its difficult with hopper because hes so often at 60% or less HP because one wrong battle takes off so much. for that reason i usually just use prayer constantly to keep him more "scrappy". yeah his aoe control is good but if im gonna use a melee char like hopper id like to be able to whack some enemies around once in a while...especially near the base
@Dyelon Yeah I like healing abilities, but his maxed-out faith is keeping him alive much more effectively than I thought. Right now, I think fending off a group of centipede and elephant snails is the problem. Which one will help more? Inspire or Holy Aura? I dont think I can get both since i dont think I will get enough cash by then. still stuck at 22 until then.
New observations: Ladybug: I'm sorry, but I haven't been able to find a single map where picking Ladybug appeared to be a good idea. The leaderboards on Hard specifically seem to agree with me; very few people seem to use her. She's definitely very powerful, but becomes less practical and relevant the more you advance into the game as you fight more and more enemies. Spider is just as effective, if not more so, for regular combat purposes, but she also has far superior game-changing utility. Grasshopper: He's not too bad after all, but I still find that he has no clear role in the team. His attacks are fun but not particularly useful in most situations compared to other bugs, so you would likely be picking him for his abilities, but he doesn't offer much that can't be done by someone else. That's the conclusion I'm coming to anyway. Anyone have a different experience? On which maps would you choose Grasshopper over other bugs, and for what reasons? Stickbug: I love his attacks. 1-shotting armored-ants with Fire staff is very satisfying. I noticed that when Blast triggers while he's using Wind staff, he creates a MASSIVE knockback that sends even centipedes flying into the air, so that's another use for him. Most of his abilities are attractive. But what's the deal with Astroid Field? I can't seem to get that much out of it. Is it more useful in small or large maps? I only have one complaint, I suppose, and that would be his fragility. His Phase Shift makes things easier, but he's still very vulnerable to small enemies attacking him. He's utterly helpless against Giant Spiders. I suggest a Lightning Shield ability or as part of Lightning Storm. Fly: This hero is more powerful than I gave him credit for. Once he's geared up, he's one of the most powerful and well-rounded heroes. His main drawback is that he's very weak in almost every way early-game, and is rather difficult to build up. I think Fly is very well balanced. But what's the deal with Elephant Snail Rifle? I couldn't find any use for it. Termite: I've underestimated this hero. Unfortunately, he is highly dependent on Fly. More dependent than any hero should be. But, Fly + Termite is the new cookie cutter. I got most of my top scores with this combination, including the one in Pond where I got to Round 107 or so. The turrets generate a lot of money as you're playing with Fly, enough to make a profit while maintaining the turrets. I think there needs to be a lot of rebalancing here right now. Good luck with this one, Foursaken Media. What's the deal with the nail gun though? Worm: I maintain my opinion that he is a powerful hero, but needs some survival improvements to prevent freak accidents from ruining your whole game. I only use him for his abilities now, because it's too risky to play with him too much (Gets whacked unsuspectingly by a Bumblebee through the wall. Oh nooo!). I think he should have a passive item that prevents massive blows from killing him if he has, say, 10 HP or more, which would reduce his hp down to 1 instead of killing him. Oh and hey, you know what would be cool to see in Bug Heroes? The deadliest bug of all: The Giant Hornet. Watch em fight bees: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDSf3Kshq1M If Bug Heroes had boss fights, something like this would be cool.
Woot! I made it to round 20 on Normal restaurant! I used Fly, Stickbug and Ladybug. I know, Round 20 on Normal isn't a great feat for you pros, but to me it's pretty far! And Giant Hornets in the game would be awesome
I've been using stickbug, hopper & worm lately, but having trouble with the centipedes, elephant snail & devourer( the most) used worm's grenade & claymore back to back only stunned them. Used hopper's hop & hopper kick nothing. Finally used freeze it only stuns them briefly. I had to use both lightning storm & asteroid field at the same time ( numerous times) to take out the 3 on various occasions. The devourer's are hard to take down. Anyone have any tips for taking down the said 3 enemies using stickbug, hopper & worm? Anytips are very Appreciated! Thanks how much damage does stickbug earthquake spell do?
