What a coincidence. So was I! I don't think it makes sense for them to launch it for free. They can't spread the game too thin with IAPs right from the start; they need it to launch as a solid wholesome game. If I were to guess, the game is probably a much more story-oriented adventure-rpg game exploring the lore and the backgrounds of the different characters. There might be a mission that's like, an assault on the Scoprion Generals' stronghold or something.
As was I! An RPG around the characters beginnings sounds awesome. They could keep a lot of the same graphics and code but create a new game.
I didn't mean using Scoundrel's activated ability, I meant using the passive bonus. Stun the bugs somehow (Spinning Shot, Earthquake Jump, Zapper Turret) and then bring out Drunkard + Snail Rifle for the killshot.
So I tried the "Elephant Snail Rifle" with Scoundrel & targets stunned, I was not able to notice any difference to the normal "Elephant Snail Rifle" shots. Same thing for Drunkard, it does not seem to stack with "Elephant Snail Rifle". Maybe someone could try and verify my findings. So far I find "Elephant Snail Rifle" one of the most efficient ways to waste 1500$ & an equipment slot.
Many thanks for the tips, unfortunately I still cannot get past even level 20 on kitchen on easy - argh! I am so terrible at this. (went all minigun route, using mostly spider against big creatures, beetle against little creatures and ant for occasional healing and going back to my food stash)
Just had the most amazing thing happen to me. I had fly out, and there was an armored ant and a centipede. The armored ant hit fly and knocked him backwards. He wound up landing directly inside the centipede. While I was there, I activated Spinning Shot... and every single bullet hit the Centipede. Every. Single. One. I had just grabbed a pair of red mushrooms, and I wound up one-shotting the centipede. That was pretty sweet.
That's not at all terrible for a beginner. Are you losing because your heroes are dying, or because your food is running out? If your heroes are dying, get more abilities that improve your survival, like Teleport, Ant Hole, Ninja Smoke, Warrior Gauntlet, Superior Assassin, Spider Web, Earthquake Jump...etc, and use them when you're in trouble. If your food keeps running out, try not to eat from it unless necessary, and use Ant's Life Support to keep your characters healed up. Use Ant Hole whenever your base is under attack while you're away. Keep some abilities ready for emergencies when your base is under heavy attack, like Earthquake Jump, Shockwave + Adrenalin, Howitzer, Superior Assassin, Spider Web...etc.
Try a different map. Kitchen is an easy map to get killed on when you're still learning the ropes thanks to that crazy dead-end hole in the wall. I'd recommend trying office or yard (which is the first map I broke the 50-level barrier on, because it's so wide open). Also, while it's a little bit "n00bish" and won't get you to really high levels, a tactic that worked well for me back when my only goal was breaking the 20-level mark was relying more heavily on Ant. Use Spider for running around looking for food/coins/quests, use Beetle for taking out Queens and Giant Spiders (Squash 'Em should be your go-to boss killer), and then use Ant against all the unarmored little bugs. Since he's ranged, he takes less damage, which saves you food in the long run. When you get better, Ant sort of becomes just a skill mule, but when you're learning the ropes, he's a very useful primary attacker. Also, if you haven't tried it yet, give Auto-Aim a whirl. It has its weaknesses (biggest weakness: it's impossible to target an individual bug among a crowd), but it simplifies the game and lets you focus more on the left thumb, which is the thumb that keeps you alive.
You can make that happen by standing in your place and allowing the centipede to walk over you, and then use Spinning Shot. The mushroom thing was a nice touch. Too bad Spinning Shot will barely do any damage after the next patch.
I am new to these boards, and have only had this game for a few weeks. I've gotta say, it is by far one of my favourites! I found this site by searching for tips on the game, and found the thread with the Guide. Interesting to note that many features of the game were not even part of the original - but were added in, developed, etc. based on input and suggestions by the players. Thanks Developers. I am an achievement nut. Who have you made it to level 20 in the Colisseum on? What level, and which characters? First Spider on the Tree trunk level, then the Stickbug (which I haven't played much, but I thought I would try him as he deals out a lot of damage). Both played on Easy. Suggestion for developers: could you add achievements for level 20 in the Colliseum on each difficulty level? Currently, you can get the award for each character by playing on easy - but I would love to have some record of whether I also got there on Normal and Hard, even if it was just some ingame notice (not neccessarily through Gamecenter). So far has anyone got the awards for getting all characters up to level 15, all four of certain turrets, or purchase all the abilities for each character in a game? If so, which ones, what difficulty level, and what level?
Brilliant advice, thank you both! Maybe I should try ant more than, and yeah definitely try a level different to kitchen as the hole can be tricky (congested and surrounded = bad times!) and it's so far away from the food supply if you've already used ant hole. Think I need to support the devs a little too and buy the pack with Fly by the sounds of it, probably a good place to start Thanks again... will hopefully break the 50 barrier soon!
Is it just me or there is a problem with the plasma killer achievement for ant. I have met the requirements of killing 10 bugs with one shot of plasma cannon a couple of times but i do not gain that achievement. Is there a specific enemy that we need to kill to gain this achievement? Also which map and level is it easier to complete all the achievements for the max 4 of the same turret? i find it hard to just use one type of turret even if i only play easy.
