so fly has to be used with a mushroom to be efficient? i find he isnt really suited for killing the large bugs like bumblebee because his dmg without a mushroom is so weak. but against mass bugs like siege maggots and grubs i find beetle does way better and kills way faster, which makes me doubt the role of fly. this is considering ant with entrench and a machine gun is able to keep bugs in the later levels at bay easily as compared to fly who has no knockback ability and weaker firepower even with gnat banditos and upgraded pistols.
Regarding the use of fly- I usually get pick pocket early, and forego some turret upgrades. I use pick pocket when a large group of small bugs spawn, like fleas. Of course upgrade theft ASAP (with some boosts to speed in between as needed). Also Termite complements Fly VERY nicely, since he has the food making "turret" and you can get 'Barter' for Fly. As for damage with fly, Gnat Banditos adds a very nice amount of damage. Also his abilities, when all fired up, make him quite powerful actually. I'm talking about activating Gnat Banditos, Scoundrel, Spinning Shot, Quick Draw/Drunkard (or replace drunkard with spinning shot if you activate Scoundrel). All those combined with a mushroom will especially rip apart all enemies. Roulette is surprisingly effective, it does heavy damage quite often (FM, what are the chances the higher your chance skill is, so is the minimum damage Roulette does?), and Elephant Snail Gun is useful too- it 1-shots armor ants, and I think I've killed an actual elephant snail with it once in 2 shots (with regular fire when it recharged). It's weaker than other big damage abilities but since it's an equippable weapon you can use it much more often.
Fly's firepower isn't what makes him great. It's his useful abilities and money-making. Plus, he's very fast and isn't affected by slime, making him excellent at moving around the map to gather food and complete quests. And, you can do crazy damage by swallowing a mushroom and activating Drunkard at the same time. Kills a centipede in like 10 seconds.
Just want to remind people to contribute to the wiki. It's empty and we could really use your help. PS. Long time coming?
Lol... I first read that and thought someone hacked our account it was so long ago. I think rats were initially planned for Attic (collect cheese to summon a horde of rats). I know... sounds awesome. Sadly got canned due to time constraints.
It seems that at least some find big and armoured enemies problematic when using Fly. While this might only be a testament to my lack of skill with other characters , I actually find Fly to be one of the most efficient in bringing them down. When faced with one of the true brutes of the Scorpion armies, I activate Scoundrel (stun chance, and almost twice the damage to stunned targets), Gnat Bandidos (more damage) and Quick Draw (slightly more damage, time slowdown which makes avoiding the powerful attacks of the big fellas easier, and, perhaps most importantly, armor piercing shots). When combined with fully upgraded pistols, this rather easily accessible combo can bring down a Scorpion Lord and an Elephant Snail in the Coliseum in little time. More than twice the usual damage plus armor pierce means When combined with a ripe mushroom, it takes only a few seconds. If faced with larger groups, annoying clusters (such as the enemies spawning around and protecting Queen Spiders), or a combination of all things annoying (clusters of large groups and big, hulking enemies), I open with a Spinning Shot, and then proceed to use above-mentioned combo. I can only imagine what a more skilled player could do if they added Drunkard to this combo. Me, I prefer my Fly sober for the time being
I love pillbug, but has anyone found a good use for ladybug? Her armor is too weak, and she has no ranged attacks...
Agh, with so many new good releases (Sonic Racing, 1-Bit Ninja, etc.) and so many sales I haven't played Bug Heroes in a while. D:
Yeah, she's just not that useful. Neither is pillbug really, but at least he's an ok tank. The one significant thing they're better at than anyone else in is dueling with larger bugs, but that's not gonna do you much good when you're constantly harassed by a million bugs. I'll have try using them again after the latest changes though, but as far as I can tell, the situation hasn't changed that much.
He's only useful in Coliseum. Take advantage of his speed and run around blasting stuff. Use Wind Staff for crazy speed if you're being chased by fleas or something. I'm pretty sure it does. I don't see why it would be any different from termite's other defenses.
