is closest to black. You pick a color and only use heroes from your color on the team. Each team also has a signature turret. Your turret setup will have to include your team turret. You can have more than one of this turret if you wish, but I think that would be inadvisable unless maybe if you were playing blue or green. Yellow: Scouter Black: Charger Blue: Mushroom Green: Cultivator Red: Magnifier Since maps vary in hardness, im going to say we should all play on the same map: Living Room. And I'm going to say we all play on medium since hard is a bit too much for some people. Oh, and no treasure trove, because then Fly would lose many of his benefits. If you would like to participate, take a screenshot of your hero roster (the menu that comes up after you tap your hero and allows you the equip and switch heroes), your turret setup (menu that comes up after tapping your base), and your score (menu that comes up after you lose). Sound fun? (PS grizzly i'm not in canada, so don't worry about it)