Congrats kid! Same here I finally Made it into the early twenties on all 3 new levels . Soon you will to. Keep trying
Ladybug: I don't know, I used to be this way about Ladybug, but I found her skills and armor pretty useful. when you have her Armor max, along with her Hardened Shell maxed, and then if you buy Fencing Mask and Extra Shields, that's quite a lot of armor. She's good to switch to if you're getting bombarded by small bugs. Her skills Impale and Lunge come in handy too, I find Impale very useful for large bugs like Devourers, Queen Ants, Giant Spider and even Centipedes. I'm sure you're right about her not being as useful in later rounds, definitely in Hard, but she's not useless. Grasshopper: I agree here. If he gets attacked by fleas or gnats, he ends up losing quite a big chunk of health, and doesn't really knock back as much as I'd like him to. However, he does have some great skills! The only reason why I would choose him over other bugs is for his Miracle Worker ability. Comes in handy when you're in a pinch for food. Stickbug: Yeah this guy is EPIC. One of my favorites now. Asteroid Field doesn't do much for me either. Not very useful. Protection Ward does help for armor, too, so it kinda helps there. Fly: Yeah he's definitely very powerful. With Money Shot, Spinning Shot, Pick-Pocket and Scoundrel, he can really pack a punch. Just thought I'd share my thoughts on some of these, even though I'm not a huge pro or anything. Just my two cents!
Termite's Food Cultivator is much, much better than his Miracle Worker. And Ant's Life Support is more useful because it reduces your need to eat food, and it's more reliable and can be a life saver. It can provide the equivalent of 150 food every 100 seconds (I know that Miracle Worker has the potential to produce more, but it's not very reliable. It's still a great skill though, but I don't think it's worth picking Grasshopper because of it). Lately I've been focusing on his damage than his abilities. I'm going for Focus and then Spell Blast, and I give him Fire Staff and Wind Staff and keep switching between them. Wind Staff is amazingly useful at keeping bugs away from your food stash and from you, and Fire Staff just provides insane damage (1-shotting Armored Ants even without Focus).
Really? I should really use Termite more. It's just getting money for his turrets... :/ Yeah Ant is still one of my favs because of his Life Support and his other support abilities. Yeah I usually level up Spell Blast and Focus, too. It's crazy how far Wind Staff can blow away bugs with Spell Blast maxed out. And Fire Blast does have super damage. It's awesome.
Maybe grasshopper might not be great, but i had fun pairing him up with worm's nuke ability. Set up a nuke then switch to grasshopper to activate his ability to increase food drops. And boom! voila, not only the grasshopper's health is fully restored thanks to his faith skill, but you can find 3-4 food drops all over the map. The downside is nuke's long cooldown period. And Thanks to whoever suggested windstaff for stickman. I think spell blast maxed out is also great with lightening ability. It killed armored bugs in one hit too, but it might have been at night. not sure.
I just discovered that combo in my last game. Very handy. It was the yard map, so it was a bit of a pain to have to run around finding the food. Looking forward to trying it on a smaller map though.
It can work with fly's pickpocket too. Just checked the tally for the praying mantis contest. Only over 60,000 votes. It will be few months before we get to see the praying mantis...How do we get this done faster?
Miracle Worker works even if Hopper is not active, so you can use a nuke, activate Miracle Worker and switch to Fly and activate Pick Pocket. It's really fun. Anyway, it looks like Termite + Fly might not be overpowered per say; just the easiest way to get to higher rounds. I got to round 34 on Yard with Fly + Termite combo, but I just passed round 50 with Fly + Stick + Beetle. Then again, I am Oxynidus, and the rules don't apply to me. Foursaken Media, I gotta bring up an important issue. It seems like Bug Heroes is still so much about fighting small bugs than large ones, which is why MG, Zapper and Laser turrets are more important than others. I've been getting to my high rounds using 4 Zapper turrets because they are currently the best counter to swarms of smaller bugs as well as being extremely useful for stunning and slowing all bugs. I want to use Sniper turrets, but they eventually fail me as its effect becomes barely noticeable when fighting large groups of bugs. It's also the reason why Ladybug suffers at later levels, and why multiple AOE abilities are an absolute necessity in most games. I believe there needs to be a better balance between bigger bugs and smaller ones. What says you?
